Interesting that AFC have the nigels at number 2.
  • both of these pony teams deserve to be relegated to non-league if you ask me ...

These are grey clubs with no history and no class.
Hope you're not refering to the club that pioneered professional football in the south, football in the community, woman's football and the only club to have been unbeaten at home for a whole season in 4 different divisions, the most successful FA Cup side never to have won it or the only south London club to have played in a proper European fixture and the official record holders of most ticket sales for a game at both the old and new Wembley's?

The only South London Side to have played a proper European fixture my arse! We beat you in the Anglo Italian Cup!...beat you in Europe mate!

    Neither would I, I don't think we have a number 3.
  • The survey is toot
    it says on there

Arsenal old rivals are man u new rivals spurs

As soonas I got to that bit I stopped paying attention

  • I don't think Gillingham had us as a rival on the last one of those surveys

Bloke I know was telling me that the Gills main rivals are Swindon (3rd in the survey though).

This! This list is more "fantasy" football rivals and cannot be based on any authoritative study.

To get Man U instead of Spurs as Arsenal's main rivals they have either made it it up or asked the wrong question.

You'd be surprised. Over the course of the last 15 years where it's been United & Arsenal fighting it out at the top, many Arsenal fans 'hatred' of United grew immensely, and since Spurs weren't a viable opposition and they regularly beat them many saw United as their main football rivals. Things have changed a bit over the past few seasons on the pitch though.

  • I thought Spurs hated Chelsea more than Le Ass.
  • In truth, ask your mates who support Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool/Man United/Tottenham who they hate and they'll probably just say all of them.
  • It's probably a bit of reverse psychology from Arsenal fans to try and wind up Spurs - a bit like palace fans who make out we are insignificant to them yet you know there is nobody they would sooner beat.
  • Millwall to me is banter, got lots of Millwall mates, although happy when they lose or we beat them (rare as rocking horse s*** I know).

Palace, nothing but loathing and spite for them, on every level, mug club, owned by two large mugs in my lifetime, muggy coward mob who KNEW there would be no Charlton like minded on that train, despise them intensely.
  • It's probably a bit of reverse psychology from Arsenal fans to try and wind up Spurs - a bit like palace fans who make out we are insignificant to them yet you know there is nobody they would sooner beat.

You are Palace's 3rd rival though so you are insignificant compared to Brighton & us in their eyes.

Not necessarily. The likes of Villa, Birmingham, Wolves and West Brom are all rivals. Do you think they consider their 3rd rival in that group as 'insignificant'?

If Palace beat us, they will be absolutely over the moon and will be trying to rub our faces in it much more so than if it was any other game and I daresay, even more so than if they beat Millwall.

They know full well how much we despise them.
  • I would just like to add that I loath West Ham. Now that's a team I would love to see go bankrupt.

There are various reasons why they rank us so low, mainly to annoy us! How legit is their rivalry with Brighton? I didn't know it existed until 10 years ago! There were a few palace fans in my school and it never came up once and this was when Brighton nearly went out of business. Surely if your rival was close to going out of business you would have an opinion on it? They're two clubs who nearby clubs don't care for and it's a rivalry of convenience, it give them some sort of purpose.

  • It's a generation thing and as I'm not local (although lived in Rotherhithe and in the old Kent road) my rival has always been palace because my first real memories of football were the trek to selhurst an we hardly ever played Millwall till the mid 90's

I know it's more towards noades but that club could have put us out of business, never forget

In terms of the off the pitch other stuff I've always found palace quite a nice day out in that you get to London bridge and the pubs are packed with charlton, you get the 2.30 to Norwood junction and basically take the piss, we usually take far far better numbers there and out sing them for 90 mins win lose or draw

Millwall is totally different in that the pubs are shut and a soon as you get to London bridge you are treated like an extra in football factory, walk down the alley, beer in the ground if you're lucky and then an hour outside the ground for our "safety"

It's just not a nice experience and I expect us to sell out at sell out and barely fill the top tier at the toolbox this season

I bet palace say exactly the same and will sell 3500 at our place in a heartbeat and 1500 to the toolbox if they're lucky
  • Will be extremely surprised if we don't sell out our allocation for Millwall.

Infact, I'm 99.9% sure we will.

Just why is it that so many Millwall always come in the home end? To be fair at the last Valley game it was great seeing them led out particularly the smug duo in the NW quadrant who were giving it loads at 2-0.

I was sitting behind them. Was hilarious one was giving it the large and his speky mate looked like he was gonna shit himself.

i Don't know how true it is but number of them have applied for and got red cards.
  • The thing I don't get is just because they say they are milk wall it doesn't give them super powers

Yet no one fronts them up and shows them why you shouldn't take the piss in any teams home end

sold out a couple of years back and I'm sure we will again

Because we sell out your away end and you don't sell out your home end, so tickets available for those who want to go. Just like how some Charlton were in the home end for Millwall. Sort of what you expect for local games.

Why don't you front them up if it means so much to you?
  • Not so sure this time stonemuse especially if it's a nothing game (other than bragging rights) the game a couple of years ago would have been a new ground for the younguns and we all remember the moaning on here afterwards with loads saying they would never go again

Plus we have only ever taken more than 2k twice to millwall in my memory
