  • I get goosebumps everytime I think of him slamming home that goal!

    It couldn't, could it??

    As AFKA just said:

Chrissey Powells Red and White ARMY!

Can you imagine this being sung in a week or two or sooner.

Any other appontment is going to be a real downer (for me) now!
  • Maybe Gary Johnston as manager and Chris Powell as first team coach?
  • and we can also bring back the Eddie Youds song after all...
  • Think it is going to happen, unless there is some last minute glitch. I'm trembling with emotion here !

Can't see him leaving City for anything other than a manager's role. Why would he?
  • To anyone doubting that the appointment of Chrissy Powell is a good idea, can I just say:

(In my best DARTH VADER voice)

I FIND YOUR LACK OF FAITH DISTURBING.
  • I lOVE CHRIS POWELL

Come home buddy you know you want to

  • Interesting that Airman Brown chips in with a comment. Means there might be something in It.
    However

Firmani, Lawrence & Curbs were all working for the club at that time of appointment and cheap.

Except for 1 season Firmani failed and was sacked, both Lawrence and Curbs were given time to win promotion that I don't think we have got this time .

I would be happy however to go al;ong with Chris Powell but I'm not sure everyone will be as positive as some on here

He wouldn't I don't think, especially not to assist a manager he has never worked with before.
  • Where's Polo for an 'inside' word when you need one?
  • It's the hope that kills you!

I wouldn't put our chances of landing SCP as low as 10%, yes there are more than a few potential names floating about, but there is very little evidence to suggest Waddock, Johnson, and co stand more of a chance (other than what the bookies are signalling). Fingers crossed he comes, not sure how much attention the board have given CL, but if they were to appoint Chrissy (coupled with signing Eccleston) then I have the feeling we are all in for one helluva ride!
Just hope news of his appointment doesn't hit whilst i'm in a three hour lecture this afternoon, otherwise a bellowing 'get in!' will land me in the sticky stuff.
  • I think this is a great appointment from the owners point of view, too. With us having non-charlton people at the helm of the club for the first time in a long time, re-connecting the fans with a charlton legend through the manager of the team just seems perfect all round.
  • When shall we expect an official announcement of the next manager? are there any press conferences being called? (sorry i cant be arsed to read the 150 new posts to find out! :P )

  • I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be the year i asked for an electric guitar and got a fishing rod.
  • I'm I alone when I say, this almost feels as tense as the takeover.

  • Don't underestimate the power and potency of a united club. I really believe this man can make Charlton an irresitible force. Above all he will make us proud of our club once again, proud to be Charlton and I cannot wait to hear the singing at our next home game. I reckon even Jazzy will be impressed by the noise. I never sing. Haven't done in 45 years since my first game. But just for once even I'm going to join in!
  • I am with you Jazzy this is the worst feeling ever
  • I believe!

    I'd say more so...!

ho ho ho, that was funny i just dribbled tea all over my laptop! cheers for that!
  • I think 'that' Chris Powell goal should have the England WC final 66 commentary with it.

''some people are on the pitch....''

No, you're not - I can't drag myself away and there are things I really should be getting on with. We do need an Echo style blog though.
  • Maybe it's all of us that have collectively made this happen with mind power! Like that positive thinking thing that Uri Geller harps on about. Keep it up guys, the positivity, until the dotted line is signed!!

Come on Liam /Newsshopper ... get on with it ;-)
  • surely someone at the club must look on here?

im not saying that CL affects the clubs decisions but the board must want to know what the fans want/think
