That was one I always wished we had gone fo,r along with others like Perkins and Judge.
We screwed up signing Judge when he went off to Brentford. Even back then it was obvious we lacked a creative midfielder, but 2 years down the line we've done nothing to address the problem.
Between Buyens, Bulot and JBG we had a pretty good attacking midfield last season.
None were playmakers though. We havnt had a playmaking central midfielder for bloody years. It's so long I can't be certain who the last one was. Andy Reid ?
Well we managed to win L1 and do well the following season without a Claus Jensen style playmaker.
And even in that remarkable season we often didn't look great in the middle of the pitch. I said it at the time that if we had Andy Reid that season we would have been champions by Christmas.
But then Reid would have provided less defensive cover to the back 4. And less energy on the pitch, there's also compromises to be made.
So what are we predicting Jose says at the press day?
"We have assessed the squad, and given that we will have some injured players back by april we don't see the need to bring anyone else in. "Although we have made some derisory bids for a few players, to excite the fans, that we will never follow up with meaningful offers."
Bradley Dack will be a quality signing for anyone in our league, he's a kent boy currently playing for Gillingham and a creative midfielder we've craved for years but no that would be far too simple.
Well at least he has had a short shop window. He played well for the first 45 in a championship team so I reckon he is due a step up to Cypriot league,, the Sicilian league is a bit too hard but from Cyprus I hear you can step up through to Dubai no issues
Perhaps a lack of transfers is an in dictation RD is willing to sell?
Or its just proof that a leopard doesnt change its spots?
I don't think he will change his spots in terms of going over budget a great deal, not getting the expected funds from selling Watt has probably finished off further spending.

Watt going out on loan again according to SLP. For fucksake
I'd heard last week he wouldn't be here long.
Cardiff not being able to buy him has royally fucked us over. I believe we had players lined up and that's gone pear shaped now
What i dont get is that Roland is minted, surely if he wants us to stay up he could get these players in and keep Watt until the summer then cash in on him to get his money back? Or am i being too simplistic?!
See Rotherham signed another player yesterday think that's 4or 5 they've brought in if we only had there ambition to stay up. Why don't we sell watt to them or Bristol city. Just to help them do we want to stay up or what.
Unless we're closer to a FFP Transfer Embargo than we realise...
i.e. If we kept Watt till the Summer we may survive relegation yet could end up with a transfer embargo through the whole summer, it'll mean we'll have to sell someone just to get out of the embargo for the January Window.
It'll also mean that teams will know we're under the ban so will want our players for a cut price... Whilst we wont be able to strengthen at all
Of course if there is the risk, surely it would just be easier to sell Lookman

If the signings we have made put us close to a FFP transfer embargo then I really do give up!
Doubt it has anything to do with FFP. There is a budget (an extremely tight/non-competitive one) and Roly will not budge from it regardless of the criminal waste of wages on the likes of Williams and Johnson.
My understanding of FFP is that clubs can lose €5m per season (ie, spend €5m more than they earn), but a club's total losses over three years can run up to €45m as long as their owners could cover such losses.
Given RD's frugality (ie his tight arse) I'd be amazed if we are anywhere near the big number.

I agree that I dont think its the FFP, just trying to think of the reasoning.
In regards to our FFP limit though, dont forget we were a League One side when it came into effect which will have hurt us as instantly the amount we can spend in the Championship compared to other sides will be lower...
Its like Manchester City, if they'd been taken over a few years later, they wouldnt be the powerhouse they are now, as spending £250m or whatever it is would have broken the limit by a long long way

The reason is that we've got a tight c**t of an owner.

2. Williams
3. Poyet
4. Djiksteel ?
5. Yeo
Plus we re-signed Watt, Piggot (briefly), Obileye and Hariott.
So really, he has outperformed.
