Luzon just got asked on bbc London why watt started on the bench and he said it will remain between him and tony. Hope there's Not been a full out . Kashi, Bauer and diarra all class . Great second half
Fair play to Luzon for administering some discipline if tony had stuffed up, and well done tony for not sulking and giving everyone that performance 2nd half. Sounds good to me on all counts.
I don't care if he took a dump in Luzons toilet Robbie Savage style. He is too good to fall out with - give him his own personal shitter with a gold rimmed seat and Millwall bog roll I say.
Interesting price of honesty from Luzon. It would have been easy to cone up with a story, such as he wanted Watt as an impact player after qpr defenders were tiring.
I thought Ba shaded Kashi myself but midfield more solid than for ages and difficult to see where Cousins will fit as he had a quiet game wide. Bauer looks a steal and Sarr will have to be good to oust Diarra. Big Mac slightly better than Igor in the air but only when latter troubled by his achilles. Fox done for pace once but some quality 1 on 1 tackles. Pope very solid. Others usual games.
Edit. Realise now I got my numbers mixed up due to guy next to me. It was number 3 Kashi who impressed.
I'm not only glad because we won after the threatening and abusive behaviour of the QPR fans towards me before the game, I'm glad we won because we won. Three lovely juicy points, a clean sheet, and a very entertaining afternoon's football in every respect. There are no negatives, none, there may be a few 'I wishes' but really it was thoroughly good good good.
The game unfolded beautifully, QPR started with a thin residue of Premiership quality which had us on the back foot initially, and it ended with our crowd singing 'welcome to the championship' after we had mashed their sense of arrogant superiority, and gave them a good old dose of reality. before I continue let me emphasise that the best team on the day won, clearly and deservedly.
I think QPR had about 7 corners in the first ten or fifteen minutes, we looked a bit disjointed, but they only threatened once in that spell with a tame effort. We began to get a bit more purchase on the game, a foray here and there, and even an attacking free kick. Nick Pope pulled off a lovely flying save in the first half, and a Charlie Austin effort went pathetically for a throw in, at which he grinned and laughed...he will be off from that lot pretty soon I reckon.
Gradually our link up play started to work, Solly and Fox on the flanks influencing play, well assisted by Cousins and JBG, KAG was eager, and Simon was...well he was the Simon I suspect we will have to get used to all season. Enigmatic, not a natural footballer, but a useful player if you get my meaning.
Diarra and Bauer were really good and combative defensively, Ba generally quiet, but Kashi was just ahead of Solly as the best player in the first half. We're going to love Ahmed if he continues like this, I know he will make the odd mistake, but the lung bursting run he made back to help Fox after the corner he took (which might have been a training ground move that came off...it didn't) was absolutely brilliant, and typical of his play. Good good signing there.
Second half Watt came on, the game was transformed with his early goal which followed a great move, I am prepared to believe that Simon made a deliberate dummy to let Watt in, and although Green in the QPR goal was disappointed, I believe the power of Watts low shot meant that only a top class save or block would have stopped it anyway.
Cue rampant Charlton and withering QPR. Every player was so positive, throughout the game we doubled up on any dangerous QPR player until basically their spirit was broken, and the Fox goal was the marzipan, icing and cherry on the cake. I have seldom been so pleased with a goal as this one, because Morgan Fox has often been given pelters on here, and I am quite smug and proud that I have always stood up for him.
JBG was dreadfully unlucky with his free kick off the bar, and as the game closed out, Nick Pope did all those assured goalkeeper things you want to see to lock the door, keep the clean sheet, and claim the points.
Brilliant win, excellent.
MoM was probably just about Solly as he had Mackie to deal with, but no player was less that probably a seven, except maybe Ba and the subs, (bar Watt) even then Bergditch gave an eye catching vignette.
Plenty of smiling faces as I left the ground, I suspect there were other match day issues to discuss elsewhere, but for a first game of the season it was all about as splendid as you could possibly hope for.
A good performance. Gonna temper it, however, with the fact that QPR looked distinctly mediocre. But we still played really, really well. Grew into the game after the first 10 minutes or so, when they were on top, and no-one performed that badly to be honest. Good passing football, solid defence from Bauer and Diarra (who I have always had my doubts about but he proved me wrong today), and Kashi was excellent.
Second half - great work for Watt's goal, and Fox took his so sweetly. We looked like we could play some beautiful football at times and we did.
Can't really fault how we played - maybe that Ba and KAG looked a little not quite there yet? And a couple of silly corners at the start? But no point in nit-picking just yet. Ideally nip these things in the bud but with more match practice I can see quite an exciting team starting to build.
Very pleasing all round. All the new players contributed but it "old" boys with the goals.
Pope needed a clean sheet and a few good saves and catches which is what he got. QPR hardly tested him but when they did he was up to it. Long kicks too.
So pleased for the scapeFox. Had a tough opponent but kept at it and then scored a cracker. Bauer solid and Diarra, bar a few wild clearances and rightly given booking was well in control.
All the midfield were solid. Hunted in packs to close down rangers but Kashi was my MOTM Seems a very composed player and comfortable on the ball.
Thought Ba looked a little Bambi at times but also worked hard Should be a good player for us even though I'd prefer JC in the middle with Kish-i.
JC Just carried on where he left off. Excellent. Quite a narrow midfield which stopped QPR who pushed their full backs forward but didnt give us much going forward. Most of what we did have came from JBG who was very good again. Shame about the free kick that hit the bar.
Big Mak was a physical presence without getting on top of his markers but defends well at corners. Hill is a good defender and didn't have an easy game.
Don't know if KAG was played on merit or to shake up Watt but if so it worked. KAG didn't get much service but Watt gives us so much more.
Beautiful dummy from Mak for the first.
QPR the team and the fans look like they are used to losing. Started well on the pitch and in the stands but faded away. Surprised how little pace they had. Austin disinterested along with most of their players and all their fans by the end.
Our ground may be too big for us but our team's too good for you.
One win against what looked poor side but a win is a win.
We can and will need to improve and we'll need more signings and likes of Igor to be fit to keep this up but we won and we deserved it.
Good boy Popey - two quality saves at 0-0 that kept us in the game. Great to hear that roar for him after the first save - real confidence booster (just like old times at the Valley).
Behind Fox when he scored. Not complaining but he looked unsure what to do to me and just flashed it into the box. Doubt if he could see the goal with the players in front of him.
Great result and one we need with the start we have. Sat near to a young lad of about five and his dad, who were undercover QPR fans, when Watts goal went in the young lad had his head in his hands crying for about five minutes, I think he only just looked up in time for Foxs goal!.
Bit worried with Ba at first as he seemed to give the ball away all the time, he settled down in the second half so hopefully hes had his bad spell.
Gudmundssen Charlton's best player. All the new signing played well except Mankiof. Thought he was slow and just lazy. I thought KAG did ok. Lively, didn't hide, always showing for the forward pass.
Nothing negative to say about today's performance.
Pope in goal looked assured and has proven my fears nonsense.
Everyone else played their part. Special mention to Watt and Kashi.
One concern. Without Igor we are woefully short up front ( q 6ft 7in jokes) currently if we lose either TW or SM we are in trouble. KAG has plenty of potential but he's not ready for the championship yet. If there are any doubts about Igor we must act.
Great start and looks like Guy Luzon is a man with a plan.

Ridiculous view of Makienok. Ask Clint Hill if he was lazy and whether he has been in a game today?
He did some brilliant defensive work, a lovely dummy in the build up to Watt's goal and for a first game in the Championship I thought he put himself about really well. Good with the ball at his feet and won a fair few headers.
Well, that rounded off a 3-day 50th birthday celebration for me very nicely. As others have said, QPR had it in the first 10 minutes; had loads of corners but the closest they came in first half was when Pope pulled off a save from a snap shot. Second half was different, mainly because of Watt being on and worrying their defence. Loved Fox's goal, particularly as some blokes behind me had been slagging him off a bit earlier. Of the new signings, Bauer looked solid, Ba grew into the game, Kashi was everywhere - particularly in the first half, Makienok had a better 2nd half and won more headers defensively than offensively. Given the numbers in, and the questions over Pope, I thought that today went as well as it could have done. A few niggles - couldn't hear any of the annoucements. New screen didn't show subs as well. But overall, thanks for my birthday present CAFC!
I'm starting to like Luzon more and more. He's doing it his way and considering he hasn't got a great track record he's very self assured. Kashi looks a great player.

He accepted it because he didn't have a choice lol
Kept playing keep ball at Sparrows Lane
Bauer , Kashi and Mak look great signings .
Mak dummy for first goal was very nice.
And Tony Watt being Tony Watt made the difference
Coyr

Up the Addicks.

Think he will be the new Buyens - both in style of play and the marmite factor.
Got me 5 points in the Sky6 so yippee.
