Granted he was good and did his job well but way to 1 dimensional and had nothing going forward. only loved on here due to passion given,
i won't boo him. or even react when they come down to the valley.
but let's face it nobody would have him in the center of the park with the new signings anybody
semedo thanks for the effort and the commitment. but we've both moved on.
Ha ha - reading some of the stuff on that Sheff Weds forum really makes me look forward to our games against them next year. I admired Jose's effort but I think they'll be a little disappointed with his lack of ability to move the game forward (and God help them if he gets in a position where he should shoot).
Really couldn't give a fack about Jose leaving. And I've gone on record here in the past to prove that.
He done really well to chase the ball and slow play down, you know like a lot of the league one teams do, to slow the game down and see out a point here and there. But his style of play suffocates a nice, neat midfield from playing the ball on the deck in a positive fashion.
Glad Sheff weds are creaming themselves over it. I think the fact they are so excited by this goes to show that come next season they will be in a similar position at the end to the one they with alphabetically come August.
It's quite amusing to see some of the SW fans basing their opinions on a Wikepedia article saying that Jose informed us that he wanted to leave for a 'big club' and that's why he spurned our offers and went to sign for them!
Rhoys Wiggins - Yeah good signing but no major loss
Matt Taylor - No thanks
Paul Hayes - No thanks
Dale Stephens - Don't really know too much about him
Cedric Evina - Ok player but nothing special
John Sullivan - Erm...
Danny Green - Good player and yes we lost out on him .
Danny Hollands - Another that is ok but Semedo much better
Mikel Alonso - Was on loan at Bolton - i would say not really proved anything
Right i would take
Bradly Wright - Phillips
Scott Wagstaff
After that i'm struggling...
northern mongrels bite every time.
Brilliant!
The problem with these sort of posts is that they get re-visited after matches. One set of fans may end up with egg all over their faces. Let's look at this after we've played them.
Undoubtedly SW have picked up a good player, but all in all I think we've had the better close season, and it isn't over yet.
Whilst we may not have offered him a contract, CP said that they were negotiating, on that basis we would have decided his demands were too high and therefore we did not offer a contract.
Semedo was on 6k? Was he worth it compared to what the new boys are on? You thought he played for the badge, but has he just proven he played for the money?
I have to say I am surprised he has gone to Wednesday ahead of Sheff Utd who are a far bigger and better club. I guess Sheff Utd did not come in for him because it would have been a no brainer of a decision for the lad. The United fans are just so much more passionate and knowedgeable about their football. I spent 3 years up there and stewarded at both grounds so know a lot about them both. A half full Hillsbrough which is well past its sell by date is a miserable place to watch your footy.

Think he was on £4k here.
From Jose point of view, he won player of the year, runner up the previous year, one of the better performers now if we offered him a 50% pay cut that would mean £2kish a week which would work out at £104k a year.
IF Wednesday are paying him £4k what he was on here (Mandaric paying that is not out of the question) thats £208k a year, add in his brother and sister live there and his previous club don't think he's worth the money then you can see why he's gone. He probably still does love this club, but you wouldn't turn down an extra £100k a year for it....
Good luck Jose, you are the player you are, and I never doubted that you always gave of your best. To Sheffield Wednesday fans reading this, you have a good player, a 100%er, but a season changer, team changer...hmmmn maybe Megson has a cunning plan. Either way he has my good wishes.
Much rather it was Sheffield Wednesday than Millwall or Crystal Palace.
I certainly will clap him, and not give him any unwarranted abuse. Life moves on.
BRE, I agree you can understand his decision. I can't understand why people would believe his "I love CAFC" mantra when he is only money driven, which he just proven? However, if CP didn't want him then I think that should be good enough for all of us.
I must admit, I was never that impressed. A sign of a good midfielder is to be able to pick a game up and run it. He never did that as far as I could see. Maybe, as a holding midfielder that quality is less obvious or maybe he should have played CB. Either way, he didn't shine for me in a mediocre team and that says it all really.
Good luck to him though. He's moved on to better his career (money wise) and you can't blame him for that.
Pretty sure his place in midfield is well covered but I do feel he'd have been good cb / rb cover. That said, he probably wanted regular first team football which couldn't have been guaranteed by any means with us. Both those positions obviously need more cover soon but I'm sure that's being addressed.
Really is looking like clean slate time now as most of the players associated with the bad times move on, hopefully replaced by those who won't collectively accept failure as readily.
for those quoting the wednesday fans reaction, how about these for some quotes.
Engine room midfielder. What centre midfielder to leave?
Great signing.
I believe he is firmly in the "combative" bracket
Seems a decent signing
quite happy with the two signings so far, hardened players just what we need
if he's willing to roll his sleeves up and get stuck in for us - that's worth a lot in this league - could be a good signing
I know nothing about him but like the look of this signing from what I have heard - tough, no nonsence central midfielder. It would seem if we can get his head right he could be a decent player for us.
Sounds like a good signing to me.
Pretty happy about this signing.
this is how some of 'us' reacted to the signing of Mccoxo
lol love how they're acting like theyv taken our star player off us when really he was probably not offered a new contract to accommodate the new players/ease the wage bill etc.
Good riddance. Couldn't stand to watch him, only started playing when he knew his contract was up, a constant reminder of our failure as a squad and club to achieve anything.
Getting rid of Semedo represents a massive move forward.

Strangest comment i have read ever, i think you mustve meant Racon not semedo
Semedo was one of our most consistant players ever in the last years, i disagree wholeheartedly with any criticism of him , he done exactly what he had to
I think we'll miss him personally, although I'm encouraged by what we've signed instead. I think more importantly he will be a huge signing for Wednesday, one of our likely promotion contenders.
I understand that Powell would have liked him to stay but the offer to him was very very low. I wonder whether this will cost us.

Sheffield Utd are in all sorts of financial trouble, 50m in debt. Doubt they can afford 4k a year for Jose let alone 4k per week.
After we signed Hollands and Alonso, I thought it might be difficult to find a place for jose... would of said he was one of our best players last season, but then again, in that team, that's not saying much...
Same as many have said. After signing Alsono (supposedly a box to box), Stephens and Hollands (creative players) I didn't think Jose had a place in this team. Not the way CP wants us to play.
As for Wednesday I don't understand the bile from some of their fans. We don't have any bad blood as far as I'm aware. I've always liked Wednesday, remember them from when I was a kid, and I hope they come up with us.
Good luck to Jose and good luck for those Owls fans that seem to have their heads screwed on.

You can only be a money grabber if you are offered two different contracts.
Personally dont think we offered him na deal and never had any intention of doing so.
Owls fans have every reason to be pleased since they've got a 100 per cent player on a free.
Shame we have become so ungenerous to any player who leaves regradless of the reason but ce la vie
