  • SELR_addick. Thanks for your comment, I would be interested to know exactly what you don't agree with ? It is obviously a fact that whatever situation you are born into is for you the norm, and you accept it as such. Therefore presumably you accept an England where in many places elderly people are frightened to leave their homes in the evening because of the behaviour of some ( I stress SOME ) young people. Move forward another 50 years, which I obviously won't, and I hate to imagine what this country will be like.
  • Couple of points;
    1) Palace scored 5, Brighton scored none, Brighton take it up the bum. Really shows the level of wit in Surrey.

That's not the words to the song. If they're going to complain at least get the words right......

Seriously, how many fans at Brighton are gay ? I can understand that a lot of Tottenham fans are Jewish as this represents the local community and young Jewish boys and girls are taken to football by their Jewish parents.

I worked for a Jewish firm of accountants a few years ago, and interestingly as many of them were Arsenal supporters as Tottenham. After all Golders Green is much more Arsenal territory than Tottenham.

As an aside, when Spurs fans call themselves the Yid army, are they being offensive or are they cleverly deflecting back the abuse?

Yeah ... the issue is new generation of fans and older fans like they say ... its not really right for a 8 year old to ask his dad what taking it up the bum means (one of palace chants)... I personally think its fine for them to raise this and highlight it ...

Weren't such chants aimed at Beckham about his wife as well, so it's not just a gay thing...
  • And the posh spice is a slapper song is a great football banter chant not to everyone's cup of tea i am sure but is harmless banter

Of course vic and David won't like it but it's football not snooker or chess

Yeah going football was a lot safer 30 years ago..........
  • I remember the tears we had over that Danny murphey's wife chant.

hilarious thread that was. Total drama queens.
  • I think Joey Barton should join this thread...http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22022259
  • ... Im pretty sure brighton fans take the piss out of other teams fans and so they should. Was it them chanting 'dirty northen bastards' to us a couple of years back? (it may have been another south coast team)

Obviously there is a line, which most people in society adhere to. But for gods sake people, stop getting offended for no bloody reason

They were singing about us being 'pikies' on Tuesday night ... didn't worry me as we've heard it many times before
  • Bit that's racist and no one is sticking up for us or considering our feelings I can't believe the hypocrisy on this site it's disgraceful

I may also be wrong but perhaps they have fewer children than non-gay people.

I take it you've not been to Turkey baster's R Us then :-)

  • We should launch a complaint about trainspottingism.

With you there. I'm going to go crying to the teacher because I got called an anorak.
  • Dirty gays!
  • The minute that saying something as basic and non abusive as I can see you holding hands is deemed as abuse then we are in a bad place for football

What is abusive about offensive about holding hands

It is a boring Chant that has lost its appeal to me personally but I defend the right of those that sing it as it is not offensive

If they were to cross the thin line after that like we can see you holding dicks then yep offensive and wrong

Eh? They sing it because they want it to be offensive, that's the point. It is their intent to cause offence otherwise why sing it? And it's the impact of that intent on others that counts, even if those others are in the minority, irrespective of whether or not some don't find it offensive. Impact not intent!
