Bossed for an hour, as soon as they scored there was only one result.
I don't think the players really give a sh!t, they were beaten by a workman like millwall team just as they were back in September by palace. Effort goes a long way in this division and I think we lack it
Les Berrys Tash Member 6:31PM Struggle to understand what people see watching Charlton. Yes the standard of players is generally poor, but no different to many other teams. The lack of backbone is the problem, Millwall players cared, ours in the main did not appear to give shit. That is a management issue, combine that with being treated as second class citizens at our own ground is a sad indictment of where we are as a club at the moment Quote
Just when I thought this day couldn't get any f222ing worse, I watch the rugby hoping to see England pick up the Grand Slam!!!
No point in slitting my wrists like many others. All I will say is that those who said Jackson was pants today are bonkers. Our MOTM by a mile. Worked hard, threw himself into tackles, tried to play a bit of football by passing the ball out of the mud. Give the guy a break and be fair.
What was absolutely pants today was the atmosphere. Hardly got going at all. And downright embarrassing at the end.
The irony is that the players everyone says are rubbish are getting the results away you need to be more tactically aware as a manager at home. We have a good header of the ball in Kerms but we never get crosses iinto the box from wide, because it's lumped up to him to scrap for, Haynes has pace but we never play a pass in behind the defence because it's hoofed up field. Who sets the tactics?

Disagree with the first part Les now that ive calmed down a bit. I thought our players looked more up for it and were putting in challenges and winning all the 50 50s. Chaplow suddenly started getting stuck in for them but i couldnt fault our comitment in the first half.
Should have had a penalty when kermogant was thrown across the six yard box (he is not the hard man warrior we have kidded ourselves sadly). Then they against the run of play scored and it shocked us. Second was a wonderstrike and it was all over by then and we lost our bottle.
Completely agree with the second part about the post match comedy.....sick of this nicey nice "let's be liked by everyone and not cause a fuss and bend over for other clubs' well being even if it is a pain in the arse for our own" mindset we seem to have.
Fuck every other club and their fans. Look after your own first as a priority and if they dont like it tough. We keep the club going and they would do well to remember that.
Because if he was a clueless and inept as you Say how have we won more away
Theres something wrong at home and i cant work out what it is but to say its clueless tactically inept mgmt is bollox
This team bar fuller and wilson is league 1 and without the money to improve it we were in for a real tough time and so it is proving when we stay up its time to back or sack and if we sack then we will end up back in league 1
The anti powell bullshit is comical the bigger picture is without investment in the squad we will face this situation constabtly
Exactly. Clueless managers don't beat Leicester, Watford and many others away with a team of players that just came up from league one.

I thought he looked like a player who got out done by a unit on eveything he tried and it affected him
He didnt get close enough to kermy in the first half
But what did kermy do what did pritch do what did waggs do or fuller or wilson
Haynes was no worse than any if them
Lazy & brainless performance by Haynes showed why he is not good enough at this level. If I was one of his team mates I'd have been totally pissed off at his shit attitude. If I was Powell I would have taken him off sooner.
One bad game and suddenly Haynes is not good enough at this level? Did you miss the 3/4 games where he terrified the opposition and was the main reason we picked up points in those games?
I have seen all home games & many away I have only seen one game where he did that & then he went off injured. He is always offside & bottles it against anybody hard.
I really do think he has talent but sadly not a brain or any bottle. love to be proved wrong but would be surprised if Powell does not run out of patience with him, I could see him (Powell) getting more & more wound up with Haynes performance as the game went on.

Les - I just don't get this Millwall cared, ours in the main didn't stuff. Who didn't care - Haynes maybe, Fuller definitely (surely by now the powers that be must realise that buying old guys who are looking for one final pay day is a waste of time) but who else? I saw a team that was trying but who just weren't good enough. That's completely different to saying they weren't trying.
Haynes wasn't good, but Fuller was worse and once Haynes went off we looked completely unthreatening, with no pace to stretch their defence. Maybe Obika would have been a better option, or is the latest in a long line of loanees who never play for us?
Lots of extreme views on here today. Understandable given the disappointment. The facts as I see them:
1. We were certainly marginally the better team in the first half, but both teams were poor. 2, We came very close on three occasions before Millwall went ahead - Harriott's shot brought a world class save from Forde; Kermo's free kick was no more than a couple of inches from being a great goal; Wilson should have scored a the far post but didn't get enough on it. 3. Millwall did not create as good chances or threaten to score, other than the two they got. 4, Button should have saved both goals. The first was very close to him and had little power. The second was hit well but was in the air a long time and not tightly in the corner. It confirms for me that Hamer is our number one keeper. 5. Our heads went down when they scored, and that is the one unforgivable thing about today. 6. Jackson and Pritchard did well in getting their challenges in and in effort, but both lacked quality in passing. 7. WIlson, Haynes and Fuller were indeed dire the whole time they were on the pitch and deserve all the brickbats being aimed at them. 8. Calling this team just L1 standard doesn't ring true - just look at our away form. We can be and are competitive in this league and we show that when we play away. The home form is now plain embarrassing and will, in my opinion, put a sizeable dent in the season ticket sales. Would we really pay to watch such shite at virtually every home game if we weren't so attached to our club?
The biggest issue for me is the abysmal quality of our football, at least at home. I am sick and tired of the hoof-ball when kermo is playing (not his fault, he is a legend) but we look to be devoid of producing a passing game, flowing attacks and sustained pressure. I really think the excuse that this is a L1 side and CP can't do better without investment is crap. They can do it away and we certainly played much better quality football for much of last season so we know they are capable. Up against better quality opposition this season, yes but not THAT much better.
I admire CP greatly as a man and want him to stay - but we can't go on playing this badly at home for ever. He needs to sort it out, somehow.
I have been saying on the "play-offs" thread that I would not feel safe until we reach 55 points and that is looking more and more justified when you look at the results teams near the bottom are picking up. I still think we will get there -thanks to our away form, but I'm now longing for the season to be over, for us to survive and for new money to fund a re-build of the team for next season. I really couldn't stand another season at home like this one.
If 'trying' won games then Pritchard would be a match-winner. Our team just doesn't have enough ability to break down teams at home. We're able to counter effectively, but can't find defence splitting passes more than once or twice a game.
Jackson only player who was reading the game Fuller might ad well sat down and read the paper Utter waste of space Just can't see where the next goals coming from Feel I've been mugged right off today on and off the pitch Also can't understand all this kiss powells arse at moment with our current form?

We're mid table during our first season since returning to the championship
What's the issue?
The fact that it was Millwall is what everyone is getting a bit pissed about, players who play for the club should automatically raise their game in such fixtures, but it never happened today. That is the issue
The issue is we are utterly inept at home and we are being asked to fork out for dearer season tickets at a time when there is absolutely no sign whatsoever that things are going to be anything other than a whole lot worse next season.
Don't understand why Fuller gets no criticism on here. He's awful, doesn't care and is so unfit it's a joke.
Have a look at the players marks thread for udders which updates every game and you'll see his marks have been 5.something for the last four games and he will be lucky to reach that today. Has shown flashes of what he can do with a couple of wonder goals and was a real threat at Sellout but the style of play doesn't suit him and he looks as if he has had enough.

Possibly the fact that we are absolutely f*****g useless at the Valley, just possibly.
