What problem? I'm giving my opinions of him and saying IF he was on a free. People on here are still giving him abuse and even if we did sign him for nothing they would still boo him from the first game he appeared in. It would be interesting to gauge people's opinions on Waghorn were, to me he didn't look great for us but has gone on to have a good season for Leicester.
Problem with signing Mooney, not only does he majorly divide fans but also if he is to come back, we will surely have to pay some fee- which simply we cannot afford. Even if he is available for nothing or part of another deal, surely we can do better.

Exactly. And as rightly pointed out the same people ignore much graver errors by players who imo cared less for the cause. I also have a feeling we do have a worse element of fans for getting on certain players backs (sometimes unfairly: Kish, Hughes) - sheep mentality - than other clubs have.
Matt Harrold is a similar type of player but one who gives defenders a harder time, reputed to be on trial when we start training. I'd prefer better than either but beggars..............
For what it’s worth I can vaguely confirm what ‘Threadkiller’ said which is a shame imo as he can score goals in lg 1 and I’d imagine would be available on a free. He was very happy at the valley. In fact when his daughter was born he brought her a ‘Mooney’ Charlton shirt as he saw it as his club (as opposed to Reading or even Liverpool who he supports). But the abuse he got by the ‘fans’ when he was having an off game was ridiculous and if he’s got offers elsewhere then who would blame him? re cafcdan18 saying that the abuse received from other league 1 clubs would be worse - I disagree. I've been to a lot of league 1 grounds in the last few years following Brighton and I can think of very few that were more negative than the valley last season in abusing their own players.

There speaks another club's supporter and his impressions of a toxic Valley.
Fair comments 1zamora but in my humble, I struggle to see Mooney ever being a fans favourite if he plays like he did when he was at Charlton. He did have some very good games but he also had a few stinkers, it has been a long time since I have seen a player divide opinion so much. Even though I see Mooney's strengths and why he can be an asset, the guy has a lot of weaknesses and at his age, it is hardly as if there is much room for development.
Maybe I am being very naive by thinking The Valley faithful are not the worst about, but I still think Mooney would face similar treatment at a fair amount of League 1 clubs. Maybe not boos after only a handful of appearances, which for the record I am complete against (the booing of Mooney was a disgrace) but I think he would certainly divide opinions elsewhere and many fans would feel like those at Charlton and ultimately think Mooney is not good enough.

Charlton fans used to be very forgiving, it took some years for them to get on the back of Lisbie and if anyone remembers Barry Endean you'll remember a forward brought on a goalscoring record who was fat round and could not score for the life of him. Now it feels that the crowd are just waiting to pounce on anyone that comes in, unles they are Prem standard or a multi million pound prospect, actually I take that back because Jonjo got loads of abuse where i sat and i recall that his family took shit after a game last season (Orient away?).
Mooney is not brilliant but he is not the worst in the Division and why we are wasting so much time on him when we don't even hear any rumours that he is coming back I don't know. With the money we don't have Parkie is probably lining up a real donkey to come in and using the Mooney debate as a smokescreen.
I doubt any other league one ground can top ours for the negative nature of its vocal support - been this way for a few years now and often referred to by visiting managers.

lol , negativity ... wtf has there been since king curbs left that is positive .... am i missing something , should we all just say we're happy with our lot!
you wont find more positive fans than those that travel to follow england and they only booed once , at the end of the algeria game and we won the next game !
Sign him up. I don't mind a player having the odd stinker of a game. It happens to the best of players. The most important thing is that he has proved that he has the talent to be a good player. Good coaching, experience and confidence will decrease the frequency of his bad games.
I wasn't his biggest fan last season, primarily because of his lack of bottle but he clearly has talent. If he can toughen up a bit and not be expected to be our leading scorer he might still be a useful back-up option. Right now I'd prefer Bauza and needless to say, a goal-scorer.

i'm starting to worry that we can't

Thanks for completing what would have been a drunken post johnnybev1987
What else needs to be said?

One looks good in pre-season but lots of injuries, the other has scored for us but has flaws in his game.
I would rather sign him than Burton who obviously wants out anyway.
We can't sign all of Dailly, Fortune, mooney, Bauza, Reid, Francis, Ketteridge, Thorvalson, Basey, bejesus, etc etc as we can't afford all of them.
yes, thanks. All the Clique members were sent the matrix two weeks ago.
Doesn't make pretty reading I can say.
