[cite]Posted By: Sage[/cite]Thanks Oggy and cafc-4-life, appreciate it. Im only 14 as well xD lol.
I think Brett Pitman would be a great signing, swap deal with McLeod plus money from a sale of Bailey, which is always going to happen, would be a good move I think. Pitman's only 22 and scored over 20 goals in League Two this season, he can only get better.
You're welcome, but the Pitman thing just sounds like Mcleod, he was 22 odd and scored 20+ goals and look how he turnt out!

Thats true I guess, How about Adam Le Fondre seen him in a few highlights and looks a very capable striker and would be at league one level too. All I can say is we need a striker to score 20+ goals next season and Le Fondre could be the man, once again its down to money which we dont have. We could always try and do a swap deal with Rotherham of Mcleod going the other way ;} we can dream ayy. Lol

If i were Dave Mooney i wouldnt want to come back to Charlton, the way he has been treated at this club is an utter disgrace. Some of you morons on here really get under my skin about it as well. No he may not be the best player we have ever seen down at the Valley but come on, wake up and smell the coffee! In the 2 play off legs he played very well under difficult circumstances. Second leg he was the best player on the pitch by an absolute mile, but what can the lad do to please some of you lot. From my experiences at games this year, out support is getting worse and worse, Huddersfield away for example, some old granny behind me absolutely crucifying poor Mooney, she doesnt have an f**king clue about the game. I go to Swindon away, we have the little chavvy kids who all try and get the sing songs going, but were probably also the kids who were calling for Shelvey to come on in games where we didnt need to bring him on. And some of our other fans consist of and age group who look more like train spotters than football fans and I have heard many of these crucify some of our players and Parky. So David Mooney if your reading this mate....run a mile because you dont stand a chance with our lot!!
And to any of you lot who actually thinks Mcleod is a better player than Mooney....stroll on!He is by far the most spineless, laziest and utter technically terrible striker to ever put on a Charlton shirt!
Mooney had his best game in the home leg v Swindon but in the away leg he was awful. I'm sorry but no-one can ever convince me that Mooney is a footballer. If he's back next season I'll be mortified. Saying that he is marginally better than Akpo .....
His first touch is better than most of our other strikers and some of the goals he scored were top draw....i can tell you large he is a footballer, he does lack that bit of strength and aerial prowess but then again if he had that he wouldnt be at Charlton!I think you got to understand were in League one now with League one players, and i think given the service, Mooney can be successful in this league!
I'm not sure either way on Mooney. If he's playing well he's a good player to have, but on a bad day he doesn't offer much. Think I've probably said before, Parky should probably consider other options first, a bit like he did when signing Richardson rather than Murty.
From the little I saw of Mooney I thought he was a technically gifted player but not up for the rough of tumble of League One...we need a Morison (Millwall) or Austin (Swindon) type player who can put it about as well and has a decent touch.....Akpo goesn't really have any tehnical ability imo.....
If Mooney comes back then the jury is out, there are a lot of positives, but he also has to work on consistency and strength on the ball. Lets not forget that it was his first season of competitive league football (lets not kid ourselves that the irish league is up to much), so that whilst his skill level would have been highlighted, the flaws in his game would only come to the fore in the heat of real battle. He now has the summer to work on his game as Burton did last summer, before returning to whatever club he is with and performing on the field, its down to him but lets not right him off just yet.
I can't believe what I am reading here. Some of you actually want Mooney to sign and think he has potential. Are you crazy?
He is rubbish, utter rubbish and not only that he is weak...made of ice cream was the best I heard, has no presence and defenders must love marking him.
If this is the level that Charlton Athletic have now reached then I fear for the future.

Forget about Mooney, I fear for the future anyway!!
if he signs for us next season then im going to hang myself.he is no better than the youth we have here. so send him packing and get in a proven goalscorer at this level and mix it up with youth and experience.parkinson you are useless!!!!!

Depressing indeed. Nicky Forster has proved he can still score goals at this level, and i would have him in there over Mooney next season.
Their scoring records for us aren't much different. Particularly given one of Forster's two was a pen. As many others have said I'd question whether Mooney is the answer, but this post sums up how personal bias affects judgement

Which youths have you seen that are better? I like the cut of Tuna's jib, but he's never scored a senior goal and he was playing 3 leagues below us. I don't believe we have any forwards that are brighter prospects than him, but please put me right. So, if we did introduce him I fully expect he'd be the subject of the moaning booboys in almost no time.
mortimerician.....i have seen tuna play and i have seen mooney play.tuna is no better than mooney and mooney is no better than tuna. for that reason i would have tuna because he is 18 and one of ours. tuna scored on his first start for the club in the paint trophy. and if the boo boys start on him its because he is not banging the goals in.that is what a striker is supposed to do or have i got that wrong.

1. Suicide is not a joke and I particularly find that offensive.
2. This is one fan asking what we would think if we did sign him not saying we are or anything like that so your attack on our manager is rubbish.
3. Mooney IMO has scored a couple of cracking goals but I believe he can improve himself.

JPT? Not a real cup but you know it was a senior goal!
dazzler21.....one. if you found that offensive then i apologise and take that back. two. i attack the manager because he signed the player and we are still stuck in this league and i dont rate player or manager. three. mooney can improve as a player but so can every player that kicks a ball.so whats your point?
No Sidcupterry your wrong, not every player can improve, and what dazzler says is true. Mooney who HAS the technical ability meanwhile improving the strength side to his game and becoming a better player. Akpo Sodje on the other hand who has no technical ability and not really a lot of strength and pace either will never improve as a player!!
I'm a fan, at this level all the players in your team will have flaws, that's why they're playing in League 1!
He has technical ability, but his problems seem to be mental. If he can get a bit of confidence then i think he can go on a bit of a scoring streak.
McLeod is awful, he has the worst first touch of any profesional footballer i can remember. I saw him get the ball against Welling and his first touch sent the ball about 20 yards in front of him. He then used his pace to chase after it, but you're not going to get anywhere with that bad a touch, at his age, in this league.
I havn't seen much ability, technical or otherwise, but I'm giving up on banging my head against a brick wall. If we sign Mooney and if he plays a substantial amount of games next season then we won't score enough goals to get out of League 1. Now, if you are happy with that then fair enough but I'm not.
