Not putting Aribo on the bench and Rojo instead with no intention of playing him is a lark.
I am charitably thinking he is keeping the midfield as given in order to force spend in January and is hoping we are close enough to play off places to make that happen post spend.
He's close to winning games, and a few wins will get us up in that spot.

I don't think he is an idiot.
Unfortunately the SMT are.
It was insinuated that the team he picked in the last friendly was meant to be a shot across the bow to the SMT, as was not giving Hanlan a number then having to pick him on the bench the following day against Bury (the former widely rumored at the time, the latter from AB).
To me it's a fool's game for Slade to be playing that because 1) it comes across as stupid and petulant, in my humble opinion, to anyone who can see through it, and 2) the SMT are, pressumably either not smart enough to pick up on the hints or don't give a toss. It's a loss all around for me. I would also have rather him spent that last friendly working on how we would try to build from the back and break teams down in possession than trying to make a statement and throw his toys out of the pram. It probably wouldn't have helped, but he at least would have been doing HIS JOB, which is to coach the team.
I do remember someone posting a tweet of Bauer's where tex congratulated Bauer on his return to the team and Bauer responded 'you next bruv' and Tex liked it.
Just had a look through MONTHS of his tweets... (It's a quiet Monday) and I see nothing that makes me believe he wants to be anywhere else, he seems committed to the club... more so than many previous signings.
I said somewhere on here, at the start of the season, that we wouldn't play Tex until November.
The reason being that we couldn't move him on, so that we could get him off the wage bill.
The logic of November, was so that we removed the risk of him get injured for 3 months, but could get him back match fit and in the shop window, for when it reopens in January.

Still think I might be right.
Possibly but he could just as easily pick up an injury in training so if we're paying him and he's fit, then play him. He's way above this level so even if it's just for 2-3 months, get him out there and let's start keeping clean sheets.
I thought it interesting that Jason Pearce mentioned (after the Gills game) that the club are well stocked for CB's, but didn't mention Tex (only Lennon, Konsa, and Bauer...). He also didn't mention Johnson, so we can expect him to get some verbals soon!
He could get injured in the U-23s. Insure him and play him! He is well above this league and knows where the goal is even though he is a defender.
Yeah but we need someone on Corners to get the ball past the first man.
Tex aint a miracle worker
We've got one, Holmes.
Slade took Holmes off corner duties, just after Holmes scored direct from one against Shrewsbury.
I think the issue was that Holmes tried scoring direct from the corner for one or two games after and Slade probably felt they were being wasted
It annoyed the hell out of me too but when you've scored one you might as well try again as you may get an unprepared 'Keeper... Its not like we score loads from corners either
My uneducated guess is that there are probably fees included within his transfer to be paid on appearances. (eg. 10/20/30/40 game increments)
He has played 19 league games for our first team. One more would take him to 20 and probably trigger a fee to pay to Liége/the player.
Add to that potential appearance bonuses for the player, and that we are well stocked of centre backs, it's very unlikely that Slade is allowed to select him.
If we're serious about promotion, pull your finger out and play him. Him and Bauer would be class in this league, and ultimately if we do go up all those bonuses will be worth it.

You're probably right BUT ....
If he plays, he helps the team - that's good for the club right ?
If he plays, he shows any perspective buyer how he's doing (presumably he'd be very good at this level ?) - that's good for club and player right ?
Not playing Tex makes zero sense. But then again you could say the same for most of the decisions made by Regime.

It makes zero sense but central defence is the one place where the team is well catered for. We're letting in less than 1 goal a game, 2 goals in the last 4 matches. And we don't really have the players to play 3-5-2.
Ba might be a flawed player, but he plays in a position where we are desperately weak.

We're not serious about promotion unfortunately.
Oh, I don't know, our fragrant and lovely CEO is very keen on self-promotion....

But he certainly retweets a lot of stuff from the other players / OS though
Although that could just be a European thing where players like the sun being shined up their arses (i.e. Bulot and Delort take note)

Didn't play for the U23s yesterday so does this mean he's injured again or can we expect him to feature in one of the 2 cup games?
