  • Anything today on Ofoborh or Randall? Seems very quiet about the place after a couple of days of activity.
    Hopefully nothing.
Wait until the summer and rebuild for next season

If they're decent then why not get them now? We got BWP in January.
We have signed plenty of good players in the past in January.

Big difference now is the wage limit

Which one of you lot were raving about scouting Ellis Simms? He has joined Blackpool on loan.
    @Sage
    Disappointed.

Good player, will score them goals.

Everton to Blackpool on loan though, not too far to go all things considered. Do well there and may get a move to somewhere like Blackburn on loan next season.

He was always likely to go to somewhere in the north (west).

The focus has been on our defensive mistakes lsst night. But which of our strikers would you have confidence would have taken the two chances Smodjic scored last night? Aneke, Schwartz and Bogle all missed easier ones than that in the past 2 games. We are not very strong in any department just now.
    Marcus Maddison?

Szmodics was effectively Maddison's replacement in the Posh team, as an attacking midfielder, rather than the centre forward (JCH replaced Toney)

Smodjic had just 2 goals until our generous defence came along.
He had 3 and scored 2 against Milton Keynes on Saturday so now has 4 in 2.

He scored 2 in their last game against MK Dons so is clearly a man in form

We are 2nd/3rd most goals in the league
  • Is the transfer speculation thread or the tactics thread?
  • Guessing we missed out on the one that was meant to sign pre-pboro.

It's a funny thing in football where often players get a flurry of goals in successive games and then don't score again for a while.

Is it just a confidence thing or just getting the breaks fall to them?

John Stones nabbed some in league and cup after years of not scoring

Probably a mixture of lots of factors. Get that little break initially and you then probably start making runs that you wouldn’t have done beforehand, getting into areas you haven’t been as much.

Life is funny, just like they say about waiting for a bus and suddenly two come at once. Life would be boring if everyone all got their opportunities at the same time too.

  • Might mean we pay up for Randall if Doughty isn’t coming back.

Do you think it was Crowley we missed out on? Looks just the sort of player we would have been looking for.
  • Any sign of the player who we were to late to get in before Peterborough game...dud he mean the home fixture. Just wondering.

Still "in play" according to Cawley. Presumably one out (Doughty), one in (this mystery man.)

To be honest, I'm not too upset by that news, although it would've been good to see Doughty play a few more games for us, how many games would he have been involved in once recovered from his Hamstring injury then getting back to match fitness without any further niggles. Could well have been a total waste of time for us

Don't think so, Cawley saying "still in play". Could be waiting for Doughty sale to go through for book balancing/wage purposes?

Doughty's wages don't count for the cap. I doubt TS's finances couldn't cope with us bringing someone in before he was sold either
