Hooray, we have a scapegoat again at last! At least Hamer will be pleased it's not him.

I was concerned about Forest / Blackburn / Blackpool / and Wigan in October about how many points we would pick up but Charlton did OK that month.

    Charlton V Derby - Sat 14 Dec / Bolton V Charlton : Sat 21 / Charlton V Brighton Thu 26 Dec / Charlton V Sheff Wed - Sun 29 Dec

    January 2014 Ipswich V Charlton - Wed 1 Jan / Charlton V Barnsley - Sat 11 Jan / Middlesbrough V Charlton - Sat 18 Jan / Charlton V Bournemouth - Sat 25 Jan / Doncaster V Charlton - Tue 28 Jan

The team has got to show some real spirit over the next 2 months.

From the Massives on Dec 29 and through Januray 13 will be key for the season. As Curbs always said that in a relegation scrap it is important to get results against the team around you.

I am encouraged that Chris Solly is back. I hope that he will be approaching some kind of match fitness and form by the time the massives arrive at the Valley. Chris Solly is a better right back then Wilson and gives better balance in the team. If Wiggins is playing well then there are no weaknesses in these areas.

KMG will hopefully have recovered some of his form by then. Maybe Sordell should be given a final chance and KMG should be on the subs bench to focus his mind a bit. If Sordell does not work out hopefully there will be loan funds available for a decent striker.

Maybe the ownership question may have gotten sorted out as well by then and whoever is owning the club, will be convinced that sorting out some loans to secure Championship status is important.

There are 3 worse teams in the division then Charlton just about, even at this point. Charlton Supporters need to get behind the team. Display a bit of fortitude, positivity and strength.

Unless you know exactly what goes on in training, exactly what happens in the dressing room, exactly what is said between Dyer and Powell on the sidelines then how can you possibly say if he is or isn't doing enough?!!

If you don't then any criticism or praise of Dyer is surely pure speculation, based on name and reputation than anything else?

My comment was not a criticism of Dyer but simply a question of what does he bring to the table. Maybe if people read an opinion, took 5 minutes to digest what was actually written before replying then this forum would be a better place to be.
For the record, I have watched Alex in action at the training ground and during a match.

  • Can't believe earlier post that Wiggins was best player on the pitch. I was there. He was poor. Ok defensively but distribution terrible. IMO tactics cost us. On about 60 mins we should've replaced Church with a midfielder to protect the centre backs
  • Fair few people on here and facebook saying how we bossed the game, I must've been watching something else because that just wasn't the case. If Yeovil weren't so shite themselves they could've been 2 up before Stewart's moment of magic, and Miller missed a great chance to make it 3-2 at the end. They looked dangerous on every attack, which says more about us then it does them IMO.

We had a good period just before HT, and again at the start of the 2nd half, but apart from that we were cack. Long balls to no one, short passes missing their target, absolutely no movement off the ball. The list could go on.

Stand out performers were Stewart and Wiggins, and Alnwick looked solid. Everyone else was pretty average.

Doesn't bode well for Derby next week.

So you should be able to answer your own question of what he brings to the party. Or was it rhetorical?

Ridiculous and shows you know f@*! all about football.
  • I started to get the hump with Mervyn Day. Looking back, it was completely irrational. I got the impression that he didn't much like the Charlton fans. Then I persuaded myself that an ex-keeper couldn't bring much to outfield play and tactics. I have never met Mervyn Day.

It was a complete load of old twaddle I told myself then, and looking back, I am thoroughly ashamed of myself. As should anyone here be who tries to convince themselves they have any kind of insight on what Alex Dyer does and how well he does it.
  • What a day yesterday...i was up watching cowdenbeath v livingstone....at 16.35 both were winning 2-0, Cowden let in 3 goals in the last 13 mins and then found out we drew 2-2.....well gutted.
  • Looking at the Jacko challenge I think it's a yellow. He tries to avoid 2 feet, tries to keep one behind him and gets the ball with one foot and follows through at. The other foot in end avoids their player. But if that had been Frank Lampard for example he would have escaped with a yellow because we know referees are the FA are totally corrupt and that there is conspiracy theory. So maybe we should not be too surprised that Jacko was sent even though I thought a red was unlucky.
  • I thought we played well for 70 mins and then just lost the plot. Senior players like Jackson and Hughes should know better and let cp down. Hughes challenge was poor, in front of the home end the ref was always going to give a pen and Jackson flew in because he was fouled just before and it looked a bit petulant. Yann worked hard but was well marked and didn;t seem to have his usual spring, i wonder if hes still carrying an injury. Good run for the Stewart goal though, opening up the space. Great to see Solly back and expect to see him and Wilson on the rhs from now on. Ishmael Miller falls over a lot for a big man.

People that were there have already said in the thread that they thought as it happened it was a red. A referee has a split second to decide, looked on TV like a red to me. To say there is a conspiracy theory is a joke. I don't know that referees at the FA are corrupt and \I would love to see the evidence for that. As far as I am aware its a difficult job, there is a need to find a way of raising referee standards but corrupt it is not, but would be happy to see evidence to prove otherwise.
  • Bolloxbolder; which of Wiggins' numerous mis-placed passes impressed you so much?

He was up and down the touchline the whole game, and was an outlet for the whole game, something Wilson failed to do. A truly magnificent sliding tackle (for those not there equivalent to Solly at Cardiff last season) to prevent a clear run on goal, immediately followed by a lung bursting run to their penalty box, where, admittedly he lost the ball.

You appear to be the only one on this thread who felt he was poor, including the views of Yeovil fans reported back from the game. For the record imo Wiggins is the only regular starter who could play in the premiership and I fear we could lose him over the next six months.

Maybe you can refresh my memory of the losses of possession he exhibited yesterday?

I always thought this until in our relegation year from the Premiership we beat West Spam 4-0 and we still went down after they beat Man U 1-0 on the last day of the season.

I think it best you try to win ALL your games, not just the ones against teams around you !!

You should be more ashamed of that last post, he's paid to coach footballers to win matches and improve players, doesn't seem to be doing either that well at the moment does he. Quite simple really.

You're spot on. Every single assistant manager who isn't in a top 6 team is terrible and must be sacked.

And talking about improving players - Wilson, Dervite, Cousins, Stephens, Stewart have all got considerably worse over their time with Dyer haven't they? Oh wait...
This. I think it's one or two people on here who are quite simple really.

Croydon. Are you serious!!, Did you really go? We were totally in control for over an hour until the own goal. However you are right in the fact that at 2-0 up, our tactics were wrong. We needed a third goal. As you said too many hit and hopes. Yeovil just baomarded our goal for the last 20, Dubious penalty, and they were dead lucky to get a draw, had we had a good striker we would have definitely won the game, Yan not in form, Church not good enough. Also balance of side seemed to go when Cousins got injured

Listen to Gary Johnson before the game (wr had a meal in their hospitality restaurant). Gaty johnson comes up at 2.10 before every game to talk to the fans.

On us...he said that our main tactic is to get it up to kerms head and onto churches run. If you can defend against that then you can stiffle us and then the game is there to win

Was als9o sat right in front of the jackson red card...my initial thought was it was a red

Would also like to add how wonderful and friendly the yeovil fans and employees are. Although we were charlton in the home hospitality area, they treated us wonderfully. A great club and i hope they stay up with us and look forward to going back down there next season

They didn't let me and my mate in the beer tent. Allowing away fans in was what set them apart as a club.
