  • Thank goodness we got rid of Henderson a a free eh?

And He's doing so well at Forest

He's the least of our worries tbh as Rudd is much better

Bloke starting @ Forest doesnt say much for Henderson either.

I've not really watched the Championship goals this season but Blackburn's first on Tuesday night (against Forest) was terrible

The Goalkeeper had plenty of time to rush out of his goal and get the ball after a heavy touch from the Blackburn Striker yet stayed on his line and just let him shoot and score!!
  • So if we subtract the costs of all those we are paying for but can't put in the team, do we still have a top six budget?
  • Slade needs to be pressed hard on this one. I've heard him asked before and he deflects the question. That's not good enough, we deserve to know why it is that one of our best players isn't playing. Is he injured? If not, then why isn't he playing?
  • And Cebellos
  • Forgot about him!! Yep the list goes on, giving our recent negotiating history I am willing to bet that we will be paying the majority of his and Watt's wages.

    Unbelievable.

How can a business be run this poorly without heads rolling?
  • They'd be better off shipping some of those on Plumbs list out on loan to save on wages to put towards Tex's so he can play whilst balancing the non balanced books

Except when we ship players out on loan we pay their wages anyway, so we'd save something like the 10p a month Red Star are willing to pay for the privilege of having Sarr fall over for them. I'e always assumed that we pay 100% of Tony Watt's wages and Hearts just pay him in pies

  • Why waste money on players and not use them for the sake of paying a. Bit more we might actually start winning and then get some of the crowd we've lost back.we have a top six budget they keep saying but I bet four of the teams in that don't get 10000 fans and we can't compete with them
I was looking at attendances in prem the other week and our attendances were better than 4 teams including palace.
When we were there. If they stopped worrying about budgets we might start going in the right direction again
What's the point in having a flash car if you won't pay to drive it. Like us our best players don't play for us ridiculous
  • We would have had even higher gates in the Premiership if the Valley was bigger.
  • And if your auntie had balls......
  • I suspect they are very very close to being at the limit you are allowed to pay on wages as a % against income. My fear is we may actually be heading above it (if not already above) and therefore they will literally have no option but to either put money into CAFC NOT as a loan but as equity (about as likely as Rolly coming every game home and away) or cut the wage bill.

Only one way to cut the wage bill, sell or release players....... expect little coming in and plenty going out in January.

The rules are slightly different for relegated clubs, you can exclude players on three year contracts or longer from the calculation, so Teixeira's wages wouldn't count.

When was he signed? Rules state under SCMP he would need to be on the clubs books Pre the September of the relegation season...... so I think he's in.

EDIT; believe it also needs to be in excess of 3 years.
  • Well it was certainly more than 3 years, but I don't think he was in time.

Of course if the club hadn't decided to wage war in the fan base, maybe revenues could be a little higher, expenses e.g. Match day security, a little lower, and this would be less of an issue?

Agreed, it's hard to be accurate on income but I think they will be struggling to be under the cap.
  • I wonder how long it is before they cancel his contract as he's clearly not playing for us again.

Can't play for another club until the window opens if he's released now, so can't see that happening.

It's the most logical reason I've heard for Teixeira not playing.

I don't know if that's why Tex isn't playing, maybe salary goes up per game (play bonus). But I'm fairly confident they are flirting with danger on salaries and the cap as income has been shot by relegation (TV money in particular) and they still have some expensive salaries they've been unable to shift (such as Tex).
  • You couldn't make this mess up !! Well done guys... well done...

We are a joke. An absolute laughing stock.

The telling point is when Tex was signed. I mean, the chances of us going down were very, very high at that time. Surely a half wit would have produced a better contract. What that makes Meire and Roland - well you can work that out for yourself!
  • So to be fair to the regime, we called out for investment in January and we got it. And when Tex was signed we were, what 6 points off safety? I can't quite remember.

I think the length of his contract was too long, probably by a year or so. Also, assuming there is no relegation clause that would be VERY sloppy. But beyond that, I think he's a good player and the regime probably thought (if they indeed do think ahead) that he'd have sell on value or could be loaned out if we went down. I would also have backed such a conclusion either at the time or at the end of the season. Tex is by no means the worst of our recruitment problems, and I'd argue that as a player he's one of our better signings. He's just the most blatant examples of the overall failure of transfer signings still left at the club.

Also, I'd argue that had we gotten in a different, more cultured manager, we might have been able to convince players like Tex and Diarra to stick with the club for a bit longer, and possibly get more out of the likes of Ba and Ceballos. When we brought Slade in my biggest fear was that he wouldn't fancy any of the foreign fancy dans, and here we are with a British team of honest, hardworking, and extremely technically and tactically limited players.
  • Diarra 1 in 1 for Nancy.
  • Hmmm. But the tweets from eg Bauer suggest that Tex is prepared to play but is being frozen out for some reason...

Slade started off with a 'if you aren't proud to wear the shirt, you aren't wearing it.'

    Fair play.

But I can't see Texeira in that bucket. Slade should be honest about this one and say why he isn't playing because he is quality.

As to Diarra, that was stupid. If we had kept him for half a season more we would not be where we are now.

Diarra or crofts, Diarra injured or crofts. No contest.

Same could be said for Tony Watt. Watt and Diarra were both contracted to us this season so we could have forced them to honour the contracts they signed and made them play for us. Cant him but feeling we would have pissed the league had we done so bearing in mind we are now desperately lacking a good CM and 20 goal a season man which I think Watt could well have been in L1.
