We have signed plenty of good players in the past in January.charlton_hero said:
If they're decent then why not get them now? We got BWP in January.blackpool72 said:
Hopefully nothing.Callumcafc said:Anything today on Ofoborh or Randall? Seems very quiet about the place after a couple of days of activity.
Wait until the summer and rebuild for next season
Big difference now is the wage limit0 -

Good player, will score them goals.
Everton to Blackpool on loan though, not too far to go all things considered. Do well there and may get a move to somewhere like Blackburn on loan next season.

I’m sure Szmodics doesn’t score every 1 on 1 he gets and Schwartz looks like he has the ability to score those kind of chances. Aneke’s shown he’s a decent finisher this season, missing a few chances recently doesn’t change that. If a striker is scoring from 1 in 3 chances they’re doing very well.Southbank said:The focus has been on our defensive mistakes lsst night. But which of our strikers would you have confidence would have taken the two chances Smodjic scored last night? Aneke, Schwartz and Bogle all missed easier ones than that in the past 2 games. We are not very strong in any department just now.5 -
He was always likely to go to somewhere in the north (west).Sage said:

Rich Cawley poopoo’d this one yesterday. Says it’s the agent trying to drum up interest. Assuming it’s because his move to Germany’s gone south.Redrobo said:Antony Evans the ex Everton midfielder is linked with us.

He had 3 and scored 2 against Milton Keynes on Saturday so now has 4 in 2.addick1956 said:
Smodjic had just 2 goals until our generous defence came along.killerandflash said:

Szmodics was effectively Maddison's replacement in the Posh team, as an attacking midfielder, rather than the centre forward (JCH replaced Toney)2 -
He scored 2 in their last game against MK Dons so is clearly a man in formaddick1956 said:

Is the transfer speculation thread or the tactics thread?2

Have a feeling we’ll announce one tomorrow. It’s press day and we’ll want it done for Friday. Really hoping it’s Ofoborh as he sounds like the mobile cm we have missed since Cullen left. If Famewo starts on Saturday too then it’s onwards and upwards.5

Guessing we missed out on the one that was meant to sign pre-pboro.0

It's a funny thing in football where often players get a flurry of goals in successive games and then don't score again for a while.Sage said:

Is it just a confidence thing or just getting the breaks fall to them?

Probably a mixture of lots of factors. Get that little break initially and you then probably start making runs that you wouldn’t have done beforehand, getting into areas you haven’t been as much.Oggy Red said:

Life is funny, just like they say about waiting for a bus and suddenly two come at once. Life would be boring if everyone all got their opportunities at the same time too.

Might mean we pay up for Randall if Doughty isn’t coming back.1

Still "in play" according to Cawley. Presumably one out (Doughty), one in (this mystery man.)addick1956 said:Any sign of the player who we were to late to get in before Peterborough game...dud he mean the home fixture. Just wondering.

To be honest, I'm not too upset by that news, although it would've been good to see Doughty play a few more games for us, how many games would he have been involved in once recovered from his Hamstring injury then getting back to match fitness without any further niggles. Could well have been a total waste of time for uschev said:3 -
Doughty's wages don't count for the cap. I doubt TS's finances couldn't cope with us bringing someone in before he was sold eitherthenewbie said:
Don't think so, Cawley saying "still in play". Could be waiting for Doughty sale to go through for book balancing/wage purposes?Dazzler21 said:Guessing we missed out on the one that was meant to sign pre-pboro.0 -

What I am convinced about is that Gallen, the Gov and co will get the best they can possibly get. A bit of a truism perhaps but I don’t think we should fret when deals like this don’t come off. He’s beyond us so he is beyond us . We move on knowing that they will land what they can land.Leeds_Addick said:18 -
I know people will say hes a young lad & needs to do whats best for him but jumping ship from the team who give you the platform to perform on the professional stage is poor.
When you see how Joe Gomez handled himself in his departure is how it should be done.1 -
That's a definite signing then.MattF said:
