Can't ever hate Millwall as much as Palace. My hatred for Palace knows no bounds. Just the sight of an Eagle or the sound of the Dave Clare Five brings me out in a rash. I have always felt that Millwall accept their inferiority to us but Palace never do.

Agreed. I know a lot of Millwall fans who are decent people and a number of them also have a bit of a soft spot for Charlton as they know that we are a decent club.
However, the sight of a red and blue kit (who's idea was that?) is enough to make me furious.
Where did the term wall come from when taking about millsmall
It's as if you glorify and want to be part of them
I've always just known them as "the scum".
Don't get the intense hatred for Palace. It's like hating Hare Krishna's. They're annoying and you wouldn't dream of being one, but they are a bit too weird to 'hate'.
To me, Millwall represent most of what is wrong with society and are an embarrassment to South London.
Obviously I'm generalising here and there are a couple of exclusions.
As a clubs they do both have one bonus, they act as a fan filter for us, the more "passionate" stuck in the 70s fans can go to Millwall & the proper weirdo's can go to Palace, leaves us with much less of each, which im very happy about.

In times gone by Millwall and Charlton used to share their fans with supporters spending one saturday at the valley and the other at the Den, in a way Millwall are the black sheep of the family but are family nevertheless. Palace, I'll never forgive for the Selhurst years, initially aiming to close us down and then just fleecing us and thier fans treating us like shit. But for me I would like them both in the same division as us and us to tonk them on a regular basis, although that does rarely happen.
I will always hate the Nigels and there ground and there shirt colours but would rather play Palarse and Millwall each year. Its great when we beat them although our record against Millwall is terrible.I just hope that if we do slip up against Millwall we dont leave there ground in large numbers like we did when we last played them

What the large numbers that were held in while millwall fucked off?
I posted the following on another thread last month. Various people agreed with me. One called me a 'tree hugger'. Apt, as I like trees. Quite simply, the support base of any UK-based football team mirrors that of society, i.e. some decent people and some who see fit only to castigate and snarl and sneer. To think of everyone who supports another team as inherently inferior smacks of ignorance. Anyway, here's what I posted:
"Just a little thought about football rivalry, folks. I see and hear the words 'Despise', 'Scum' and 'Hate' mentioned in relation to supporters of our neighbouring clubs. Can we not accept that we, for whatever reason, support Charlton Athletic, and, meanwhile, others choose - for whatever reason - to support Crystal Palace, Millwall, or whoever? I'm all for friendly banter, ribbing, bragging rights, etc, but is there not enough strife in the world already? Remember, please, that it was not the Palace fans that had us move to Selhurst Park. It was a financial decision, decided upon by the management of the time. Football fans have a common enemy - the commercial greed that pervades the modern game and has driven many clubs to the wall. I humbly suggest that we leave hatred out of it, and let the football do the talking".

Isnt there a cricket thread you could have posted that on?
Spanners - not too bothered as long as we finish above them (the cheeky scamps). Nigels - despise them with every bone in my body - I remember the Selhurst years!

No worries. I wasn't offended : ) I reserve my distaste for financial speculators, the Con/Dem Eton Mafia and animal abusers. Football? It's the people's game.
Back when I was a lad there where many supporters who shared their time between alternate Charlton and Milwall home games, but I would bet every man jack of them hated those jumped up wanna be's from Smellhurst along with their cigar smoking Fedora wearing manager.

I hate both clubs with equal intensity but for different reasons. It may be an irrational hatred but supporting a football club avidly is pretty irrational.

There fans are so retarded that they have to use cartoons to explain things.....

Wrong, so very wrong.
My first match: Charlton 3, Hull City 2, Jan 1981, if I recall correctly. I'm a Season ticket holder.
