The kit has to appeal to kids. The club will hate it seeing loads of the future generation wearing a protest shirt, don't think they'll give two shits about a bunch of middle aged blokes wearing them.
yep Ive found sources to make them for kids too. The point is they wont get as many sales regardless @Nug All up for discussion, Im just looking at sourcing at the best price/quality and trying to move it along.
On reflection, although I would love a black kit with white trim, I think a white kit is more us. It may overcome the hostility of a few that would prefer red, I wouldn't buy red as it defeats the object it my eyes, as it looks like an away shirt but still hits the black and white remit. As others have said the old white away Viglen shirt would be ideal, I wouldn't reverse the colours though, just replace the red bits with more black.
I'm not in a position to fund such a thing but I wouldn't mind betting that one of the current crop of disillusioned former club sponsors/fan owned businesses could see their way to becoming this shirt's sponsor.
The company that used to sponsor the sign in the player's tunnel at The Valley - think it was them that made a point of publicly withdrawing support after Peeters was sacked last year - Axis I think they're called.
Or Data Techniques, if they can get their phone number formatted correctly.

I'd reckon Data would be all over this idea, if there is an estimated cost I'll speak to them to find out interest?

Have a chat with AFKA mate I think Dan has had some approaches regarding this.
I raised a couple of ideas on another thread but thought maybe a thread of its own might raise some interest. The second point is more relevant and as someone on the other thread pointed out, Newcastle did something similiar, using the city coat of arms and deleting the Wonga advertising on their replica shirts.
Here is the original post. If there is enough interest, I'd be happy to do the research and help make it happen. Over to you. I know we have some very creative kit designer guys here, so maybe this will take off.
Just bunging out some ideas, didnt know where would be appropriate so here they are.
1. One thing that stood out for me in all the coverage was the black and white scarfs.....I think when we finally get a decent new owner we should propose that all future away kits should be black and white as a tribute to the fans for fighting this ridiculous regime.
2. It Might also be a good idea to get some replica kits made up of our own for next season in Black and white stripes to aid the boycotting of sales in the club shop. Might be a decent take up and a collectors item for the future.
I'd mentioned this a while back and quite a few were interested. As we can get the same kit template as the club as we only use Nike Templates a season late. Then we can also see if there's a possibility of getting sponsorship from the same sponsor for a small price (maybe not...) And use just a sword on it with maybe a card badge somewhere.
I agree with this approach. Would appeal to kids as fundamentally the same kit as the players but no profit to club. CARD logo and own sponsor (s) perhaps with 'support the team not the regime' in one of places you might see a sponsor.
A couple of attempts for some kind of logo....its just a start, Im sure someone can come up with something more suitable. I thought it would be good to have a strapline on the rear of the shirt under the collar. I used "Taking our Charlton" back on my recent protest t shirt, so Ive added it here. Come up with some alternatives. for either or...
I'm collating prices to have the kits manufactured at the moment, its going to be cheaper for us to manufacture a shirt than buy something off shelf from one of the leading suppliers. We will get some samples made prior to production. The shirts will be very reasonably priced if we go the route I'm suggesting.
Some answers for you.
1. Would you like to see a printed logo on the shirt? (Like the photo)Bear in mind we will have to go with our own design (a whole new other subject) or would you pay more and want an embroidered logo? Just bear in mind a well printed logo will look smart, but an embroidered one will of course be a whole lot more classy. Im easy either way.
2. Would you like the option of a home and an away shirt? The away shirt would allow us to do a black shirt perhaps with a white chest band (or red and white) ala the 1996 ish Charlton Germany style away kit in reverse (see photo). This of course in tribute to the spell it out in black and white boys for their hard work. I assume that black and white stripes arent what people will want. The black shirt could have a collar which I think a lot of people seem to like...ala the promotion season under CP
Im working on some rough drafts of an alternative emblem, but of course anyone is welcome to chip in with a design, I know we have lots of designers here. Getting the logo right is vitally important, but we wont be able to satisfy everyone.
But for clarity so I can progress things can you comment on items one and two. Just keep the answers simple for clarity and try to avoid debate if you can, Im just trying to get a majority feel for what you want.....thanks
1. Embroided.
2. Like the black shirt idea with a red and white stripe.
Home and away would appease those who want a Red and White shirt.
Lots of good ideas here and I'm keen to buy whatever is produced...and for my 9 year old daughter.
However, I can see there's divided opinion on the main colour being red, black or white. Perhaps set up a separate thread for a vote and go with the majority?

I think once we have some designs to look at that will be the way to go. If we go the printed shirt route, there is nothing stopping us having more than one shirt.
In my opinion we'd sell a bucket load more if it was a plain shirt with no sponsor on.
I appreciate that may increase the end price but a plain red and white shirt and potentially a black and white version (if we're having two) would be great.
1. Not really fussed, but embroidered would look better. 2. I personally would like a red shirt as I have held off getting the last few home shirts down to the shocking look of the sponsors (sunday league looks better).
Really liked the white sword on the black and white kit above. I think simplicity works best.
Would love it if we did the old FAD's shirt.
Anyway exciting project for those involved and cant wait to get one. Regardless of what you end up with.

1. I will buy one regardless. Embroidered would be my choice though.
2. I think one black and white shirt personally, if possible mimicking next season's home shirt or one of our popular past shirts. I really like the idea of a black and white FADS pinstripe shirt with FANS on instead, personally.
Do we need an alternative emblem? If so use the sword.
Just to add, I feel quite strongly that the most effective protest shirt would be a replica of a genuine home shirt but in black and white. The obvious candidates for me would be the Bukta shirt, the FADS pinstripe ones, the play-off shirt or the Back to the Valley one, as these are all readily identifiable as Charlton shirts.
I don't think the FA Cup Final shirt is readily identifiable.
Personally I'd avoid slogans or fake sponsorship, it's very easy for things like that end up being a bit naff. I'd stick to just the shirt and some kind of adapted Charlton logo. The shorts don;t really need a slogan on them because anyone buying or wearing one will be well aware of why they are doing as will the people the message is being aimed at.
Embroidered. Always looks classier. I like the idea of a variation on that viglen kit. Not sure what the laws are regarding using the badge but a simple sword might be the answer and is part of our history. Regarding sponsorship. Coco5 would be the best 'up yours' to the regime but I don't think they'll go for it. I personally don't have a problem with sponsorship on the shirt but there may be quite a few who will have so that needs to be gauged carefully. I agree that slogans or fake sponsorship may be a bad idea.
Thanks for your efforts @Tel. Keep up the good work.
@TEL of its possible to do kids sizes I reckon that helps a lot. I know the costs for the kids jerseys may be higher as unit sold in each size is less but it will encourage more adults to buy as well.
The kids need a new kit every year as they grow but the adults can just wait a year or two in the hope RD effs off before the old one were out.
This is good stuff TEL, excellent work. I like the idea of a home and away shirt. Keep it simple though, no fake sponsors or such. Any logos could be on the sleeves, CARD on one and CAST on the other for example. A white embroidered sword over the heart on the front and your idea of "Taking Our Charlton Back" over the shoulders would finish it off nicely. Me and my son would take home AND away each.
The more logos, etc, the less you will selI in my opinion. Keep it simple.
@TEL Rangers Supporters Trust will be able to help you and save you time and effort, as they have produced several alternative team shirts including a charity shirt.

To answer your questions...
1. Not bothered.
2. No. Home shirt only for me.

I'll take a full kit if possible. Home and away. Three of them.
Well done for getting this going.
