The longer it goes on the more likely it will be Wise I reckon...

Yeah they're wearing us all down emotionally so in the end we are grateful for our saviour (Wise)!!

Do you really think they care about what we think that much ???

Well, firstly what I said was very much tongue in cheek.

Secondly, they did care what we thought after the swindon result, didn't they?
  • Time for a poll me thinks. Out of:

    Powell
    Johnson
    Curbs
Wise (i swear if anyone goes for him...)
    Poyet
    Tisdale
    Scott
    Taylor
    Steve Brown
    Matthews
    Hoddle
    Peacock

This is of course who we would like, not who we think will be named manager.

    My vote goes to Curbs.
  • Powell. The more I think about it it just feels right. Think I'm gonna be disappointed when an announcement's made though...

    You and ALOT of others!
  • I really find it hard to believe that people are seriously putting chris's name forward, come on guys, legend as he is, let's talk from the head and not the heart. he has absolutely no experience of management and do we really want to drag him through the mud and tarnish his career before it even gets going?

Rather he started somewhere he is loved than somewhere where folk will be indifferent to him and a lot harsher if he didnt suceed.

Loves the club and knows what it means to the fans and could probably drive that into the players.

No brainer for me and will be vastly underwhelmed if he doesnt get it.
  • Would he jump out of the tunnel after a win as manager or would it be to unprofesional? Heart says yes to chris head says no.
  • Does Chris Powell have any less experience as a manager than Curbs and Gritty in 1991 or, arguably, Lennie Lawrence in 1982? Or Eddie Firmani in 1967?
  • Looks like the concern of everyone is that we do not want Chrissy to besmirch his wonderful reputation with us if it all goes wrong. I don't think it would go wrong personally.
  • gary johnson all day long

  • A random football journalist on twitter has just said Powell is to have talks with the club. Might just be based on that Leicester website said last night.

    @FanhousePercy John Percy
#Leicester coach Chris Powell is to have talks with #Charlton #LCFC #CAFC
  • I've honestly tried not to get excited about any names linked to avoid disappointment and in order to give whoever does get the job my full support.

    However...

There is one name I cannot ignore and that is Sir Chris Powell, how can anyone not be excited at the prospect of him managing our club?! I'm now fully nailing my colours to the mast, I want this to happen.
I've been through so many negative things with this club in recent years, this would really reignite the feel-good factor with me.

  • ''Chris Powell in pole position for manager's job at Charlton'' This is looking good... if true of corse.

    Not everyone.

  • They've seen the odds drop same as we have and don't know why, same as we don't. Nothing new in that article at all, just the result of the guessing game caused by oversensitive bookies and swathes of unfounded rumours and suggestions flying round.
  • would he need permission to speak to us?
  • Elliot has taken the role of tunnel jumping so no need for you to do anymore of that Chris....I mean Sir Chris. Please give it a go, most of us will support you.

I have felt so dejected supporting Charlton recently and this is the first time I have felt even remotely excited about anything Charlton for a very long time.

CP may not tick every box, sure, but he ticks most of them in my book and that most important box of uniting our supporters (well most of them it seems).

Something like this needs to happen to lift our spirits and unite our club once again. Also, I think those saying he IS NOT ready are doing him a disservice. Read the comments of Sven, Leicester chairman and all their fans, who are no mugs I can assure you.
  • Yakubu gone to leicester on loan
  • foxes fans love him as well

    Seconded
  • I've been impressed by what Sven said about him. People may have a downer on Eriksson but he has won the league in 3 countries so he does know something about leadership and management. (not to mention pulling).

Chris is possibly too nice a man to be manager. If we are going to consider assistants who've never been in the hot seat, I give you Mark Bowen and Glynn Snodin.
  • The more I think about it the more right this is. It would reignite the Club like no other manager appointment would and he'd be cut more slack than any other manager would. The position we are in now doesn't make us favourite for the top two spots in any way, shape or form. He would be under less pressure than Johnson or Tisdale. One day he'll be a good manager somewhere so why not with us, why not now? We may never get another chance.
