I went Millwall vs. Cardiff the season before last, nowhere near kind of atmosphere for the game we had there in League 1. But then again, I do think Cardiff were winning for the majority of that one so that probably shut the mouthy pikeys up in the Dockers Stand.
I don't want Millwall to better us over a season and I certainly don't want to lose to them during one. I was a schoolboy at the Valley in the late 1960's when their fans invaded the Covered End and it was not pleasant but despite a number of gripes I dont 'hate' Millwall. I think that they are desperately scratching around at the moment trying to secure a new identity in order to attract a new fan demographic. At the moment their fan base includes a large proportion of South London scallywags that wouldn't have any street cred if they supported 'softer' outfits. Most of these 'fans' never attend games apart from the glory days at Wembley or wherever. The fact that the Millwall attendances peak for visits from West Ham, Chelsea, Leeds, Cardiff, Birmingham City is due to the fact that a few of the retards who never normally attend decide to show up for these contests where a punch up is more likely because most of those opponents mentioned also have a fair proportion of tosspot fighting 'fans'. It also annoys me how Millwall (club and supporters) always trot out the old 'family club' virtues whilst others in their number celebrate the old fashioned and genuine football experience that one can experience at the Old/New Den (i.e. plenty of expletives and some real football atmosphere!) Its the same sort of double-talk that you'd expect from a club that continues to thrive on a mission statement of 'No one likes us - we don't care' whilst kissing babies in front of the cameras. The simple truth is that Millwall as a brand (forgive me but I don't work in marketing) continues to struggle with the dilemma of balancing the traditional core support (the majority of SE London's ne're-do-wells) who cannot afford to purchase season tickets and attracting the prawn sandwich brigade (at least Bunny and that obnoxious smug git who works for one of the local rags have been recruited - hold on - have you ever seen them in the same room together?) This may sound vindictive but honestly it isn't. Like many Lifers have already stated I have numerous mates who regularly attend Millwall and they are decent people who love football. Its normally the Wall boys who seldom go to the ground that are the problem. I regard Millwall as local rivals and wish them no harm but I want us to beat them everytime we play.In a nutshell and as DA1 said Millwall are our naughty little brother and I don't 'hate' them. As for Palace many of the fans are knobs but that is also true of both CAFC and Millwall and most other clubs. My hatred for CPFC stems, like many others, from their time as our Landlords. I won't cite examples (I've typed too much already) but they treated us like shite. I would do cartwheels (after some lengthy practice sessions) if they (CPFC) went into receivership and in all honesty there is no other club in this land, or in the rest of the world, that falls into this category as far as I am concerned.
The amount of sewer rats who slip into our end from the scum and can't keep quiet when they inevitably score and have to, as is standard practise supporting them , give it the big un is a joke..... You ask the people in charge at the Valley which fixture brings the most agg and it won't be the palace game
I made the trek to selhurst on the train to Lee then the 75 bus and hated it as much as anyone and as a normal punter who just likes a beer and banter never had any agg with palace but when the scum were in town even at selhurst there was always a load of them in our end looking for it and I never saw anything like that when we played palace
I'm surprised by how many waste the hate on palace , the owners of palace when we were there are long gone and that hatred is reserved for ron noades and his workforce
In the footballing helmet/per fan ratio I think us and palace will have similar numbers and will be top half of the third tier in those stakes but the scum are champions league champion of champions
Isn't it "We fear no foe" on the back of the shirts? Pathetic
"My Dad's Bigger than your Dad"
We Fear No Foe Where E'er We go
A motto on one of our badges from decades ago I believe. Sorry that our shirts carry some history. Seems like it bothers you somewhat. Calm down & keep bob, bob bobbing along little robin.

Was that where the Cardiff fan dived from the top tier? The games with them are relatively tame nowadays sadly. A decade ago or so they were very lively and the atmosphere would crackle, but they are few and far inbetween nowadays.

Been up & down the country & even into Europe with Millwall and many of the fans who'll hold their hands up go regularly. It's a myth to say people don't support football & just come along for a fight. It applies to a very small minority. For the vast majority their support of a club came first, getting into trouble came years after when you start going with friends etc.
The reason why games against west ham, leeds, cardiff, birmingham etc attract a rise in attendance is firstly they bring more away fans, which generates a better atmosphere, the games are normally more important (as in they are regarded as 'bigger' teams so a more exciting game to see us win rather than Watford, Barnsley etc) and yes there is more edge to them. But surely this applies to every football club in the country.
If you can only afford one game to go this season (exclude Millwall & Palace), which one would you choose; one of Leeds, Birmingham, Leicester, Bolton etc
and i would presume that it means more to your fans cos more turn up for the Charlton fixture than the west ham , leeds or whatever
just like they do for the big games at wembley
You know you don't mean as much to us as west ham. The Charlton game is a big south London derby, do you expect less people to go or something? Not surprised at all that the home end sold out, loads of Millwall & Charlton are mates, bragging rights in the pub are at stake and it was an important game at an important stage of the season and it's always a guaranteed 3 points.......(think this season is going to be very tight though)
why wouldn't more turn up for the West Ham fixture , restrictions ?
it will be tight but sadly you will finish above us imo
It's been mentioned on here plenty of times; restrictions on tickets, kick off times, (although the last one was 3pm I think), potential for trouble so plenty stay away, no away fans in the home ends, not the same local rivalry as we have with you/palace, so you don't get groups of friends who rarely go deciding to make a day of it etc.

I quite liked what @Anna_Kissed wrote, can't see why its embarrassing, just a different perspective, something that makes CL a rich environment for discussion.

Yep it was, there were paramedics attending to him for about half an hour if I remember correctly. People were chanting "let him die" too which I thought was a classy touch.
I fancy us to win our home against them, that Dunne testimonial was a decent test at (New London Stadium) and they couldn't handle Jackson or BWP. Put Kermit in mix with Fuller, we've got a chance.
Del Trotter in midfield and Keogh are their main two threats, keep them quiet and they're not much cop.

Win 1 lose 1 vrs Millwall this season i reckon.
I think that could be the case, win 1, lose 1, all depends on how the next few months go though, quite a while yet for both teams to settle down & play the way they can - I'll wait until mid-November to properly gauge what the chances of a win are.
We've got Blackburn & Wolves away in the 7 days preceding our game, so a tough week.
As usual these kind of threads tend to descend into "who's got the biggest willy".
I hate Palarse, I have never hated Millwall. We would all be poorer for there being no rivals, no wind ups, no local bragging rights, no edginess before during and after Spanners games.
The phrase "No1 in South London" would not mean very much if we were permanently "the only one in South London".
My brother in law is a dyed in the wool Nigel and my best mate is a Spanner.
I posted "No1 in South London" on my facebook status after the Leicester game and my best mate posted "bollox". Rivalry is great!

I didn't intend it as 'one of those threads' I have no hate directed at millwall whatsoever. I may not have been clear enough. Although to be fair it was probably inevitable.
Used to dislike millwall when younger but that was mainly coz we always lost to them. Had and have plenty of millwall mates and enjoy the banter. Only really know one palace fan and he's a good bloke actually but i'd much sooner beat millwall than palace as palace really are from a different part of London whereas Millwall is a proper local derby. I know they like to think the west ham rivalry gives them more 'cred' but lets face it, anyone over the age of about 20 who revels in football violence or being hard is a bit of a special needs case.
