I'm glad Dickson has not gone to the Gills. I know i'll get shot down by some but i'd still like to see another striker sign for us. Kandol would have been great but that won't happen yet.
[cite]Posted By: BlackForestReds[/cite]Three months loan sounds sensible - if he scores goals and if one of Burton/McKenzie/Tuna gets injured he can be recalled and will be fit, if not we can sell him rather than let him go for nothing.
Hardly going to want to leave somewhere we he is playing regularly and scoring goals to come and, at best, sit on the bench with us is he.
If he's not scoring, who will want to buy him anyway?

Currently our forward line consists of Burton, McKenzie and Tuna, we certainly need another striker in there.
I wonder if Dickson going on-loan isn't a book balancing exercise to allow us to free up the money to bring in a loanee ourselves?

That choice is Parky's, not his. If we want/need him back then he'll be back.

Parky can't make him want to play for us and we would run the risk of having a disruptive player around the place.

I agree with AFKA, seems a strange move.
Gillingham will buy/acquire him unless he suffers an injury, and I'm guessing that he went to BR because they offered to pay more of his wages than Gillingham did. As to whether he wants to return or not, he's under contract to us. If he does come back and stay it'll be because he's needed and will therefore get playing time, or because he's injured or that he's failed to score and surplus to requirements, in which case we got his wages or some of them off our books.
For obvious reasons we shouldn't be getting rid of a forward, but let's see if we get a player in ourselves.
He'd surely only be recalled if we were going to play him though so would he be that unhappy playing for us. My guess is he'd rather play for us than Bristol Rovers. Probably all irrelevant anyway as i'd guess we've seen the last of him in a Charlton shirt

Think we would have to have a lot of injuries for Dickson to work his way to the first team with Burton, McKenzie, Tuna and McLeod all being preferred at the moment.
Think you're right though, I really would be surprised if we saw him in a charlton shirt again.

Is that the same Leeds fan who said Richardson was rubbish?
It is indeed - his issue was with the fact that he was always being caught out of postion.
There again his replacement can't be doing too bad given that Leeds haven't conceded a League goal in open play for 553 minutes i.e. since the opening day of the season.

Yeah good idea Chris they have no night life problems down there :-)
A Bristol Rovers footballer has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a man suffered a fractured skull when he was hit with a bottle in Bristol.
League One midfielder David Pipe, 25, has been released on bail after the assault in Park Street at 0400 BST on Wednesday.
The injured 29-year-old is recovering in the city's Frenchay Hospital.
Mr Pipe, a former Wales Under-21 captain, has been bailed until 20 September.
'Serious injuries'
An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: ''A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault in relation to an incident which occurred at 4am on Wednesday.
''Police were called to a disturbance near a bar in Park Street.
''A 29-year-old man suffered serious head injuries and it was suggested he had been hit over the head with one or more bottles.
''He is recovering in Frenchay Hospital with a fractured skull.''
Mr Pipe, who has a full international cap, joined Bristol Rovers in July 2007 from Notts County for £50,000.
A Bristol Rovers FC spokesman said: "As yet the club is not fully aware of the facts surrounding the incident.
"The club is currently carrying out an internal investigation, and until this is complete the club will make no further comment."
Hope Dicko does well there, if he scores regularly like he did at gills, we would be mad to sell him permanently! Also he is another option to Burton and McLeod (who imo are first and second choice) if either gets injured or loss of form. Tuna is inexperienced so think Dickson could still have a bright future with us, if he come back after a successful loan that is
Well someone will be proved right. He will obviously get games and we can then see if he can do it. No way of telling by his Charlton career. Will be very interesting.
Funnily enough I hope I'm proved totally wrong and he doesn't score a single goal because all the evidence of Parky's reign is that the boss doesn't rate him and wants rid (as long as he can get more than £50K for him.)
Actually, thinking about it, it is Parky who will hope he doesn't score otherwise a few questions might be asked of his judgement AND man management skills. Or is he just hedging his bets "that's just what he needed to get some goals under his belt". By that time Dicko might have better options anyway.
"I asked him about the Dickson transfer and basically Bristol Rovers offered us the best chance of getting some kind of decent fee for him in Jan if he does well."

So he does want him to do well just not for us!!!
He also said how much he is focusing on character, commitment and team cohesion and in particular players who actually want to play for the club not ones who want a move because they didn't play in the first pre-season friendly.

We are playing 4-5-1 and have McLeod, McKenzie and the fishboy. If one gets injured, then maybe we should sort something out then.
Having them on the wage bill but not playing would make little sense under the current conditions IMHO.
If so why not ask Parky about the wisdom of letting a striker go and whether there are plans to repalce him.

Didn't Super Kev score against them?

"They are worried about him coming to us and doing well and it scares them and it’s a sign of weakness."
I thought Jordan had that in the bag or is it Katie Price?
"It's away from London and away from the nightlife so I can get my head down and get focussed."
Sounds like even he knows he hasn't applied himself correctly with us.

Its obvious now, but the temptation would have been too great ;)
