  • Who was it that was assuring us that we'd got far more for Joe Gomez ?
  • A lot of people who were in the know apparently threw out comments such as 'trust me, the figure is much higher'

I don't want to give this mob the benefit of the doubt but it could well be what we got up front and there's going to be more coming in from clauses etc..

Was it one of the guys from the comms team ?
  • See page 25 of the accounts. States that £6.24million possibly due from player sales based on future appearances etc. Is this all Gomez??

I'd imagine Poyet has some substantial add on's too. Not that they'll ever be realised mind.

Possibly, but a lot of people were saying the same.

We haven't "got" it then. The correct transfer fee is therefore the £3.5m that was reported at the time. Whether we get another couple of mil if Joe Gomez one day walks on the moon or whatever is inconsequential and it's mis-leading for people to suggest otherwise.

    The operative word being POSSIBLY.

No use to us until we have it.

Let's hope to God it doesn't happen to Joe but cruciates can and have finished careers or severely impaired players from what they were so no guarantees even if that possible future revenue is theoretically him.
  • The 'deal' is worth more than the 3.5 mill first payment.

No it isn't. The deal is "worth" whatever we end up getting, right now it's probably £3.5m. Might be more on the future, might not be, but right now it's £3.5m.

Unless we've received more based on his appearances for Liverpool since then.

Yeah those appearance fees must be rolling in !

What if it's a guaranteed fee in the next few seasons? Hardly any transfers are lump sum these days.

Could have been a fee after his first apperance.

In that case it would have to be included in the stated profit now. If it's guaranteed it's not material to the declared profit when it's paid.

Possibly - there's a "Post Balance Sheet Event" of £299,500 related to the disposal of players' registrations which could be Gomez's debut.

We've spent £2.5m since then on new players !

    Exactly.

It's shown as a 'contingent' receipt. In simple terms if this happens and that happens then we could get this money.

If it doesn't though we won't.

    Anterior cruciate ligament.
  • More importantly, does anybody know how much we paid for Francis Jeffers?

The funniest bit of info on that screen shot is the rise in staffing costs due to the increased player wages to remain competitive, hahahaha they got that badly wrong.

If you think that's funny you should the whole thing (and then you'd cry, for hours).

    2.6m
  • Good thing we sold him when we did, blokes a busted flush
  • What a shame for him.

Busted flush? He picked up an ACL - an injury that any player can pick up, and now a second unrelated injury.

    Whoosh
  • What a shame for the kid.
