Maybe because most rumours are made up or flights of fancy.......?
I think you've hit the nail on the head there Oggy. 99% of the rumours we're talking about were dreamt up by lonely teenagers in their breaks between jacking off to youporn. No glamour in being a centre back so the rumours focus on forwards and midfielders.
I just checked with Danny Phillips and he said that they were interested, he did hear that but nothing has come of it, so far. He has been too busy trying to impress the Charlton scouts!
Skysports.com understands Colchester have rejected an offer from Charlton for Magnus Okuonghae.
Okuonghae: Bid rejected The 25-year-old defender has produced a series of impressive performances for Colchester since arriving from Dagenham & Redbridge in 2009. His fine form has not gone unnoticed, though, and Charlton are believed to have lodged a bid for his services. Although the offer was turned down, the Addicks are now thought to be poised to make a second approach. Okuonghae is also understood to have attracted interest at Championship level and it remains to be seen where his future lies
From wikipedia- Affectionately nicknamed "The Beast" by the U's fans, Okuonghae has held the captain's armband for much of his first season with Colchester.
6 ft 3 according to wiki as well.
Looks like he's probably one of the big physical players Powell is targeting. Seems we'll do well to get him with there being Championship interest, but good to see we're looking at the better players in this league.

Anyone nicknamed "The Beast" should always be signed, regardless of whether he's any good

In that case there is a goal keeper and a striker we should be trying to sign then...

a bit injury prone according to my Colchester season ticket holding colleague, good player if he can stay fit apparently.

I agree, and I'm greatly looking forward to our new centre back pairing of Aleister Crowley and Dennis Skinner.

Looked awesome as a youngster before making a duff move and not getting 1st team football
Also someone claims Hayes has turned down Watford and will sign for us this week, along with Clayton Donaldson.
Let's face it - we just don't know!
There is alos one on there saying we will sign Thierry Henry on loan. And that Semedo will move to Sheff W to be near his brother.
Someone is watching the CL site, feeding info into FR and having a bloody good laugh when we all start arguing about it.
@ISLS
Lost it when he started wearing cardigans ;0)

Where's Pardew when you need him ....?
Why would Semedo not have a brother who has moved to Sheffield?
