The money run out?.well powell has signed over 23 players since he became manager. He can't make the right choices.Murray should not have sold our club to people with no money.curbs glory years .
You are deliberately misusing a stat there. Most of those signings were when we needed a brand new squad to get out of League 1.
Exactly Uboat. How many has he been able to bring in this season? And with what money?
Not sure what the last two posts are all about. Valley27000...seriously, what are you on? Can't make the right choices? Which team strolled League1??
Murray had no choice. His money was done. The only option at the time was Sullivan/Gold and we were hoping against hope that they wouldn't get the Hamsters as we were their 2nd choice.
All this makes me smile....we have lost 4 of our better players. Fuller, Yann, Wiggins and Evina....CP has had to play people out of position and when he tries to keep the Solly/Wilson partnership together (which many of us wanted) Wilson gets injured....so that's potentially 5 out.....Haynes has just come back and is made of glass......Taylor's not match fit.....Green is more out than in when he plays......so taking all this into account coupled with people saying we have no money.....who is going to take over, and more importantly what choices are there that would be better, Jewell? Shearer?? Redknapp??? (no money)....I'm at a loss to think of anyone who is currently not managing (other than Curbs and he won't come back) who would be able to work with the bare bones squad we now have.....I agree CP has made mistakes.....but get a couple/all of our first choice players back and who knows what we might happen.....sure we wont get promotion....but we are 14 games in with 32 left to go.......lets just be realistic is all I ask. If we had loads of money then it would be different and would have been in the summer as we could have signed a few players, but jeesh.....we haven't and CP has to work with what he's got....and currently that's getting less and less by the week!!!

CP still learning (mistakes today) but I'd rather we went down than replace him. Only criticism is not using kids. Never seen him play, but rather Fox than Kerkar at LB. Not for today but tomorrow.
Very little of our poor situation is CPs fault. Yes, he makes some strange choices tactically sometime but these aren't the players he planned on having (at least not all of them). If the board couldnt sort out the finances required then that isn't powells doing. I wouldn't be surprised if he's highly sought after and if anything, I think we should maybe worry more about him leaving us for something better. Sacking him would be rediculous. Unless of course his remit was to build a side that wouldn't need any investment at all to finish mid championship and he assured them he could do it/had done it last year. Who knows (not me) if this might have been the case.
LargeAddick Member 5:27PM heard a rumour the Board are chasing Shearer Quote
hope they don't catch him!
Would not be hard to catch him --sits on the sofa at the BBC talking crap and knows naff all about footy ....imagine him and his Number 2 Dowie
I don't particularly like the guy, nor do I want him at our club but clearly he knows more about football than anyone on here. That being said I wouldn't want him as manager.
Are we the only club with injuries in the league or something? It's all well and good to say 'wait and see' but it could be too late by then.
Is that CP's fault? Not in my eyes although some baffling line-ups and tactics does not help.
@WSS....Of course other teams have injuries but we were starting with a smallish and inexperienced squad, then we lose at least 3 of our top players, although I think Evina is also quality and had begun playing well, and now Wilson who everyone (in the main) has said is a top player (for our team) over recent weeks.......I'm as baffled as you that people want CP gone, and as I said in my original post he has made mistakes.....but until someone tells me we have hit the jackpot and got loads of dosh, or offers me a manager currently unemployed who could do better with what we have availability wise, then what other option have we got other than 'wait and see'......I hope he turns it round on Tuesday and he gets some luck as well......we were so close to winning at Leeds and Wolves, we got sucker-punched against Palarse and the last kick of the game against Birmingham robbed us of 3 points as well....I honestly believe we have the right manager ( for our budget), I just hope he is given the chance with a fully fit squad.....but then as others have said above it appears he is on borrowed time and that's a shame if true.
One thing I'm certain of, if Powell goes we're relegated, if he stays we have a chance. Consider this, a new manager would need a new team, because the impact on our players, our fans, and the wider incredulous football aware public if we lost Chris Powell would be an utter disaster for Charlton Athletic.
I am still over the moon that we are in this leaque and that feeling for which i am grateful to our board and manager has not yet worn off. All the moaners should go to more away games if you want to feel positive at the end of games. We have injuries to our best players, this is no fault of the manager remember, too much expectation by home fans again is not helping us at the moment. Try stay more positive and results will follow. Fed up with knee jerk reactions.

Kerkar at right back was strange.
Shearer ...for the love of Christ.

Higher quality teams are...WHAT???? jeezus, come back when you're sober!!
I am sober we just not good enough.

Maybe not,but the very mention of his name being associated with us smacks of something deeply unpleasant.
