Powell is (currently) keeping a League 1 side up and has got them to perform above their ability to do so. The board can't give him any money to spend because there isn't any. This is the reality.
Losing to Millwall I hate and the players should raise their game, I agree. But the season is noone's fault. Our expectations and blinkered view of reality can be blamed though. Our home form is non-existent but Powell has done a good job in keeping a poor side competing away from home which may keep us up yet.
This thread has made me realise our fans really are as bad as so many other's in modern football, we lost Curbs due to them, they got a decent guy in Parky sacked when he deserved a chance with some backing & now they are trying to get a club legend doing a good job of keeping us up under very difficult situation sacked, football is losing it's soul because of fans like you.
Curbs left cos murray dropped a bollock.
Parkinson got sacked because of awful results, whilst clearly good enough to get him the gig in the first place under the old guard, werent gonna cut it with the new lot.
We have a lot of idiots follow our club but they are the minority and can't blame days like today or shocking home form on us fans.
Well i would say the moaning culture that had spread among our fanbase caused Curbs to want to leave.
Parky got sacked due to the poisoness atmosphere from the fans which forced the new owners to make a decision to win back over those same so called "fans".
Now those same fans are doing the same thing to Chrissy and it makes me despair of the modern football fan.
What moaning culture? A few idiots phoning up radio stations and posting on message boards that Curbs had taken us as far as he could?
I doubt Curbishley would pay any more attention to them than I would. He said he'd see his contract out and murray didnt want that IIRC?
Then after giving him a relative pittance to run the club on gave a war chest to the likes of Dowie and Pardew to spunk on dross that saw us go from being hailed as a "model club" to losing to northwich victoria and not having enough petty cash to pay the tea lady for new tetleys in a few short seasons.
He stayed at West ham under much more vocal abuse and we had very little, if any thing to do with him going.
In the first half did well but if either us or millwall had been behind at the break it would have been harsh. In the second we started well and when they scored maybe one or two heads went down a bit but it gave millwall lift and we hit by a double sucker punch in the end. After that we huffed and puffed but it was always an up hill struggle really.

Well that is your opinion just as i have mine, i would say yours is the sort of BS that fans say to defend themselves. ;-)

And i'd say yours is the sort of bollocks that people who don't like facing up to facts spout, so we'll agree to disagree ;-)
Let me say one thing about CP - when people quote how amazing he was last year.......So he bloody well should have been with the amount of money (in wages etc) that he was given to revamp the squad! Year 1 he was worse than Parky, Year 2 we all know what happened, but Parky was never given that kind of money. Powell was basically playing champ manager with the best players in league 1 and got the job done. And now this year we (imo) will be very lucky not to go down.
Please stop getting sentimental and at least look at things with logic. If he is the best man for the job, then great. But what he has done before as a player wont keep us up. Winning home games will.
You have the facts do you? The wage bill of all the league one teams last season?
so CP and the people that think u walk on water -------------------------fu=k it i wont be back until the last game of the season-------------------spineless shit dont deserve my money
Signing Fuller in his twilight years is a waste of time unless we have a manager who can manage and motivate. Sorry, but at the moment I don't think CP can. Fuller the new Hasslebank. Haynes the new Clarke.
The dumbest post of the year, Haynes has been brilliant bar today and fuller has scored some crucial goals also playing a big part in the Watford away win, comparing them to Clarke and JFH is stupid. Let me guess your a kermo lover? What did he do today part from pointless flick ons and flap his arms when he got bullied by there defence?
Sorry fella you have just posted the dumbest post of the year by using the word "brilliant" to describe Haynes, no player in the team has been "brilliant" this year, the team collectivly have not been "brilliant".
I see my "We're mid table during our first season since returning to the championship, What's the issue?" comment caused a bit of a backlash
If our away form was our home form, I don't think anyone would have a problem. Relax, we're not going down
If we were still 5 points from the drop with 8 games to go, I still wouldn't be delighted with our position. (At least until we were mathematically safe)
Nolly, appreciate the post of the season comment. Finished my chinese and motoring through yet another bottle of wine but still struggling with some of the posts on here. We're skint, can't buy anyone fine, our players are lower to mid table, agreed. However, the attitude on the pitch and the tactics from the bench are clearly not good enough. That is a management issue. The sooner some of you accept that, the easier it will be to cope with the very real prospect of relegation. Maybe its not Powell, he takes advice from Dyer, get rid of him. Something has got to change. Without some sort of change our club coyld be royally fxxked.
This would have been an ok season if we had won a cup game, a local derby and half a dozen home games. What the f*ck do we go for? To watch hoof ball and to "stay up" in the Championship? If that's all we aspire to what's the point?

It's no use saying we were the better of two poor sides. Clearly we weren't or we would have won. Week in week out at home we are second bes t.
What the players need to do now is offer to pay for the tickets and travel for say Barnsley. It's a game we will need to win and they need to show they understand that: 4 home wins out of 20, no cup runs while both our rivals (probably) will be playing at Wembley, and one point out of 4 derbies, just ain't acceptable. Even if they were all just L1 standard players (which the away performances have shown they clearly aren't) it wouldn't be acceptable. A meaningful apology is needed.
But did you see it? Honestly, at half time nobody was criticizing their effort or commitment. I think Wilson had a stinker and Haynes bottled it against Shittu, but otherwise, what would you have had CP do? Some say Stephens, but last time he played he was utter shite. Fuller clearly isn't interested, so no point starting him either. I doubt Gower would have been a game changer either. Not that kind of player. 34 years old, unlike Chaplow, and short of match fitness.
If Gower is short of match fitness why was he demmed good enough for Swansea to sit on their bench last week
Usual pathetic performance against that lot. Don't no why it surprises me, only Harriott and Jackson did anything over the whole of the 90 minutes that could be considered a good days work
Pointless going on about "lazy" Haynes or "disinterested" Fuller - they are the equal of most in this league. They get no decent service. A total lack of guile and invention is doing for us at home. Unfortunately the opportunities that did come our way today seemed to fall to others, who lacked composure or belief. Enjoyed our fans taking the piss out of theirs - didn't think their lot woke up until they scored. 51 years and I cannot actually remember if i've ever seen us beat them. I wasn't at the Morts in the snow game. So utterly predictable I can't get worked up about it anymore
"I'm mystified by it (not winning at home since 12 January). I'm baffled. I'm embarrassed for my players and for my supporters because we have tried everything with regards to performing at home. "Of course goals change games and we ended up chasing it. It was an outstanding goal by Shane Lowry and we ended up losing. "We created the better chances but you have to take the ones that come your way. It didn't happen through good defending, good goalkeeping or us not hitting the target. We have just got to soldier on."
Millwall manager Kenny Jackett:
"The first goal was always going to be crucial. It was a very tight game and conditions were tough. "We started the morning five points off the bottom of the league and we had to get going. "Hopefully the players can take confidence from what has been a very good week."
It's quite simple our central midfield hasn't been good enough since hollands and parker to play a cm two. This bunch are a touch better than pardew's champ choices. Play three in the middle, we'll lose a few at home still but be in with a chance for the last1/3 for most.
Have haynes and waggy move outside if we don't start well and push stephens or jackson behind kermo. Away from home start with wilson and bring haynes on for the final third. Unless we get a dynamic physical cm, it's going to be the same next season.
Just seen the goals. The first one should be a bread and butter stop. The second he has got to be saving if he want's to displace Hamer has our number 1.
Not a fan of blaming people post match, but both of them were very saveable. Still, we should never have been that crap after they went in.

I agree first could have been dealt with better but I think the second was an unstoppable shot.

You need to start watching the Football League Show a bit more if you think any of our strikers let alone Haynes and Fuller are equal to the likes of Wood, Murray, Nugent, Austin, Vydra Etc.
Totally fucking unacceptable!!! So fucking angry, 1 point from Palace and Millwall is not on!!!!
I agree with you that 1 point out of our 4 games against Palarse and Millwall is very frrustrating and I'm just as disapointed with the points return from those 4 fixtures as everyone else. But if it was between getting a good points return from those fixtures while going down or getting a poor points return from those fixtures while staying up, which would you prefer?
I never thought I'd say this about Millwall, but I was sitting there whilst we were losing and not any more bothered it was them we were losing to.
So despondent I am at our home form that I don't really care anymore. Most players are putting in a days work but even they are hardly battling as hard as they should be in our situation.
If relegation greets us, then from what I see at The Valley we fully deserve it.
I would be best to save my £440 season ticket money (had one since 84) and instead have half a dozen days out, having a laugh & going to away matches.
Really shocking, but today was just the icing on cake full of shit.

Oh, and Hamer is our number 1 all day.
Let's see them then.

That's probably up there with one of the most daft comments made on this forum.
Not sure why some people still feel safe about not going down while all other teams below usare picking up points, BOTH HOME and AWAY. Bizzare
They defended well, we didn't.
