If we're serious about promotion, pull your finger out and play him. Him and Bauer would be class in this league, and ultimately if we do go up all those bonuses will be worth it.

We're not serious about promotion unfortunately.
Not sure I agree with this. I think RD is aware the only way he gets anything like his initial outlay back is if he sells us as a Championship club
  • Am I on my own thinking Tex looks a good player, but we seem to concede more goals when he plays
  • I rate him but then looks bambi on ice sometimes.
  • Generally overrated in my opinion.

Centre backs need to work in a partnership and you need someone to take control and organise the defence.

Take the young Richard Rufus, a brilliant individual defender, but you need someone experienced and talkative alongside him (Chapple, Youds etc)
  • Only seen him play once in the flesh vs Cardiff last season. On that night he partnered Harry Lennon and I thought Lennon looked the better of the two on that showing. I thought Tex seemed to be generally fairly solid looking and bit better on the ball than most british centre backs but also looked like a free kick/penalty waiting to happen and slow.

I think he's probably a decent enough player, but I think our fans have had a tendency over recent seasons to over rate our "good" players whilst thinking our "bad" players are worse than they are.

  • I think that bumping this thread the day after a 3-goal concession against Millwall is a direct invitation for the angry people of CL to say 'never rated the bloke'.

I thought he was our best player yesterday but whatever. He's quality
  • More worried about Bauer than Tex currently.

I'm getting a bit worried tbh.

I've agreed with more of Leuth's posts in the last few weeks than over the last few years.

Someone's changed. Is it me or him/you ?

I've decided to spend less time on the politics threads, is what's happened :D
  • Oh, and my 30th birthday is in 2 months, so I'm Torying up really quickly so I can make that adage work and retain my credibility, obvs
  • Happy Brexit I mean Christmas, Leuth.
  • You too, CR! Keep up the excellent analyses!
  • "Oh, get a room!" I hear you all cry

The room is the Covered End itself. (Although I've gone full turncoat and sit in the Lower these days)

I've only had one beer tonight wtf
  • 2016 has been a weird fucking year.
  • Is the problem that Bauer and Tex both normally play right side. Tex is struggling to adjust

He's hardly played with Bauer (not at all last season) and is also rusty from not playing until recently. Think he'll be fine.

If we had a right wing back (think Chicksen could probably handle left WB) I can see a decent back three of Tex Konsa and Bauer in a 3-5-2.

However from what i've read about his time at MK, Robinson very much prefers a 4231 formation. Problem is he doesn't have the players to play that formation right now. If for example we had Kashi fit or Ba who was interested then either could be in the '2' alongside maybe Ulvestad, then we'd have Lookman and holmes either side of a decent number 10 and Magennis up front. That would be a decent team. But we're without Kashi, Ba, a number 10 and Holmes right now so we're fucked.

Did Tex play on the left side last season alongside Fanni?

Yest hat's right. Fanni played on the right and covered in behind Motta, who played very high (which in turn pushed JBG higher where he was more effective).
  • More worried about Bauer than Tex currently.

Bauer has been awful last two games against Peterborough and Millwall looks like he is treading water when running.
  • Tbf he's not played for 7 months.

except he has, he just hasn't played against decent opposition.

He's not played first team league football for 7 months.

    That I agree with.

After 4 difficult months for me, in which I have never stopped giving my best for the team, now comes the time to taste all the good that i/WE achieved in this recent past.
We are here, together, and we will put Charlton in the place that deserves to be and tho achieve our goals.
To the fans, thank you very much for your unconditional support and that you are and will continue with us until the end.

  • I read that last night. As much as it's just words it's great to hear and gives a sense of togetherness in the squad.

Glad to have him back and hope he can continue with us and forge a decents partnership with Patrick B
