I will boycott any game with the franchise. Not only are they a disgrace, so are the FA for allowing them to stay in the League when they should have started their MK project from the bottom of the football pyramid, like any other new club would.
The programme on AFC Wimbledon on Nuts TV by the way is called Football Hurts and it is this current season, just a few weeks behind. Marcus Gayle has returned to the club and plays at centre-half at the age of about 38.
[cite]Posted By: buckshee[/cite]just turned on soccer am to see that dirty franchise scum fans on fans of the week.
I hate it when I see the media seemingly supporting what went on.
Why are they scum? because they support their local team? Not their fault that The League, The then Owners, The Local authority all combined to create this club - call them scum, but the people from Milton Keynes, they maybe plastic in a plastic city but they are not scum.
It's not their local team - it's a team that was stolen and placed in their town. If they cared that much for "local teams", they'd have backed Milton Keynes City instead of leaving to fold when Wankleman brought his Frankenstein club to town, or gone to Luton or Northampton instead of jumping on the bandwagon. They're club-stealing scum.
So by going to watch a team that was 'placed' in their town, they are 'scum'?
Whatever the circumstances of the setting up of a club or its background, I think the use of the word 'scum' to describe a whole set of supporters, young and old etc, is over the top.
Now we know that we are playing MK Dons in the league next season, it was interesting to read in the Battle for the Valley book that Charlton were being mooted to being moved there in 1973.
General manager Rodney Stone gave an interview to Peter Burrowes for the Kentish Independent in April 1973 where he claimed the club had been approached by a progressive Midlands borough, with a view to moving there. At the time the club were having run ins with Greenwich Council, re the weekly market and sports facilities at the Valley.
This led to discussions with Milton Keynes officials about the practicality of a move there. The club said this would not happen unless they were forced out by the attitude of the council.
I've already been there. Though, in my defence, it was to put a router in their comms room
I think the whole situation stinks as well, and will never give them my money. Not that I have any particular love for AFC Wimbledon - I just feel that MK Dons don't deserve to be in the league.
We should never play them in a friendly. However this season we will be playing them in a league game and you have to support your club. What's the difference between what they have done and what Arsenal did when they left SE London? Don't forget that Arsenal didn't even win promotion to the top league and brought their way into it.
There are quite a few clubs that moved or don't play where they were formed, two come to mind are Millwall don't play in Millwall and Palarse don't play in Palace.
I will be going i support CAFC and do so at any ground, being so self righteous about them is fine but to the detrement of your own team is pointless what are you going to prove other than the fact that our away turnout will be pony

I see what your saying but Arsenal had huge competition with a massive club on their door therefore had to move, Francise FC were delibrately located where there is minimal competition
There is no difference IMO Dave and all those that have watched us play the Gooner shit at home and away must surely realise that and i dont remember reading that folks wouldnt go to the library or to the new place
well, seeing as we can't get the Club to pull out of this fixture I'll be going to support Charlton but don't like the thought of lining their pockets.
The only way teams are gonna compete with others are by franchising, and this is the way more and more clubs are going, shouldnt really knock it, as one day it could be us in that position.

There's been a few...But this gets my vote for stupidist post ever.
Maybe because I worked in MK,I have no qualms going there. Saw the Johnson Paint Trophy Semi a while backand its the best new ground I have been too. Understand others reason for disliking them, but now tome they are just another city I have worked in. I am though more resentful of them selling us bloody McLeod
Wow it seems most of the forum is going! Perhaps the club should apply for an increased allocation?
The main difference from Arsenal and MK Dons is the club didn't reform as a completely new club. Also they happened in 2 completely different eras. There was no reason why a club based in Wimbledon couldn't succeed.

But that was PRECISELY the reason why the team (was) moved. Their gates at Plough Lane were below 4000, and even less attended their games at Selhurst, to the extent that their accounts for their last 2 years in South London budgeted for an attendance of...zero. Now MK Dons have a s/t fan-base approaching 10K.
There was no reason why the gooner shit couldnt survive either,
there are alot of self righteous opinions towards MK and if it is right or wrong i dont particualy care,
No one is asking you to support them the question is if you believe that your teams need for support is more or less than you going to a game and giving your money to MK
mine is with my team always has always will be couldnt give two shits who they play if i can get there i will end of.
But Clive I think the point people are making is that teams should not just be parachuted from one part of the country to another but develop their way through the structure and build up their support, through supporting over years.
MK have done well to collect 10k ST's, most of the supporters I met up there, for them MK was their 2nd team. The Club reflects MK the city of course no true heritage, most inhabitants have parachued there as London overspill.

So easily could have been us then.
1 team being "francised" is 1 too many.
Should Never have been allowed.
