Charlton v QPR Post-match Views 2015

Sounds like we were even matched sides up until half-time. The introduction of Tony Watt was the game changer by the sounds of things.
Brilliant performance by the defence to keep Charlie Austin, Jamie Mackie and Matt Phillips quiet.
They were a side made up mostly of Premier League quality players, and it sounds like we beat them convincingly by the end of it.
Gutted I couldn't make it but excited to hear from those that were at the game.

Kashi - serious fucking player.51

Listened in on player, we sounded like we handled them pretty comfortably. A Happy day for the club and supporters. I'll be over in a couple of weeks to catch a game. Hoping for more of the same. Well done Charlton.1

Why GL kept Watt until the second half, but who cares, he knows what he doing0

Fantastic start, Charlie Austin who?
First Saturday of the Championship season comes to a close and we are second, get in!
Well done you Mighty Addicks!2 -
Great start - well done the lads.
Thanks for the commentary Red1 -
To those there, how did Fox and Popey (as well as the new signings) get on?
Optimistic after today's good result but let's hammer it home and really have a marker laid down by the end of the month.1 -
You know very well Callum, they both played well, and if your waiting for those that run them down to admit it, you will wait a long timeCallumcafc said:To those there, how did Fox and Popey (as well as the new signings) get on?

Just taken a break from heavy drinking in Zante to read through the match thread, absolutely buzzing, perfect hangover cure!!
Liking the sound of the new recruits and can't wait to see them in action!

One game does not make a man, however it does help. Great game everyone did play well. Just hope we can continue the tempo and quality.0

It was a cunning plan to lull them into a false sense of security!ross1 said:Why GL kept Watt until the second half, but who cares, he knows what he doing

3 points, putting a team with an overly inflated opinion of itself in its place, decent to excellent debuts all round, a clean sheet for Nicky 'Not-Good-Enough' Pope, and match winning contributions from Tony 'Can't Finish' Watt and Morgan 'League One' Fox.
Lovely Jubbly!40 -
Watched Foxy's goal on Periscope and I must say I was pleasantly shocked, looked like a lovely strike from the left footed wizard. Couldn't think of a better way to start the season. Be interested to see why KAG started over Watt but by all accounts bringing in Watt at the half was the game changer so I won't argue with Luzon. Great result and excited for what's to come!!2

Absolutely brilliant. Impressive all round. Big well done to Nick Pope, well deserved clean sheet.3
-
Well done to Luzon and the team, important clean sheet for Popey and the new boys at the back, and Watt will be taking the pressure off the other strikers popping up as quick as that.. Very impressive result.3

Say it quietly, but Ahmed Kashi, IMO will be the signing of the summer. Possibly the new Mark Kinsella. He was absolutely brilliant.28

Don't agree that Watt was the game changer, just that the whole team upped their game. Don't agree they were a team of Premier League quality players otherwise they would still be in the PL.JakeCAFC_94 said:Sounds like we were even matched sides up until half-time. Even first half, QPR started brightly but we finished the better. Second half was completely one sided. Watt scared the life out of them.
Classic holding midfielder display from Kashi. Very, very promising debut. A few nice touches from Makeniok without setting the world alight. I can tell from one game that he won't be troubling the top scorers table but could be a nuisance, perhaps better off the bench.
Cousins everywhere, Solly assured in attack and defence, Fox started a little nervously but had an excellent second half, Pope handled everything with ease. Ba was a little slow in possession but showed enough to suggest he could do well for us. Bergdich was positive when he came on.
Special mention to the centre halves, who were solid defensively and calm in possession, and to JBG for a performance full of industry as well as invention.
QPR very disappointing, not sure how long Ramsay will last as he didn't do a lot to change things, despite it clearly not working.
A great start to the season. COYR.11 -
A goal and an assist makes him the game changerLargeAddick said:

What sort of player is Kashi then? More box to box than advertised?0
-
Bauer and Diarra were also very good. Be hard to see Sarr dislodging either of them.0
-
I am struggling to think of a player who didn't have a great game. Pope had little to do but what he did, he did very well. Bauer and Diarra were rocks. JBG was class and like others have said, Kashi looks quality. Does the dirty work but also very good on the ball. Really like Ba as well - grew into the game and looks really good on the ball. Lovely pass in the build up to the first. Cousins was out of position but still great - Bergdich did a great job on the left and that shows we have options when we need Cousins back in the middle.
Makienok was really nice with the ball at his feet - he will always be one of the front two as he will set up more than he scores. Watt was a game changer.5 -
Luzon finally got a song!7
-
In traffic but in a great mood.
Bauer had a great start and looks very good.
Kashi... deserves his own post after that.. Excatley what we needed!
All around great performance and looking forward to the start off the season.
Loved Luzon doing the lap around the pitch after too.7 -

Wasn't the full game, a guy I follow on Twitter was doing live updates and happened to do one during Fox's goal. @thestevecook is his username for both Twitter and PeriscopeStu_of_Kunming said:

Busy at work in the hospital and didn't get to check scoreline until after the game ended. So chuffed we're off to a flyer. Watt is the man. Really pleased he's got his boots on and hoping he's going to do something special this year. The new Fox in the box deserve's a bottle of something fizzy tonight.
So looking forward to Derby now. Oh and Dagger's.
Bought my daughter the new shirt this week for her birthday. May need to buy myself one now
