I know this is something that's been mentioned on here before, notably by northstandsteve, but something really ought to be done about the half time smokers in the north-upper lavs. It is absolutely disgusting. Yesterday it was just as if someone had built a bonfire in there.

I myself am not too bothered about not having a cigarette during the match and can wait till i get outside. to smoke in the loos must be a bit nostalgic, going back to your school days. still its disrepectful to both the clubs rules and to the fans who like yourselfs who have to put up with the fog and smell as you go to have a half time leak.
Did take it with me last time but didn't use it, is it legal to use in the stadium?
Well if the club have to hire stewards to man the gates at half time (which they would have to as the stewards already employed are doing their jobs in other parts of the stadium) it would be a pointless waste of money. Especially considering most smokers can hold out for the length of the match.
You can't smoke at The Vally as it is a workplace. I don't see how it should be any different to any other workplace, i.e the cinema, where members of the public refrain from lighting up for hours at a time.
Sirs,
Please can something be done to stop the problem of people smoking in the toilets at The Valley at half time. This is particularly troublesome in the North Upper stand; I do not know if it is an issue elsewhere in the stadium.
There is a group of smokers who seem to get into the toilets quite early at half time and smoke around the area of the cubicles. The smell is quite awful and I imagine that they must add significantly to the congestion in an area of the where there is limited space and at a time when people do not have long to do what is necessary. As well as creating an unpleasant atmosphere, there is also a health and safety issue with people being forced to inhale second hand smoke.
This has been a problem for a long time and has seemingly never been tackled. If any action has been taken in the past, it has sadly been inadequate as the problem continues to persist. This saturday, the smell seemed particularly bad and I do not exaggerate when I say that it smelt like a bonfire when approaching the toilets. I hope that the club takes its duty of care to its patrons seriously and takes the necessary action to halt the problem.
Thank you,
The UK has a strange unrealistic attitude to smoking bans. In my experience people will put up with all kinds of inconvenience (like having to stand out in the snow) provided they are given the opportunity, but smoke they (some) will. Just look at the mess outside Charing Cross station because someone has decided that because you're not allowed to smoke no-one will and that it's therefore not necessary to provide "utensils smoking-related refuse for the disposal of"
Yeah, nice one! - how The Valley and other open air arenas cant cater for smokers staggers me. Stewards love telling you (at away games, never enquire at home games) that no way can u have a ciggie - wish I didn't smoke, but I do and get seriously cheesed off that I have to sit in a poxy khazi at h/t
Call the police, someone's lit a cigarette in a no-smoking zone.

Lets write an e-mail and tell the establishment how unlawful our supporters are.
For christs sake, come up with a solution rather that a confrontation.
