  • The 5 year plan is to sell the club for a profit and spend as little as possible achieving it?
  • Someone must have been there! Anyone?

What I'm confused about is that apparently this was a supporter's group meeting with a Q&A - but nothing else has been reported from it, not a peep. He must have said more than the one sentence on the trust website... So why is no-one expanding on it?

Something doesn't smell right (a criticism of Slater not the trust!!)

All very odd. Every supporters club meeting gets a write up of sorts on here, yet despite how many members are on this site not a single person went to the meeting or can report on it -meanwhile the trust get an "exclusive" single line comment from the night.

    Strange.

No mention he was even due to attend one?!?!?

    The silence is deafening

This 100%. Its rare the chairman attends such meetings isn't it? so surprising we heard nothing about it in advance? And even rarer that nobody on here was there or commented? I may have missed, apologies if so. but i for one smell a rat

  • At what meeting, where, did he allegedly say this ?
  • In the war we would often give information to the Germens to keep them off the scent.

So that's why there's so many pigeons at the Valley, they do cause a lot of s**t don't they;-)

'When the pigeons come to walk the valley pitch they are looking for seed to feed their young. The pigeons fly away satisfied with their seed. It is not necessarily 'owever very good for the pitch' (Eric Cantona's younger brother)
  • was this "Q&A last night for East Kent BTTV21" actually a work of fiction?

I'm beginning to think so. Perhaps the Trust could follow this up by contacting the person who gave them the info.
  • Lol I'm trying to work out which questions are serious here.

Rest assured unless I was 100% (as much as anyone realistically can be) certain of the information I would not publish. As far as I am aware the question was asked as part of a brief q&a at the ek bttv21 a 'public' event which was supported by the trust at eks express request and heavily publicised, promoted on our website, we even did the poster for it - and that all that was said on the topic is in the article.

I personally think it was a very interesting comment and needed to be aired. Some people will always criticise us and thats their prerogative, but bottom line for me is people would want to know this, and a lot of our members/ subscribers, etc aren't on cl

I think its worth following up for a number of reasons but initially perhaps fans should be allowed to make up their own minds on this.

I honestly think that the lack of content with the article is damaging yours and the trusts credibility here, unless I am way off key in which case I apologise

why has there been no write up of this meeting on this thread, it is all looking a bit like

    need to know basis

not doing the trusts PR any good right now IMO
  • For all future q&a sessions can a suggest a "fake sheikh" style hidden camera?
  • Wasn't a meeting NLA. It was east Kent's 21 year back to the valley dinner. Raz says there was a brief q and a with MS. However all that has been reported is this little snippet. Very strange. Event was heavily plugged on here and a fair few went to said event but no other mention or comment of this anywhere except the Trust site. All very odd.

Not sure why it should be up to us to report anything else, and I wasn't there, but like I said as far as I am aware that is all there was said on the topic.

Its up EK peeps to report anything else about the event not sure what else you want me to say?

  • that's enough for me Razil tbh, I thought the way it was reported it was a joint venture I agree if it was not a trust event its not for the trust to do the follow up report, just seemed a bit odd to me, and maybe the EK guys should've broke the news from slater as well
  • Did'nt the EK guys care, or follow up with probing questions about the SLP/Takeover thing?
  • That's the weird thing about it, he says that and then........................................................................................ silence!
Was everyone's memory wiped, men in black style?

You get the Chairman right where you want him, irrespective of this particular comment, and no one's asking anything?
  • there were without questions asked and only those there could explain why the silence, I can not believe that no one in the EK supporters club was not born with a pair big enough to ask the questions
  • Everything else in existence seems to find it's way online, yet from this Q&A there's no more than a one line statement.

Are there not enough MINERALS in east Kent?

  • I think the qa was only a brief thing at the end of the event
  • yea I understand that, and believe me I'm not shooting the messenger, the fact that you put us onto this tiny nugget is greatly appreciated, It's just the radio silence is deafening
  • Raz the Q and A may have been brief but what was the point in slater being there then, sorry all seems to me a bit odd

if we had a statement in the national press about the club in advance TO talks and a week later the chairman is at an event, I can not believe he would've only been asked a couple of brief qs

seems to me EK people that were there are either unwilling to tell what happened or had no balls to ask the pertinent Qs
  • Actually that's a good point, It was in the national press, and so one would assume everyone at this subsequent gathering had read or knew about it, and so there you find yourself in the same room as the chap. Is Chatham in East Kent?
  • what amazes me is that Michael Slater can find his way down to Sittingbourne or wherever this function was held but can't find his way to The Valley for home games.
  • What's the Trust's data on Charlton Supporters that don't read the national press, never browse CharltonLife, but live in East Kent?
  • by the look of things, those very people were the only ones present...
  • Was the q& a for Slater or old pros ?
Did anyone ask Richard Murray any pertinent questions last week at the Bttv dinner (I was too pissed to remember)
  • I blame Ben Hamer.
