You also have to decide if you really need the player. The problem with these loans is that their clubs expect them to play. At the moment, we need them as cover, unless they are a top, top player. Williams has hardly played this season - he could be decent or could be rubbish - Palace have loaned him because he needs games - who do we drop if he came here?

With the frequency of games we are going to have between now and the end of the season I think we will need to be very lucky to only need to drop people to accomodate incomings.
Charlton should not be scrabbling around in the emergency window loan in the first place. This season, relegation is avoidable or it would be with a half decent strategy. Player recruitment and retention has been casual and poor. Two games a week from next week with a weak squad is a big ask and relies on injuries and suspensions not happening. Not impressed.
I agree its not where we had to be, but blame that ore on MS and TJ, but agree that RD needs to have made funds available to bring in champ experienced numbers as perm signings as well as the potential loans, but if we don't play incoming players you can understand the reluctance of players to come to us.
Sure TJ / MS have to hold a lot of responsibility for the state of player contracts and run down nature of the club. There was sufficient time to get sufficient quality in. Rolands player recruitment and retention has been very casual given the situation and this is where the major problem has been and is. Loan players should play if they are producing the goods and adding something to the team. Does any player get a guarantee to play in any team ? Should Sordell feel hard done by for not playing? He has not done enough to earn it. I am not sure that loanees not getting sufficient game time is the reason. I think that being the major reason is a bit of a urban myth IMO.
If we can't get a good winger on loan what about a right back? Could move Wilson into midfield. Scored twice v Brighton when played there. Wouldn't expect regular goals from him but he's far more suited to the position than Cousins.
We need to bring in a couple of players of sufficient quality who will walk in the team. Not easy and guaranteeing games to a player who might not do it for you can't be the right approach.
Now Yann has gone, we badly need a forward that can head a ball. Sadly we have no one, only Jacko in midfield and Morro. Surely management can see the obvious. How come Millwall seem to be picking up players and we can't? That really guts me! We must be a better prospect than that lot!

I assume that it's because they are prepared to pick up more of the players wages than we are.
Agree the footballing prospects would appear to be similar.
there is obviously something wrong between the owner and the management as the club have received funds from recent transfers and the cup run, yet since the opening of the loan window no business has been transacted whilst our rivals have been busy. With the fixture pile up and the current weakness of the squad it is obvious to us fans that the team need strengthening, the overriding questionis why hasn't this been done?
Its a good question. Maybe Roland is not prepared to pay the going rates for players in the UK ? RD maybe correct and ahead of the curve FFP, and these rates are too high, but that is not helping Charlton retain championship status this season. Unfortunately Roland maybe a bit too far ahead of the curve for this season. The future, who knows ?
I live in hope. A couple of decent loans can still do it. As President says on their prediction thread 44 / 45 points may be enough for safety.

We offered to pay all of jonny williams' wages so you cant say the owner isnt releasing funds
Not everything needs someone to blame, we have clearly been in for players and maybe we've just been unlucky that they've chosen other teams instead of ours.
That's the luck of the draw, if a player wants to go to another team no amount of talking will make them change their mind.

When choosing a club to go out on loan to, it may be that player is also checking out the club to see that they may have a future there. If Roland is not paying the going rate for wages for whatever reason, then that player may choose to go to a different club where they feel that they may get a chance of a decent contract in future. Respecting the existing contract a player is on is minimum but not the whole story.
Why are the loan targets going elsewhere ? It would be helpful to find the answer to that question.

Because we keep sitting them on the bench would you come just to sit on the bench?.Get the last 5 minutes think word has got around

could it be the state of our pitch,or our owners don't want any loans apart from the ones which play for his other clubs

Kap10 suggested that earlier in the thread, with all due respect to you (+ kap10), I think it is a bit of a urban myth. There are some clear positions in the team that need strengthening and if a loan player is producing the goods and adding something to the team, there is no reason why they should not hold that position down.
Does any player get a guarantee to play in any team ? Should Sordell feel hard done by for not playing? Has he done enough to secure it ? I am not sure that loanees not getting sufficient game time is the reason. As in many things in football, it often comes down to the money.
Accepting no one has a divine right to play as a potential loanee I would look at our record of playing players on loan from the start of a game and question whether I want to come and risk not starting, when there are other teams which have a record of playing their loanees interested in me.
Look at the situation with Tudguy, can he really be less of a threat than Church and yet yesterday its the player labelled as "Sponge foot" that gets the nod.
There is a rumour (and who knows if it is true) that some clubs (Spurs) and agents have blacklisted us, because players they have let us have for game time have not received it.
Finally, I am not saying we should play loanees who are not performaing, but we should be getting on loanees who have been brought in to fill gaps and be targetted to be starters. The fact that over 24 months that has not been the majority case questions our recruitment policy - whoever has brought the players in.

If you look at our record of using loanees it really is poor.
Believe the max we can have is five in the squad.
Forget Koc and sordell has been dropped so two places available.
A striker and a centre half please.
There are 3 loans today but Reza is a perm . Tudgay is the third loan . If Dillon Phillips was on the bench it would free up another slot.
Sadly we have no one, only Jacko in midfield and Morro.

"He is a talent, but he needs to play a consecutive run of games and hopefully he will get a run at Ipswich with Mick [McCarthy].
"Ipswich are a fantastic football club with fantastic facilities and great support.
"Mick is a very good manager who will look after him and we are hoping and praying he will do as well as we think he will."
