OK, Off_it , maybe not in those words but I still perceive there are Lifers who are scorning the rumours heard around The Valley yesterday ...and yes, thankfully they are just rumours at the moment.
Just take a look at the poster who criticised the lad for saying what his Dad had heard ...
A pertinent, seasonal quotation to finish on : There's no smoke without fire.
Bit of gossip - a friend of mine works for a posh private school Arround Yeovil/deavon , and him and some students talk about football regularly - recently a Greek lad has said his dad is very interested in investing alot of money in charlton athletic ( considering my mates a yeovil fan , this can right out of the blue )
Probably crap but thought it should be told
I can see it now...kit changed to sky blue and white, kebabs and ouzo in the catering outlets, fat women with lustrous moustaches selling the jackpot tickets, TJ smashing a plate over CP's head, the back 4 linking arms and doing a Zorba dance across the 18 yard line, "Blowing Bubbles" banned when West Ham come a visiting...... :-)
Money from (almost) anywhere would be nice but I'll believe it when it happens.

maybe if we had been given proper money to get a decent squad we would not be where we are, powell has a team of players who mainly are league one
Maybe we have, but the powers that be don't want Powell spending it.
If it's true about Jimenez not rating Powell, even after all the good things he has done in his short time with us,then it is a baffling and in my opinion unworkable situation. Something has to give.

Spot in mate if the 5 players that were wanted we're signed we would not be in this postition however although TJ pulled the deal I don't blame him as it was not his dough that was going to fund it
However we are where we are and SCP needs to work with what he has he also needs to do more as his subs and his tinkering needs to be tailored more to the championship
Having read Airmans thoughts on this, it wouldn't surprise me if the powers that be are waiting for the crowd to turn before pressing the button and installing their man. If funds then magically become available it will rather prove the point.
We are 4th from bottom so in my book Powell is doing a good job. We will lose more games than we will win this season. If Powell gets sacked its because the owners don't know their football and have unrealistic expectations.
If Powell did get the sack the only replacement I'd be happy with is Paolo Di Canio.

I can't see the crowd turning on Powell. If things don't improve I can see them turning on the board. I know this forum is not completely representative of the whole fan base, but there is pretty much full support for Chris, and I can't see anyone really believing that we would be better off with a new manager. What we need is better players, and that requires the board (or their friends) to make money available.
We'd all like there to be more money and probably Tony Jiminez would like it even more than we would. I'm certain he would sell if someone came in with the right offer but obviously no one has. In the meantime we'll have to get by with what we've got. The problem is not Chris Powell, it's that we haven't got enough good players at this level and perhaps that he has been too loyal to them. The hope is that we can get rid of some of them and find better without a great deal of cash to offer. Tough times, but the one thing that's sure is that we must all stick behind the manager. No booing, no calling for his head, and fewer rumours fanning the flame.
Norfolk I agree with all you say but I can't face the thought of anyone but SCP right now
He should be allowed to learn with us and that means mistakes and all
The whole club should make mistakes together and learn from them
As fans many mistakes have been made from booing players and scape goating others to wanting more from curbs and in somes mind getting rid of parkinson
The mgr and board are not alone in errors yet they are the ones who et the most dogs abuse
Paolo would be a rollercoaster I reckon, but after a couple of years of it would we be disjointed and broke, and broken?
If you have a decent enough five year old Mondeo, takes a bit of maintenance but it's ok, you spot a flashy three year old Mercedes, so you sell the Mondeo, shell out a bit in your excitement, then you find you have a car, classy in some ways, but costs loads to keep running, and if anything goes wrong it costs a fortune. Before long the engine starts messing up, you have it parked up for ages, and hope to off load it cheap cos you can't keep it on the road. You end up worse than you were.

I knew that this kind of thread would exist, in fact i knew it when the third goal went in for boro.
Injuries and a lack of money spent on new players for a higher level league is making this tough work for us.
Last season we had a first eleven, which in their natural positions and a bit of luck made us league winners.
This season they are injured or out of position when they do play, and are playing a step up. And not an easy step up. Playing teams who have just come down into this league from the prem in the last few seasons. Big teams. Also playing teams that have been in this league for a while and have slowly built themselves up to challenge for playoff places. Of course we are going to struggle.
I hope these rumours of powell being given 2,3,4 games to get results are not true. There is not another manager who could step in that would be able to do any better with these players.
The board as far as we know had little money during the summer so were unable to give powell any to strengthen this team who we all knew were going to find it hard even with them all fit. Most games this season we have competed, even with these problems. All I can do is hope powell turns it around but I would not judge him if we don’t win our next couple of games. I think some on here need to lower their expectations. I think the board near too as well. Oh and chuck in some youth players. You never know we might have a gem in there chrisy.
not many of us expected anything higher than mid-table this season.
At present we are 6 points off mid table, we have three games against top sides which completes on Tuesday. We then have four games, which bearing in mind our away form, are all winnable.
On the injury front Taylor, Haynes and Stephens are back to fitness and Fuller should be back soon. Depending on Wilson's injury we might have a major defensive problem but there are loans available and we do have the back up the younger players.
CP is our manager and we must keep backing him and whichever players are on the pitch with our vocal support.

Got to agree with this thoughtful and sober post. Wouldn't want to knock the confidence of a youngster by throwing them in a struggling team, but I do agree that perhaps one at least could get more into the frame. If we had a young player that was a bit of a specialist, as in dribbling and crosses, or blinding pace, or being a battering ram forward, then they may be brought in to do that specialism, and not brought in to be responsible for results, then it may be a good thing. If the players, and Powell and his team, were to focus on supporting the promotion of a youngster, then if might freshen up their spirits a bit, take their mind off the negatives, put a bit of fun into their work.
What happens with throwing in a youngster when you are struggling, is that they will make wrong choices and get pilloried by gormless sections of the crowd and ruin their confidence and stunt their progress. Unless they are a wunderkind you blood them sensibly - now is not the time

Callum Harriot has that pace. He creates and scores goals.
We can either stick with Powelly who we all love, id hope and im confident he will steer us away from the relegation zone(which we are not in) over the course of 46 games or we can sack him and have every pundit sticking the boot in like they did when Curbs left whilst we hire some never been like Jewell to take us down and prepare for trips to Hartlepool again.

I agree with bringing them in sensibly and slowly but i don’t think it would hurt to have a young player such as Harriot who does look good come on from the bench to get a bit of game time. I would rather give him a go than bringing in a loan player.
I do want CP to succeed, but when you're playing square pegs in round holes you're setting yourself up for a fall, even with the injury situation he has to put up with.
I'll stand behind him, but I won't put up with this lot rolling over at Millwall trust me.
I don't think it's fair to criticise the owners for not being able to invest significantly more in the team of itself. A more valid criticism would be that they did not give the manager proper guidance as to what funds would be available, which in turn meant he couldn't plan. For example, it may have made more sense to sell certain players and buy others. Similar questions can be asked of what happened on deadline day.

He brought each of them in and got their confidence back and in return they will do anything for him.
If he goes then I hate to think where we would end up at the end of the season.
I was happy with mid lower position in the league at the start of the season, now I'd be happy with 4th bottom.
We have had injuries to first teamers we never had last season and are in a standard of league where financial muscle shows its worth.
A test of character for everyone at the club, fans included.
