Chrissy Powell as he gave me more memerable moments than anyone else, the England call up, the whole crowd chanting his name during a lull in play in the Boro cup game and the farewell goal.
Simonson. He beat Chelsea and Leicester and drew with Sheffield Wednesday by himself. For these few sublime world class moments he's my choice. Marvin Hinton was a class act too.
Chris Powell. Always did his best; always looked like he was enjoying it. Never thought I'd see a Charlton player in the England team until he got the call up.
So many people wanting to say someone different but I have to give two scenarios: Derek Hales, I saw him over many years and he was a hard as nails striker who knew where the goal was, a real talisman and he would help younger/weaker players who were getting bullied etc Clive Mendonca, he wasn't with us very long but for sheer impact he cracked right in. Kinsella aint far behind. A hard choice so I will go for Eddie Firmani
Paddy for me. Idolized him as a kid, played right wing because of him. Gutted when I came to make my Confirmation and had chance to choose a name...apparently, there was no St Colin!! What did the Church know!!! I took Paddy instead!!
Since those days, I would add Simmo, Rufus, Johnny H, Deano, Webster, Jensen, Clive, Darren Bent, Parker, Chris Powell and, of course...Kins!!
Blimey...this is worse than someone asking me to name my favourite record!! ;-)
Trying to name my favourite player is like trying to name my favourite Beatles song. Everytime I think I know the answer, another one pops into my head that makes me re-consider my choice...............................
Favourite, not our best ever. We all know this is an impossible question, and we all change it from time to time, but I'll throw my cap in the Richard Rufus group. I seem to remember that he won England U21 caps, but never (shockingly) a full cap. Richard Rufus was everything anybody could ever want to be as a footballer, awesome.
