If only Simon Church had taken that 1st minute chance?
We were the better of the two average side until Pope's error. All keepers make mistakes but he keeps making the same one while doing everything else well.
2nd half Fulham were waiting to pick us off on the break and finally did.
We did create a few chances but we lacked a hold up player as we have since the Frenchman whose name we must not mention left and big Mak got injured.
We were sloppy and lacked ideas although KAG was using his pace well, Watt was trying and Cousins getting stuck in.
JBG tried that move he does when he cuts inside and shoots bit it didnt work.
Then the almost inevitable 2nd on the break. A finish by a 12m striker in an otherwise ordinary side.
Lot of people praising Moussa. Didn't see much end product myself but he did try.
The new kid, didn't catch his name but he was number 4, had a great start. Really wanted it and made sure everyone else did too.
From then on it was a question of could we fashion a clean chance before FFC caught us on the break again and finally from a KAG cross we did.
Both central midfielders scoring and but from a good performance by their keeper we would have won.
But we could just have easily lost 3 or 4 too.
We're not a good team, we have all sorts of problems and weaknesses but we also has some great talents and potential.
Ok I thought we got away with that ...negatives....I have seen enough of Pope now to know that he is liability. ..ba not good enough. ..mcaleny unforgivable miss ....positives jacko and cousins showed the fans they have some pride in the shirt notably both English players kag has bags of potential but I feel his career will suffer if too much is expected of him too early. ..he'd be better going out on loan
Don't see how kit Symonds and Rob Lee can saw they bossed it. They scored from their only two real chances where as Connor and Ba missed good chances for us as well as having a few chances blocked in the second half. Thought the only time we weren't in the game was after the second goal
I do sometimes wonder what horrible thing happened to Rob Lee during his nine years with Charlton to make him hate us so much
Fans like you and Katrien call him Rob instead of Robert.
Agree with those questioning why some thought Fulham dominated. Difference was (for the first 80 minutes) they took their chances and we didn't. We created more and created better chances throughout the game. The only time they really dominated anything was in that 10-15 mins after their second where our heads dropped.
Like VG I think GL is the right man. I enjoy the type of football that he tries to get the team to play (the build up to the second was superb), with previous managers and in games we were chasing how many times would that ball have been pumped forward from the back?
His hands are tied somewhat with the resources but to me it seems he is doing the best with what he has available. The gulf in finances available in the Championship are quite staggering and something FFP should have addressed yet the league buckled to what the (over)spenders wanted.
Was at the game and thought we were ok first half and first fifteen mins of 2nd half, lost it then for 20 mins then excellent from 80th onwards. Just watched it on tv and 're-confirmed my views. Cousins our best player.
I've seen only two games, Hull, 98th minute winner, and this one, 96 minute equaliser. I am still excited about this team. We have to take this game in context. We have been on a terrible run of form and have many injuries to key players, yet we still played some bright attacking football and created lots of chances. To battle back from 2 down was some achievement given the circumstances. Getting Moussa back will be like having a new signing, same with Jacko. Then we have all the other players to come back from injury, plus some exciting youngsters coming through like Kennedy. The future's bright, a couple of wins and we'll be knocking on the top 6 again. In fact, bar a couple of goalkeeping errors from young Pope we'd already be top half.
If that had finish 1-2, i still though we were much better than against Huddersfield Where we were devoid of any ideas at all.
The two errors in both boxes was why we were 1-0 down not 1-0 up at HT. played some good passes and young Kag did lots of runs behind their defense, i'm sure it was his cross for Jordans goal.
The bizarre thing when Pope has done his 3 biggest howlers CAFC 3 Derby2, CAFC2 Hull 1 and CAFC2 Fulham 2 we haven't lost but it's the weakness which will stop him playing above League 1 level, which is a shame for him as he takes crosses better than most keepers.
I was not alone in wanting JJ on as soon as we went 2-0 down because that's when we needed a captain and when we looked at our worse.
We kept passing and we got the point that we deserved even thou , 3-0 to Fulham was looking likely with 20 minutes to go.
A little ray of light with the break again.
Let's hope Big Mak and Hendo will be ready to resume.
It's frustrating watching Charlton at the moment. Individual errors and the inability to take simple chances are killing us. When the injured players are back, I think we'll be a different team. I'm keeping the faith.
We went a bit flat but game was pretty even as stats showed. Of course Fulham will be rightfully disapointed being 2 up with 10 to go. Had a textbook Pope error to thank. I thought Fulham thought they had won and that was the chief reason why they didn't. A general point - but If nobody likes time wasting, why don't refs make teams pay for doing it! It is always worth it as the ref never adds the amount of time wasted on!
It's all been said really, but I'll add my piece. In the first half we were the better side for the middle thirty minutes. Unfortunately another blooper from the Pope and we go in one down. Second half, Fulham run us ragged. They had several chances for a third, had they got it we were done. Then the man who I would like to see as Charlton manager eventually, came on and not just scored the first, but transformed the whole team into a threatening unit. We deserved the equaliser. If you look at the stats it was 50/50.
I just hope by the time we go to Reading, we have (almost) a full squad to choose from.
Cracking crosses for both the goals, sidenote that JBG's dead balls were spot on (the corner pinpointed to JJ's run) - I'm sure a lot of club scouts were watching that and he must of stood out .
Pope needs to be replaced or every team will keep picking up on it - it's so easy to spot for us fans so professional club scouts and managers will spot it too.
That was truly dire for 80 minutes. Even though we had chances we never looked like we had any real belief and it was only a matter of time before Fulham scored a couple. Totally predictable and every time Fulham came forward we looked in disarray at the back. I don't think Pope instills them with confidence and that is important because we did look really bad back there. For the 1st 80 I would say we had no passion, no flair and no balls. Basically we felt like a team of misfits with no cohesion. I feel it has been like that since the Rotherham game really. At half time my thoughts were - defense suspect, Pope shaky, the rest ok but with no real direction. At this point I was feeling this is just not fair on our youth. They've just been thrown into the deep end with no one to lead them.
And then after 80 Jacko came on. And what a difference and that is what we've been crying out for. Suddenly everyone looked sharper. JBG looked like his old self again. Ditto with Cousins. What a goal! Watt was on fire (he could very well have nicked it at the end). Moussa looked impressive. Even KAG looked sharp (a great cross for the 2nd), whereas I thought he looked lost for the 1st 80.
So, that just shows you how much our team needs Jackson at the moment. He may not be the swiftest but he just knows where to be at crunch times to make a difference. I think we would have gone 3-1 down near the end but it was Jacko who was there to deflect the shot away for a corner. Also, I don't think we should underestimate the influence he has on others, especially the youth. He can inspire confidence just by being there. He is our club captain and needs to be in there every game to hold our bunch of misfits together. I hope GL can see that from now on. Enough with the experiments.
1) Couldn't be bothered to drive across London to watch live today so watched on Sky. For 80 mins that seemed the right idea. But the last 10 proved why you can't really beat watching live!
2) Why on earth do we only start playing with 10 mins left? Do it game after game. Would help greatly if the team played with that level of urgency from the start.
3) Not just saying this but really did sit there for most of the game wondering how on earth Ba was in the line up ahead of Jackson (assuming he is fit).
4) JJ is a legend in my book. Up there with the likes of Kinsella, Robinson, Rufus etc.
5) JJ's heroics have papered over a pretty poor performance. OK, I know we created some good chances but Fulham should have been out of sight long before we scored.
5) KM may want to spin us the line that they have spent a great deal of money bringing players to the club this year. If they have paid big money for Ba, my heart sinks.
6) Huge fan of Nick Pope but today was the day even I have to say he can't stay in the first team any longer. A real talent but if he can't hold low shots, he's got no future at this level.
7) Finally, my heart sunk when Robert Lee appeared as the expert. Of all the ex-Charlton players they could have picked, why him? (He admitted he hadn't seen us play for 5 years). It's almost like he's ashamed to admit he played for us and that his footballing life only started when he went to Newcastle. (He even had a black and white tie on - couldn't see if it had the Newcastle crest on it!)

What did Robert think of the new turnstiles I wonder?
Pope is excellent in general with high balls, needs more protection from his defence when ball on the ground. The two Fulham players reached the ball way ahead of our defence, although Bauer was on the move.
There has to be a former player of ours who doesn't feel embarrassed of it and who don't trash us every time their on the box Rob-- Robert--- bobby--- Bob Lee take ur Geordie tie and go feck yourself
It was a pretty open and attractive game to watch from a neutral's point of view. Not so great from a Charlton supporters view for most of the match. Not sure if the final 15 minutes makes up for what went before.
The game was pretty balanced in the first half. Charlton had some decent approach play but created nothing in the final third. Fox got forward but the crosses weren't up to much. KAG had good energy, is quick and improving but didn't much look like scoring. I am sure he will knock in a lot of goals in a season or two. His confidence seems to be improving with a run of games and looked more like he felt like he belongs there.
Fulham got far too much space in midfield in front of Charlton's back 4 and looked more threatening. They got lucky with their goal with Pope dropping the ball. Charlton defenders were far too slow to react. Pope needs some practise to improve on his short stopping from distance. I hope he can improve on this area. In the air and shot stopping standing up, Pope is good. He will be a very good keeper. I hope Charlton supporters can remember that he is only a young keeper and would help him to know that crowd will back him, despite the mistakes as he learns.
Second half, Charlton got forward a bit more but didn't look much like scoring. The 2nd Fulham goal was very poor defensively. Charlton looked abject after that, relegation material. There was a real lack of leadership. Along comes Jackson who scores an excellent Captain's goal. Berdich on for Fox who abandoned the defence but put in some more dangerous crosses. Moussa, who took on and went past opposition defenders and helped to put Fulham on the back foot. Watt nearly wins in the last minute, but is stopped by a good challenge from Stearman.
Charlton really lacked pace down the wings. Makienok is missed. I am concerned by the lack of leadership on the pitch when Jackson is not there. Jackson won't be playing all the games. Overall, a fortunate draw helped by Fulham not putting the game to bed and trying to waste time. Charlton won't get that chance against better and more disciplined opposition.
Really pleased to see Moussa back, who from the bench can help turn the direction of games. It shows that what an attacking / creative midfield can add to the team. Good that there is now an international break, so that fitness of Jackson and Moussa can be improved and some of the injured players can hopefully return. Hopefullly the team can build on the last 15 minutes that will help encourage them and remind them what they need to do, post international break, for the full 90 minutes, straight from the start of a match.
The way I see it is: * even first half in which we could and should have taken the lead through McAleny in the first minute, and when Tony Watt crossed it and KAG failed to connect. * Another utterly ridiculous mistake by Pope to give them the lead. I'm pretty sure that McCormack deliberately hit it to bounce in front of Pope having seen his propensity to let the ball bounce off him. First time I've ever seen an attacker use our own goalkeeper as an ally in an attacking set play! I think I'd rather give Mitov a try than keep having Pope screw up. * poor defensive work by Diarra and Solly for their second. Then our heads went down and we looked lifeless - until Captain Fantastic made his astonishing appearance. * Brilliant last 10 minutes in which we gained what I see as a deserved point. Might even have won it with that Watt chance last few seconds. * Quite liked the look of McAleny, apart from that shocking early miss. * Apart from Pope, the only player I felt was very below par was KAG. Too may times we had a chance to cross but there was no-one even in their penalty area. With Watt dropping deep so much KAG should have been up on the last defender, not continually running wide. * Star performances from Bauer, Cousins, Watt and JBG. * Overall, much improved level of performance. Just hope we can get Henderson and Big Mak back for the tough trip to Reading in a couple of weeks.
Star performance for watt?? He was shite. Didn't look interested and every time he lost the ball he just walked around. Didn't try and win it back
Don't agree GJ. He picked the ball up well, turn and beat defenders, played people in. He does lose it sometimes and, yes, he does then have a little sulk, but he's one the the very few players we have who can actually make things happen in an attacking sense.

Robert Lee played for Charlton.
And I'm starting to see why he doesn't like us
Bet he don't remember playing for us though
Just a 30-something over the hill footballer dawdling into the box, nothing to see here
