Every team we've played so far won (except Brum) on Saturday ... I'm thinking we have played top half teams with exception of Birmingham who are in a state of flux
I only watched 1/2 the game on a link but we were lucky not to be more than 1 down at half time... Let's see Fuller fitter for maybe 30-45 mins vs Palace and the unappreciated Stephens back in centre mid... If we pick up anyone like Reo Coker then that changes things but any otheradditions probably go on to the bench? The line up vs Leicester looked good enough to squash Palace... as long as we bring subs in earlier...
Let's be very aware that 3 points on Friday 14th puts us in the top 6 !!! (maybe only for a day but it's the right end of the table)
Back from a long weekend in Nottingham with plenty of time to reflect! Reid (the new slim version) was very influential in the first half and out ran Pritchard (!) but he struggled to last 60 minutes and as his performance waned we got back in the game although we were still second best until Kerker and Fuller came on.
Cook struggled and Solly and Wiggins seem to be finding it dificult to adjust to the pace of the Championship.
Not a good performance but the team should benefit from the experience.
This season will be really interesting. There are lots of great games ahead. Charlton are still a work in progress and it'll be interesting to see how CP moulds his team. We all know what he did last year and I have every faith that he'll continue to help us grow. I, for one, am just glad we're out of League 1 and playing some decent teams again. For me, we're now in the level that we at least need to be and pushing upwards will make it exciting. I don't think we'll be in a relegation scrap but I also don't think we'll be in the promotion hunt. Maybe skirting around the bottom end of the playoffs from time to time but that will be about it. Too early for us to expect anything else at the moment in my opinion.
All the above is assuming that we do have a pot to piss in and that Chris is going to be given the board support he needs just like last year. We should then be able to see a good championship team slowly taking shape. I believe he has the nucleus already and he'll be able to build on this with some strengthening in the obvious places (for me that is defo the cental midfield area for a start).
This does seem a gap in our team with Hughes injured, and obvious fill for an experienced loan player or free agent type signing, e.g. someone like Shaun Derry?
We can't over look how very lucky we have been with our results, bar the birmingham which we should have won.
Leicester, we should have lost but somehow won, hull, we should have lost but somehow drew, and on saturday we got what we deserved, a loss.
You could say that it doesn't matter we've got the points but we can't keep overlooking the the problems which our team has at the moment, this type of luck surely can't last for the entire season.
Think it is very harsh and wrong to say we were lucky with any of are results as unless im incorrect, none of are opponents have had goals dissallowed wrongly or had penalties not given, if those teams did not score from every chance no matter how close it was it is irrelevant as they did not score them in a similar we had chances we did not score from, we got are points fair no matter if we were the better team or not.
Didn't see the game at all, but I think some people have to realise we are in a better division. I'm not rose-tinted in any shape or form, but the difference between these players and the muppets we've had the last few years is that they seem to give a shit. We are gonna lose some games - get used to it. I don't mind as long as we learn from mistakes and TRY.

Agree completly, plus to many of are fans seem to want a double promotion or are confusing that with if your not getting in the top 6 then we will struggle to stay up.
It's called mid-table most teams get that every season.

This.
I keep reading about how if we don't fix this or that, then we are going to struggle to 'compete'. Compete with who exactly? Because we're certainly good enough to compete with the worst teams in this league, and then some.

After each team had played 3 games, there were only 5 unbeaten teams remaining (one of which was Charlton).
After each team had played 4 games, there were only 2 unbeaten teams remaining (one of which is Forest).
And to put a rosy spin on it, it could even be said that Charlton are only 2 points from a playoff position, and 3 points from automatic.
It'll take a few more games yet (the proverbial 10 matches, of course), before the division shakes itself out.
All to play for!
