Fulham copied us by reaching the Premier League and staying there, except they've managed to make it last longer than we did.
They are indeed punching above their weight as we did - why is that a bad thing? Don't tell me you weren't rooting for them in the Europa League final
Having an area for neutrals is very sensible business because they are in a perfect location for tourists. And lets face it - when we were in the Premier League there were always a few fans in those 27,000 crowds who weren't really Charlton fans.
Craven Cottage is many people's favourite ground because it has been redeveloped to make it suitable for modern football, but has still retained its charm.
Fulham are a cracking little.club, and very similar to our own.
Some of you need to grow up. Some of this anger, dislike and cock measuring that's emerged over the last couple of years is pathetic.
Surely everyones entitled to hate another team for no real apparent or silly reason. Fulham is my choice that's all. Is there no clubs anyone dislikes for nto much reason at all, besides the obvious two of course.
I suffer from temporary hatred through football, take last Saturday, I have always liked Orient, know a few O's fans and they are all good blokes yet when on the platform at Leyton being fronted by three likely lads during an unsavoury beer throwing incident I hated them, by the time they beat Stevenage on Monday I liked them again. I quite like Brentford but not for 24 hours on Monday and we won that game.....so Fulham, well i'm quite ambivalent to them really, once shared a train with the Fulham Psychos in 1984 and got off at Westcombe Park as they were demoliting the carraige from the inside and I think I was the next thing to go out the window! I think I will detest them until midday Sunday, am I alone with this temporary hatred?
Serious Nolly, only about 10 of them and thats what they were singing, not making it up, final home game of the season, I think they won 4-3, they were ripping seats out the window and laying on those net luggage racks you used to get kicking the roof in, Carl Greener and me were getting grief for not joining in so we jumped out at Westcombe Park and they threw lightbulbs at us until the train left...to make it more unbelievable their top boy looked like thier welsh striker Gordon Davies complete with a porno moustache...I am not making it up
There's a brilliant post on there about chasing Addicks out of the Hammy end with Happy Clappers if we can run for laughing at them. Reading that thread you have to love Fulham. So much more dignified than the Lifers obsessing about how many we'll take to Sheffield!
Fulham are a good club so let's not slag them off.
Usually you get away fans posting on here a few days before the game, even in division 3, we won't get that with Fulham! And that's despite the FA cup being bigger than the Super Bowl.
Well I'll bite. Hi there, I'm a Fulham fan and have been reading this thread and a couple of others. I've always liked Charlton as a club and I'm kind of surprised by the reactions here to be honest. I feel like both clubs are quite similar as they're smaller community/family-oriented clubs in London.
No we're not a big club but I think we're all pretty fine with that. We're a mile away from Chelsea and have QPR around the corner as well, so most fans are actually locals from Wandsworth, Putney and Fulham. We know we're pushing well above our weight and that it's partly due to Mo's money, but I think some very good management, smart and positive football have lead to us being where we are.
I don't know how many fans we'll be bringing - my guess would be somewhere between 8 and 10 thousand, but then again this isn't a very big game for us. We have been selling out our stadium practically every week in the league and
Fulhams support is and has always been pathetic, on a par with Wigan, did they even take 7000 to the uefa cup final?
Sorry but we had 25,000 fans in Hamburg for the final, according to BBC News. Not too bad that.
Also don't look at comments on the official forum because it is mostly full of idiots. FriendsofFulham is a much better message board and people there have, on the whole, been pretty positive about Charlton.
Fulham are Charlton on the River. To hate them is just ridiculous, we are so very similar to them. They are a well run club and are playing some very good football. All those trying to large it over Fulham are frankly a bit sad. If you wanna be a pseudo tough guy, go and watch the Spanners.
Feel free, however, to take the p!ss out of that statue, its the law!

I have always had a soft spot for Fulham and enjoyed the result against Arsenal. As the game nears I really have no idea how seriously either manager will be taking it. I am confident that if we play our best team and Fulham play reserves/youngsters they will be in for a shock. I think Chrissy will be tempted to rest a few but if say he played Evina instead of Wiggins, that would weaken us substantially - not necessarily at a lower level but against a good side yes.
No problems with Sullivan as there is some debate who is best, him or Hamer. I prefer Hamer but Sullivan is a good prospect and a good shot stopper. It would be tempting to rest Hollands but again, he is such a key player to us that doing so would probably weaken us quite a bit against this level of opposition. I am looking forwards to seeing Green, Jackson, Kermogant and BWP against Fulham. I think they will show up very well.
So bring on Saturday- a game that we won't be too upset about losing so for that reason one we will enjoy all the more I think. I suspect there will be a lot of pressure on Fulham, a) because they are playing a league 1 side and b) because this is a competition they have a realistic chance in. Having said that, staying in the premiership (which they should do but are not guaranteed to do)has to be their overwhelming priority so it may be tempting for Jol to rest a few. That would be the big mistake IMO and I am hoping for it.
Even with both teams playing their best sides, I think a Fulham victory rests on them getting a first half goal with no reply. I think the pressure will build if they don't and we know we have quality in terms of the final third. Quality a lot of Champuionship sides don't possess. If the league positions were swapped- this is the sort of tie I would be very worried about!
I've always quite liked Fulham as they've been a little bit quirky and different in my time of following football starting with Tommy Trinder and Tosh Chamberlain through to the present day with the Harrods man.
Decent post sweek. An element of our fans understandably have posted negative views on Fulham because you're our next oppos and we wish we were as successful as you are at the moment, so some of us are cheesed off with that. I have watched the fortunes of both clubs wax and wane for over 50 years, and I know the wheel of fortune will keep going round.
The biggest problem for both clubs is when we left our respective grounds, nothing during those times seemed quite right. There isn't a huge gap in the long term status of both clubs, and you're essentially a decent lot, with the second best ground in London.
Schlepping to Tottenham at this stage last season was a lot less fun than the prospect of coming over to the Cottage tomorrow...we will certainly enjoy our day out. The result will be great if we unexpectedly get something from the game, a defeat won't hurt us, but for Fulham anything less than a convincing win will be seen as a poor outcome.
sweek, you're not Chelsea, even if you're similarly sustained by a moneybags owner, you have maintained a degree of tradition, and for that I am glad. If you do beat us tomorrow, the only decent thing is for you to go on and win the thing ;-)

lol I've been reading Ooahh's comments to much they must be getting to me

Welcome Sweek, good post however as with all sites we have our fair share of posters who go a bit over the top and get their facts wrong.
Fulham & Charlton are not a million miles apart in terms of capacity, crowd size, away following and having a reputation for being a family club.
We even both have a statue outside our ground although I much prefer ours being an ex player and legend as opposed to Michael Jackson but hey ho.
Good luck tomorrow, may the best team win.
Thanks for coming on Sweek, always interested in other fans constructive views. Would be interested in your views of us after the game.
One of the problems Fulham have is that they have two players we really don't like - Danny Murphy and Andy Johnson.
Feel free, however, to take the p!ss out of that statue, its the law!
We got a statue of Super Sam, they get, well....
