  • If you add Obike to Seabourne and Razak to Frimpong then you have two 30 + loanees
  • I have heard from a good source that the reason Gower didnt feature is that he didnt arrive soon enough last week, and that was a Swansea decision. They had been monitoring his fitness and were not prepared to release him until they were sure he was fit. By the time they released him CP had already picked his team for Saturday. CP had no choice in the matter, and indeed wanted him in time for the Posh game.
  • We made poor decisions and players failed to do their jobs for the goals, but the team showed no less passion than Millwall.
What concerns me is how we drained of confidence after the goal, how the substitutions rendered us less effective and who is going to score the goals to keep us up.
  • If you get chances you have to score em!!!

Okay, okay. Can't put it off any longer. Going to watch the #FootballLeagueShow. "I may be gone for some time......"
  • State of the pitch today I doubt it made sense to play "ball" players like Gower and Stephens

Surely he could've got a place on the bench though?
  • Spot on. Both are loanees with Easter a master substitution. Powell meanwhile waits for the second goal to make a double substitution. Once again to little too late. We're paying 14k a week for Fuller to warm the bench. Don't have a go at Fuller, 20 mins here or there is a waste of his time. The manager must answer for the dreadful home form to the Board when as season ticket sales tail off.
  • I posted this on another thread but it seems relevant here as well

The only thing it proves is that when people said we are skint at the beginning of the season that they were right

I personally think mark will be a good player for us biased yes I am unfortunately

Obika has been performing magnificently in a prem teams reserve squad and is a gamble but one worth doing however at the expense of BWP I am unsure , however BWP hadn't been setting the world alight where he has gone

You have giro money you shop at lidels it's a matter of finances and the need to refresh the squad

Hopefully now you will see that those saying what they said were not doom mom getting or scaremongering but merely stating what has come out and shown itself the chairman stating that 1mil a month is put in to the club from an unknown source is very concerning and has gone under the radar to a greater respect

With the few games left and us bedding points to come quickly let's not moan about what we ain't got but try to generate an extra insentive to the players

It's all we can do and the minimum we should staying away or groaning all game won't change that

For a Sth London derby I was as disappointed with the atmosphere as I was with the performance

Well I wondered that too, but apparently CP likes to have his squad sorted by Wednesdays and plan everything in detail, and Gower wasn't released until Thursday.

Jackett got Chaplow earlier in the week, if I recall right

  • How jackett and Powell chose to manage their squads is their business it didn't work in our favour
  • Jermaine Easter ffs - he's beyond ordinary
Johnny on the spot got lucky and all of a sudden Jacket's pulled off a master loan and a master sub?
    Hardly.
  • i've only got one thing to say and thats to the owners - get your hands in your pockets, stop exagerating how much money we are losing and invest i the team. If not, piss off!

Hamer back in for button,.green in for wilson and, stephens in for pritch or jacko!

Agree with this. Green and Stephens have their faults but they are at least talented and know how to pass and shoot.
It's a very simple thing to say and we may regret it after seeing them both in the team for a couple of matches, but if we have to lose at home I'd rather do it being entertained by (admittedly inconsistent) players that try to make things happen rather than a side set up (bar Harriot) to stop the other team from playing.

Could have still been on the bench
  • Still not home. God knows what would have happened if we'd bothered turning up.

Didn't think we deserved to lose that game. I thought it was a scrappy, close game without many chances. Shittu had a great game for them. I thought Harriot had a good game, think he could turn into a cracking player. Apart from that noone stood out as particularly good or bad for us. You could tell that we had the will to win it (esp in first half) but we didn't seem to have the composure or creativity in the final third.

I've been going regularly since 1968 & I've NEVER seen us beat Millwall. Today just extends that run.

    1972 for me and same

  • I thought we were the better team until they got there noses in front and the free kick was unstoppable.
Hamer is better than Button and should be playing. We only have one leader in JJ. Why was Haynes up against Shittu and not Kermorgant, Fuller is either not interested, not fit or both
Shittu was really up for it, had a great game and was the difference in my opinion
  • We lack quality in the middle we have nobody who can create also up front we lack firepower fuller another jimmy floyd waste of money to me , if the board aint prepared to part with money its for obvious reasons they aint got fuck all , so the other alternative is not loanees it should be youth ie callum harriott and im sure there are a couple more youngsters who have the hunger and desire and hopefully the talent and creativity that we need so why aint they being pulled into the 1st team .
  • Firstly I have to say this may be the biggest post match thread I have ever seen on this site, anyway didn't make the match (the first this season) but saw the "highlights" on tele and I have to say it was pretty woeful but when I heard the score I wasn't the least bit surprised. We don't have any quality in midfield, JJ is a good player but needs support and whilst I like Pritchard for his work rate and enthusiasm he is very lightweight when it comes to the physical stuff.

For me the main conundrum is the fact that we can win away at the drop of a hat it doesn't make any sense we probably shut up shop more and maybe the other teams look at our home form and underestimate us but none of this explains the way we play at The Valley. I know the pitch is lousy but both teams have to play on it and lets be fair Forest managed to play some Football on it.

Really the whole thing comes down to the squad and the the fact that CP really didn't have any funds to strengthen in the closed season and I do believe, without any evidence, that we have no money and are probably in quite some financial difficulties. So the season remain fidgity we are not safe and those teams below us are closing the gap again. Said it before I am not sure I can face League 1 again so soon it was dire last time and it will be dire again.

They are trying to "piss off" but no one else will put their hands in their pockets, except the Trust and their pockets are empty.

Depends what price they are demanding to piss off, though, doesnt it Kap?

  • True our squad is midtable championship at best but better use has to be made of it.
SCP sticks way too long with plan A, even when it's already come undone. And he sticks too long with underperforming players: Hamer, Button, Fuller, Stephens.
  • Solly
    Jackson
    Harriott

The rest were an absoloute disgrace.
  • I did think we were knocking at the door up to the point where Millwall scored so Chrissy had no reason to change anything. What I think he should look at is when it is a bit flat - like after the first goal - don't delay in making the subs - try to change the tide rather than wait for it to improve- it rarely does.
  • We lack a natural vociferous leader on the pitch. Someone that can pull the team up by its bootlaces, encourage and bollock as necessary. Jacko is a club captain type not a general on the pitch.
  • After two days reflection.
One thing is clear this league is tight and small margins make a big difference.

So if Harriots shot had gone in (great save by their keeper), if Yanns freekick had gone in (it was sooo close) and if Wilsons effort had gone in (again so close I thought it was going in) we would have been, rightly IMHO 3 up and cruising. We would all be on here today saying what a great game it was, yes we were in inconvenienced after tha game by the OB. but what a win, and we are safe in the Champ.
But they didnt and they scored two flukey goals.
It was all us in the first 55 mins.

Any talk of Powell going is bullshit!

If 'supporters' feel they have to pack it in, thats up to them, me? I paid for my 3 ST's two weeks ago, win, lose or relegation I'll be there next season.
Ive been coming to the Valley since 74, Ive seen much, much worse than this current slump. Believe me some of the football back then, makes the current team look like Barcelona.
My support for the current team and my manager have not dropped, no matter how despondent I get!
Yes I will be critical, as all fans should be, but they are still my team.

FWIW - I thought that JJ was excellent on Saturday (it will be interesting see him and Gower in midfield), also Solly had a good game, I think Wilson needs a rest. Harriot tried but didnt get the ball enough.
I think Taylor should have done better with the first goal and Button was wrong footed for the second.
For them Shittu was their best player and had Haynes in his pocket most of the game.

  • what greenie said
  • Second that although wouldn't say we're in a slump as such, just very inconsistent as are many of the teams in this division.

Hopefully that is where Mark Gower comes in.
