[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]And to the Evening Standard, that rag of a so called NEWS paper that is not even fit to be used to wipe one's neither regions, you can f*** right now. You will never be forgiven for your "Chris Who?" headline (well not by me anyway).
"It's similar to what I said last week," said Peacock on Thursday afternoon. "The owners are trying to put something permanent in place but we've only had six days since the Tottenham game and you lose a day because we'll be travelling to Sheffield on Friday.
"It's been a short week but as it stands, I'll be taking the team at Hillsborough. I'm in regular contact with the owners, and they'll inform me if there's anything happening."
Plenty of names have been linked with the vacant managerial position in SE7, but Peacock continued: "It's something I won't comment on. There are a number of good managers in the game and out of the game. It's an amazing industry like no other."
yeah, its too late for a new manager to take charge, since he hasn't actually had a look at the players. I think the new manager will be in the stands by that time
One thing i'm slightly worried about is that do the owners know how much SCP becoming manager means to us, the fans. I'm worried they don't understand.

Well Reg and Minty should certainly know - and you'd hope they'd tell them!

Keith Peacock has confirmed he will again be in caretaker charge when Charlton head to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday
Perfect. Sir Chris has first game in charge at the Valley. Imagine the covered end. 5 to 3 sat afternoon a living legend emerges from the tunnel. Meltdown ensues.
Would I be right in thinking that Varney/Murray are likely to have been the instigators of this move, that it suggests Slater/Jiminez are listening very closely to what they have to say, that their role may be somewhat more than 'ceremonial' and that there is a greater unity of purpose between these four, representing 'old' and 'new' Charlton, than some were claiming when Parkinson was sacked ?
Genuinely really excited about this, every manager is a gamble but Chris Powell ticks most of the boxes. The key would be for him to have the right assistant- not sure who that would be, maybe Keith Peacock but certainly someone with experience who maybe knows the club aswell. I know it is his first job but he has been part of the coaching team at Leicester, has all the badges and has worked with some of the best and worst managers about so imho his lack of management experience is not a big a problem as may be believed.
This is the one appointment that will unite the fans, think Chris Powell will get the players playing for him and the fact he knows the club inside out is a massive bonus. Is it too much to think maybe we could get Steve Brown back as part of the coaching team.
Imagine the atmosphere next Sat if this goes through.

Yep - makes sense to let a new manager start on the Monday morning, like Jewell and Ferie Jnr have done.
That's a FACT

Anyone got Slater and Jiminez email address? ;-)
Chris Powell looks to be in the running for the charlton job. He has the body of a 20yr old and the face of a 60yr old!! Ha ha
He is a legend though. Hope he gets it and does a great job. Top man Powelly!!

We know that Bobby's been driving him around
Not good enough I want to know what SCP is eating for dinner damn it!
strange but true ... any new manager ... if not Chris ... would now have to match up to someone who hadn't even been appointed ... lol
If so, I am very encouraged by that...
Yes! I think that is a must. Good thinking Batman!
