I'd find it hard to pick between two. Richard Rufus because, well, he's Richard Rufus and, following my heart, Carl Leaburn. He wasn't the best but I adored the bloke.
Must have missed this first time around! Most of my Charlton heroes have been strikers and at one time or another I have idolised Eddie Firmani, Cliff Holton, Ray Treacy, Arthur Horsfield, Flash Flanagan, Alan Simonsen, Paul Walsh, Jim Melrose... you get the picture. But the question is who is your favourite and that will always be Killer for me.
Edit: Actually if I engaged my brain I'd have seen that the thread title wasn't restricted to Charlton players, in which case I'll go with George Best. Had the pleasure of seeing him several times in his prime.
Rob Lee was always my favourite growing up. I was gutted when we flogged him to Newcastle, but obviously I understood why it had to happen. After Rob Lee went, John Robinson filled his shoes for me. Not as good a player as Rob Lee obviously, but loved him all the same.
Best player at CAFC Paul Walsh. Favourite. Len Glover( yes I am that old) Most embarrassing display, the time Christophe du point was on the pitch. Heroes Derek Hales, Robert Lee, Mark Fish.
Over the years have seen all of the above - what a list of fabulous players, that have given us so much pleasure. None though in my memory stands out more than Stuart Leary ; his skill on the ball , his reading of the game, and above all his style. The late John Hewie another great player from the distant past described Leary as being 'The Master'

In terms of non-charlton it has to be Hristo Stoichkov. Great goal scorer, great goal maker and all round mentalist!
And Chrissy Powell for the tunnel jump.
Scott Parker for me though, brilliant player in a brilliant team and, even in spite of where he is now, still convinced we saw the very best of him.
Not saying they were all the best but I loved them!
Sir Clive of Mendonca
Scotty Parker
Jonatan Johansson (hence the 21 in the name)
Matt Holland
Claus Jensen
Richard Rufus
Paolo Di Canio
Chris Powell
Only messing!
Hales & Flanagan (Great punch up between them both v Maidstone Utd)

Heroes Derek Hales, Robert Lee, Mark Fish.
Maybe Garry Nelson as well.
Derek Killer Hales followed closely by
Robert Lee and John Robinson
Goalkeeper- Nicky Johns
