  • Oh dear.
Wrong kind of presentation to the audience.

Surely if you have to repeat your high level objectives to a group of long-standing fans then it must be clear that either you've not met the objectives or they are so obscure nobody gets them.

Good Lord, is it not obvious that those are the stated aims and objectives of every Championship team?

Not so much as out of her depth but drowning.

In the name of all that is holy, please just go somewhere else where you will be successful and leave us alone. You and Duchatalet.

I feel the Powerpoint presentation was directed more at Roly to convince him she is doing a good job. However, I don't think he is that dumb. Maybe her days are numbered? And maybe she knows it.

He is not Dumb. Not many multi Millionaires are.
    But can he hear ?
Who does he hear from, other than Katrien ?
Does he hear directly from Richard Murray.
Does he ask Chris Parkes for his views ?
We know Duchatelet thinks all people who complain on line are Keyboard
Warriors who are out of work with too much time on their hands.
    (as translated)

He must of been aware of the PPP before ?

The video was definitely aimed at fans. In various conversations I had on Saturday around the Valley I was told:

    (a) they understand why fans are protesting - that things on the pitch are not going well.
    (b) the key focus at the moment is what happens on the pitch and getting the team out of the hole they are in. Everything else is secondary.
    (c) the club hasn't got all the positive messages out about what is going on behind the scenes and this needs to happen to show fans the good stuff
    (d) RD is making investments for the long term future of the club and the kids zone is an example of this. He is apparently trying to change the culture of short-termism of football ownership by having a long term plan for the club

I am pretty sure that the presentation is in response to (c) above as it fits in with what was said to me. I suspect they thought that if they get the right positive message out then people would have better understanding and that would help defuse the protest before the meeting started.

So my guess is that they will be disappointed that it didn't have desired effect. Unfortunately this exercise just shows, at best, a complete naivety about what people really feel and the depth of feeling. A powerpoint presentation of nice things will not change why people are angry.

Just to be clear, I am not an apologist for this view of the world. I only share what I was told as it provides a possible context for purpose of the presentation.

Have added " inept public speaker" to KM list of skills!
  • I just watched the initial presentation out of some sort of macabre interest in your affairs. Meire would probably make a decent marketing director at a medium sized charity or membership association. A CEO she is not

Harsh. I'm not digging management out for a moment, but I saw a nervous woman, speaking in a foreign language. The problem is, she can show us this graphic and that chart, this statistic and that slogan, but it simply doesn't address the fact that the owner's 'Do it this way' approach has alienated many Addicks (and four coach / managers).
Much more could have been done, some of it early on in RD's tenure, to engage positively with us. That it wasn't has led, in no small part, to a feeling of frustration and a near-absence of trust and confidence in the people at the helm.
  • Her response on 34 minutes that every manager was the right appointment because they improved the teams rAnking was bizarre - and then richard 'enjoy the championship, tosser' steps in to bail her out. She's not just out of her depth but defending the indefensible. I do think she's quite fit though, and has got a sexy accent

It's just not a strategy presentation, it's a very high level list of vague of objectives. On KM presentation skills, I've seen worse, the tech at the start threw here

Do we not think the whole PowerPoint thing is in response to the black and white thing? Told u its a pointless campaign -all we want is a decent manager and team

So pointless that she noticed it, is aware of it and tried, and failed, to address it.

I'm fine if people don't agree with the aims or think it doesn't go far enough but to claim that it is pointless when it is clearly hitting home is ludicrous.

It's been going for about two weeks and it has already been responded to.

Sure, she trying to laugh it off but that because she doesn't have an adult response.

  • I think spell it out in black and white has been adequately answered by the deliberately chosen and fetching blouse and we should all be happy now and get behind the Staprix team

In fairness, that might have worked if the person presenting had been slick and professional. She was neither and that just underlines one of the core problems. Given she has played the gender card herself, I feel I can ask if people think a 31-year-old fat bloke would have still been in the role had he underdelivered on so many fronts?

£9 spent on incoming players, but how much was spent on players that were not good enough, that we had to pay even though they were not good enough to play, or pay up their contracts, or release on free transfers, or just sell them for a reduced fee. Tucudean, still on books, we cannot play him or sell him, what a mess! If that is something to be proud of, then I am missing the point

She really is an idiot. "I'm sure I explained our aims before". Yes you did Katrien, but almost nothing you've done since has demonstrated that you're actually trying to achieve those aims. So forgive us for needing you to clarify them again and explain how you're going to achieve them while going about things the way you have been.
  • To be fair she did share the aim to be a good Championship side challenging for promotion to the Premier at both Ashford and Bromley last season. She just refused to put a deadline date on it.
  • How have they spent £4.5M on The Valley? OK, £1M or so on the pitch but were the new seats, big screen, sofa that expensive?!

She is the the CEO of a football club!! being able to communicate effectively is a pretty significant part of that - I have seen nothing whatsoever to suggest that this woman is qualified, experienced or able to fulfill that role and plenty to suggest that she is inept, dishonest, ruthless and manipulative in equal measures - she is not doing a good job by any standards and that was a very poor presentation.

On top of which some of her comments later in the meeting were frankly Katrien- centric and offensive.

I have no sympathy for her at all.

I don't think that is harsh at all - it is the truth.

I thought I heard her say £2.5m during the meeting (not the presentation part, actually during the meeting).
