PITL - Maybe they are planning on selling Solly, Cousins and Harriott. Maybe some of the current squad will be retained - depending on which players are available on a free that are better than what we, already, have.
J Block - Not absolutely pony, but are in a lower position in the current table than we were in League One with the players that we released. I agree that they are not 'pony' but we are forth from bottom, just how good are our current players, and more importantly how good are the weak ones if we have a few decent players in the squad?
Bubble - I suspect that a lot of the drop that season was due to the fact that Parkinson could, to a large degree, polish a turd in way that Powell couldn't, or wouldn't, by playing some of the least inspiring football I've even seen. Successful it was (based on the quality he had available) but hardly enjoyable.
cafctom - You suggesting that we have four players that are good enough for promotion? Cousins has a three year contract; Solly has a four year contract; and Yann and JJ are both past 30 and have both suffered extended periods out of the side with injury in both this season and last season. I'm more than happy for them to be retained, but neither have been match fit for months. I would, personally, be inclined to wait until they have made a full recovery from their injuries before I have them a new contract - after all, they are not 21 any more.
For once the usual know-alls have not claimed that they knew about the five year plan all along. If the big beasts of CL didn't know about it, clearly it cannot exist.
Take over or not, it is questionable just how many of the players we have with contracts running out are good enough to challenge for promotion to the Premier League. I mean, if they were that good we would be, well, higher up the table wouldn't we?
I agree with this and have said it before. I'm not sure very many at all are top Championship players. At this moment in time I can't think of one I'm desperate for us to sign up long term.
Don't know whether Slater ever used the expression 5 year plan but I certainly remember it being said after they took over and gave SCP the funds in the summer of 2011 to rebuild his squad that they envisaged that it would take up to two years to get out of League 1 and then we achieved it in one.
SCP has also said consolidation is the key both last season and this season and he has stated that we overachieved last year.I hope we will have some investment in the summer as it is believed that contracts will be lower and players will have less bargaining power than before ,an example would be Cedric Evina who I remember reading summer rumours on Sky linking him with Leeds,Reading and Wolves yet he ended up taking the one year deal which was on offer from us.
I guess the board also hope that more of our academy youngsters can step up to the plate in the way Jordan Cousins has this season. That said I personally hope we sign Alnwick,Dervite,Hamer,Jackson,Kermorgant,Morrison ,Wiggins and Wood soon because I think that could be the spine of a promotion squad with some useful reinforcements.Others like Cort,Evina,Gower,Green,Hollands and Hughes could provide the space in the squad for reinforcements.
It can't be in TJ and MS's interests for us to be relegated because it would drastically reduce the value of the club.

What's happened to you recently? You've been consumed by a massive chip on your shoulder!
1. We do not have a 5 year plan, but (don't tell anyone will you) actually we do. 2. Slater cannot comment on the SLP/Daily Mail takeover stories. What? Oh, sorry, he can and it isn't imminent. 3. We're going to finish just under mid-table. Not playing as we are at the moment we're not.
Can't believe anything Slater says.
And, by the way, shouldn't he have told the whole fan base via the OS instead of commenting at one particular meeting? No disrespect to the East Kent guys and girls but he makes a career out of saying fuck all and then, like all good farts, slips one out on the quiet.
Just like he rubbished what I had overhead at the club about the European investment of the Personns last year at the Huddersfield game in November. Haynes was talking about it with another member of staff who I can't name.
He's back tracked as he has been on record saying that there was no five year plan. I can't remember exactly when, Henry do you know as I seem to remember you using that as a source on various occasions?
Is the Trust website the correct place to post a one line piece of hearsay from a supporter's club meeting in any case? Without additional details it just raises more questions and is a return to the sensationalist tabloid headline style approach the Trust site seems to adopt all too regularly as click-bait.
To post it without questioning Slater's comments against previous denials, non-denials and statements also seems like an opportunity missed.
However - we have a two page thread on here and god knows how many hits to the site after posting it so it could be argued that it served it's purpose. I'm still not sure the Trust should handle itself like this though.

think they do it so it can make them look like they are important and maybe the mouthpiece of the fans. I can't see really why it's Trust news. Still can't see why this one throwaway comment has been reported without further info. Was this comment said to all present or to one person in a private conversation? If the former I would have thought someone actually there would have commented by now.
so the Chairman of CAFC makes a comment about a strategic plan and you are saying we shouldn't post it... and u think we would post a comment that was hearsay...really guys?
guys love u all madly, but I'm slightly pissed (for any americans watching that means tipsy) trying to pretend to do some work, and its my fifth wedding anniversary today (which is a minor miracle).. and not sure the point I was trying to make, but whatever..

by not putting any flesh on the bones I can't really say

Ok. Carry on.
Plans change, of course, but if people think there was no plan from the start then they're deluded, in my opinion.

Is that in case people started asking him difficult questions about takeovers and five year plans?
Thought better of Keith though.

"we're fucked!"

Take what he says with a pinch of salt IMO.
