  • Played well yesterday - Bauer can learn from him.

It's almost like Slade was a stubborn fool (yes, I know we had one of the best defensive records without playing Tex, but he brings more than defending - his distribution for a CB is beyond anything else in L1)

    Agree. Especially his distribution.
My observation in the earlier post was mainly based on last season, where he wasn't in a settled defence.
    Brilliant the last few games.

Always a threat at set pieces down the other end of the pitch as well
  • The whole Tex saga is a mystery. I assume we bought Pearce as Slade expected him to leave, as while Tex had an injury it wasn't a major one

Then we wondered if he wasn't being played due to extra payments being due, and that he would be off in January.

So is he staying or leaving now? There have been no rumours concerning him, which is strange. I don't understand why Championship clubs aren't after him.
  • We now have 3 CB's who are all good enough for a first team starting berth. Can only be good for us but difficult to keep them all happy

Centre backs always prone to an injury or suspension. Three good enough for starting is what's required if you want any success. We've lost Pearce now and if we lose one of Paddy or Tex then we are struggling.

It's a very good thing we couldn't shift Texeira otherwise we would be relying on Roger Johnson right now.

  • I'll be amazed if he's still a Charlton player by February.

I thought that too but perhaps Pearce getting injured and Jorge starting to enjoy himself might change that ?

Hopefully. Or he'll be replaced with someone on a six month contract. Or worse, Roger Johnson.

Yes, I suspect he would have gone had pearce not got injured.
  • If a Championship team had any sense they'd offer a pittance to take him off our wage bill.

KM would probably accept any offer for him.
