  • That'll come back to haunt us.
  • will either be not a big loss or could really haunt us in the future. maybe he is just not as good as he thinks he is. PArds and PArky are no mugs he must be doing somthing wrong.. attidude maybe? can only see a league one club comming in for him to be honest.

I can see Millwall coming in for him & him firing them to promotion...
  • There is plainly something going on that we don't know about with this guy
  • good luck to him
    no loss to us though
  • I've always thought with Dickson that if he was good enough he would've had more chances by now.

The fact McLeod gets ahead of him probably tells you something.
  • would be a good move for him that F-Block. somthing has not been right since he has been here, from the you tube video's to sodding about in hotels getting himself injured think the lad may need a reality check..
  • Will be interesting to see what happens.

Can see him going to another Championship team, scoring a couple on his debut and everyone moaning he never got a chance here.

I'd still prefer him to McLeod, he's had a few starts which Dickson hasn't.

Still don't think he's 'the next big thing' or 'new Ian Wright' though.
  • The next Paul Gorman

I think a lot of managers like a more all round player. Not someone that gets into the box and shoots. Because Dickson doesn't and will never do much more apart from score goals.

  • mistake in my opinion... next season what's left of Toddy will be shot, McLeod will be out, Waghorn will be back and Gray might have to go to balance the books
  • I know not every body rates him, but i'll be sorry to see him leave without being given a chance to show what he can do. He must be practically the only member of the squad not to have made a start. Why ??. I ve a feeling he'll be a regular scorer elswhere, and we could badly do with one of those ourselves. I do wonder about us sometimes.
  • would be a shame to see him go without haveing been given a few games, as said before paul gorman had a plenty of games as did Kim grant apparently niether or these come close to Chris' finishing abilty so would be a shame to let a natural goal scorer leave the club, could be a bit David Whyte esque.
  • look what happened to him when he left (and when he was with us...)
  • David Whyte had everything football wise to have been a top quality player, the bloke was a shamble off the pitch though, and it caught up with him.

As for Dickson, as much as everyone harps on about the goal at the Hawkthrones, I remember the sitter he missed at the Valley in the first game of that tie, and the way he stopped when clear through against Watford.

true enough there, should have buried both
  • His primary weaknesses according to club coaches include, poor first touch, unable to link play or hold ball up. First one of those alone would surely proclude him from being a pro footballer no ?
  • another simon walton... we all get excited over every player that signs for us and for most part in the last couple of years they've been junk, hence our league position

getting overexcited is all part of being a fan though - it's what makes the game fun! We all like to think we have unearthed a gem.

Sadly is hasn't worked out and I wish Dicko all the best. I still think he will score goals
  • If he went to Millwall and fired them to promotion I think there'd be quite a few unhappy chappies on here (me being one)

  • Charlton : No starts. 14 sub appearences. 1 goal
Crewe: 2 starts. 1 sub appearence. No goals
Gillingham: 11 starts. 3 sub appearences. 11 goals

Career to date: 13 starts. 18 sub appearences. 12 goals

    Good luck to him.
  • How long has he got left on his contract, obviously is a deciding factor in how much we might get?

    18 months to go
  • Ridiculous. The bloke has never started a game for us. he has always looked half decent when he came on as a sub, is a player who we own the registration of and is clearly desperate to play for charlton. He is on low wages and scored 11goals in 14 for gillingham, yet they would rather waste more money on loans like waghorn and burton before giving him a chance, its embaressing. so what if he doesnt come good, he has at least done enough to warrant a couple of starts, mcleod has had those even though he proved long ago that he is a very poor footballer. even if there is something we dont know about e.g. attitude problem, then so what, david whyte had an attitude problem doesnt necessarily stop him being a decent player, we arent in a position to be fussing at the minute. besides, i dont blame him for having an attitude problem if the club are going to sign proven nobodys like burton on high wages rather than play him
  • For me, Dickson's major weakness is that he thinks he is Ian Wright. He tries to copy the run, the mannerisms etc .... but without the basic ability to back it up.

Yes, I know he scored a lot of goals for Gillingham but, from what I have seen of him, his overall play is poor. He has a limited repertoire of tricks and is predictable, something that his hero never was. Most telling is that fact that a number of people who have played against him at non-League level do not rate him. The YouTube stuff is embarrassing - clips from only one or two games, and even those include shots across goal etc.

I'm prepared to look foolish on this one, but I don't think he will make the grade either with us or elsewhere.

Waghorn on the other hand ...........
  • Anyone at West Brom Away in the cup last year will know this is a mistake the only game he's got over 45 minutes and he ripped them apart you can't judge a player on 15 minutes here and there.

If the club had given him 6 games and he had flopped I would of held my hands up and admitted I was wrong about him but the fella hasn't even had a chance.

If the club had spent big money on him he would of played and had his chance just like the others who have all flopped, I maybe wrong but if he gose this will be another good player slipping through the net.

    I completely agree!
  • I thought he was pants!

If your getting overlooked by someone as bloody awful as McLeod then it's time to go

And if you are all honest he hasn't really looked 'half decent'.

    But hey he's no Deon Burton. . . . .

Most telling is that a number of non-league players that play against him do not rate him? And how many did he score down there? a goal a game practically. id jump at a striker at the minute who defenders "dont rate" but still manages to score a goal a game against them. sounds like they are bitter because they are non-league players and he isnt.

his overall play is not poor, and it is outrageous to write a player off on a judgement made from the odd 15 minutes here or there. he needs to start a game. without exception he has always looked threatening when he has come on for us, especially compared with pretty much every other forward who has played for us in the last 2 seasons
