so much negativity … look at our forwards at the moment - Gray is doing okay, but Varney can't score, Dickson is crap, Todorov is too slow to partner Gray and Fleetwood is on loan.
So Waghorn provides competition to Varney and McLeod (if he's ready yet), surely that's good?; he is supposed to be very talented and, being new (to us) and so young, he should be full of confidence and raring to go.
If adapts well then great, we can keep him for three months, if not we can return after one, good deal, stop moaning.
[cite]Posted By: Scoham[/cite]I'll give him the chance, but I thought Pardew wanted experience, leadership, a bit more 'grit' etc, not a promising young player.
we are not likely to be getting four 18 year olds! So let's wait a tad and see who else we can muster.
Salad, Pardew spent millions on Mcleod and he has yet to be given a run in the team. Dickson has smashed them in for the reserves and when on loan, so if you're judging him by 20 minute cameos then well done. Fleetwood can be recalled. It's an insult that Pardew has spent money on transfer fees and wages on these players and hasn't even given them a run in the team. We lack goals so instead of playing these blokes HE brought in, he brings in an 18 year old on loan. Personally I think that's mental. What does that say about his transfer policy.

Mcleod - Not 100% fit - Due to go out on loan to get Match fit.
Dickson - Injured.
Fleetwood - Untested at Championship level
Waghorn - Played at Premiership level
Indeed, I'll be fully behind Waghorn. I just think it's absolutely ridiculous that we're going to develop somebody elses player instead of our own players whom we've already invested so much time and money in and who were also players that Pardew wanted, and who have yet to receive a chance.
The report from Germany was not positive maybe they are just seeing how serious it is only our medical staff know the answer and maybe with an injection he can plauy but he is nowhere near 100% fit and hasnt been all season
Yes, Dickson is not in Germany having treatment as suggested but starts tonight in the reserves v Palace alongside McLeod. That makes the Waghorn signing begin to look even odder.
I'm already feeling sorry for the young lad because there's going to be real pressure on him if he makes an appearance on Sat (presumably from the bench?) He's never scored a league goal and we are going to be sitting there thinking 'well come on, show us why you deserve to be playing ahead of Dickson and Mcleod'.
It's a perfectly reasonable question to ask and I hope he can answer it with his first ever league goal.
Hilarious stuff. Almost had kittens when I saw Dickson was in the line-up tonight. Am tempted to go down there, just to see him hobbling about. What the **** has happened to my club.
[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]bizarre. McLeod and Dickson are fit and ready, champing at the bit, raring to go with a point to prove and you bring in a rookie 18 yr old. Doh !!
That's Pardew though. He signed all the strikers we have here, the rest of the team don't create many chances for them (though when they do our strikers miss them), and he still has to bring in another one.
Even if Waghorn turns out to be a good player for us, why has Pardew signed so many strikers that he won't give a chance to? Really get the feeling he wants to sign players and turn them into stars, so many of his signings are good on their day but don't yet have the consistency or handle the pressure of playing every match.
Dickson was a punt, at £35k and with his record, you might as well see if it works. I'm not 100% convinced with Chris, a lot is made of the performance at West Brom, but he missed a complete sitter at the Valley in the first place which would have put us through.
As for McLeod, the deal at the time seemed odd, but again, great record at a lower level, and probably worth a punt. We got over charged, and he's not been fit, so that one didn't work out.
As for Waghorn, if he works out like Campbell did, then cool, if he doesn't I'm sure we'll hear about it on here.

Maybe, but there's a lot of lower league strikers like that. We signed another in Fleetwood, and had another 2 on trial, both at League Two clubs now.
Agree we paid too much for McLeod. He's never had a run but I don't rate him from what I've seen of him.

He has not been tried properly at this level give him games and he'll shine!
Maybe
exactly !!

Give the lad a chance
if this is what we have been waiting for then god help us with the next 2 or 3
Given that he has not had much opportunity perhaps he is adopting a sh** or bust attitude....

No was extended to 2010, so end season after this one.

I remember when everyone was dough eyed about Paul Gorman, in the same way as they are now about Chris
