if thats the case then they need to get digging behind the sofa and give scp some money asap to get some bodies down to sparrows lane otherwise its league one and god knows what to come.
Razil, I don't know why it grates with me but does everything you post have to be linked to the trust site? Couldn't you just have posted what was said on here or do you get a fiver for every hit to the trust site or something.
I agree we'd like more info on this, can anyone who was present (VIP meeting perhaps) when the five year plan was mentioned shed some light on exactly what was said?
So he thinks we will finish just below half way. I respectfully suggest he gets his arse down to The Valley a bit more often because I see nothing to suggest that we are not in for a very tight relegation scrap.
funny five year plan where the third year is strip the squad to the bone and flirt with relegation maybe even going down. that would mean consecutive promotions in years four and five. plus how does he think we will finish just below mid-table if things carry on as they are.
I seem to remember when they first took over the ultimate plan was to get back to the Prem, is that the five year plan? If so, does he really think we are still on course for this? so is not giving the manager a new contraxct part of this too? all a bit fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiishy...
How long is left of the five year plan? Two more years? Given that Michael Slater said himself that he is transferring £1,000,000 per month into the club God bless him, then there is another £24,000,000 to yet be transferred, God bless him even more.
Maybe we are going to shed most of the current squad in the summer, when their contracts run out, and sign another twelve players that will walk this division next season. I know that sounds silly but that is pretty much, exactly, what they did in the summer of 2011.
Also I have to float this idea. As we are all (well most on here are) screaming out for the club to sign better players, and all the while we are forth from bottom and potentially in the relegation zone if we lose tomorrow, why would we want to give all of the current squad longer contracts?
I mean if we were second in the division then I'd agree completely but if we give all the current first team new three year deals does that mean we accept that we are expecting relegation battles for the next three seasons?
Somewhere there is a flaw in that logic. Take over or not, it is questionable just how many of the players we have with contracts running out are good enough to challenge for promotion to the Premier League. I mean, if they were that good we would be, well, higher up the table wouldn't we?
Do you think they sat down two and a half years ago and determined that Year 3 would be a rest year where they would weaken the squad, pimp the club out in a glossy brochure and appear to all and sundry to be so skint that they can't even secure new contracts for the manager or any player that doesn't have an obvious and material resale value? And maybe get relegated again undoing the good work from year one.
If so then the plan is still being perfectly executed.

Summer 2011 was pretty much the opposite situation is why. In summer 2011 we were able to shed a number of under performing players on high value contracts (and sell a couple of decent players too) in order to assemble a squad to challenge for the title.
The players that are out of contract at the end of this season will not free up a ton of money that will enable us to build a squad to challenge for promotion, it'd require a massive outlay to bring that kind of squad together and if they're planning on doing that then why have a gap year this year that may mean we have an extra division to climb by the time next season kicks off?

But you have to realise we let all the players go in the title winning summer because they were absolute pony, this mob aren't

If we are using that as a guide, it's worth noting how the team performed when the large majority were out of contract during the previous Winter/Spring 2011 - we don't have the luxury of plummeting from 5th this time round

I think we have a strong team, but there are a few major weaknesses that have been our downfall.
The likes of Jackson, Yann, Cousins, Solly are all good enough for promotion squads. Lets not lose sight of the fact that the core of our current team got us to within 3 points of the playoffs last season.
We have been let down by the lack of quality in backing up those players when injuries occur or things need shaking up. Players like Joe Piggott aren't going to be of any real use in the matchday squad, but they're there as we have nobody else. SCP has to be partially accountable for that, but I don't think even he expected the likes of Marvin Sordell to be as bad as he has been.

How about contracts for players AND management???
Strange that he is now saying their is a five plan as he has never said there was before and Murray said there wasn't a five year plan.
But if he said there is a five year plan then what is it?
And what did he say about Harris and the story in the SLP?
AshfordAddick or anyone, can you expand please?
personally I wouldn't trust anything he says.
