Argh if only a Safety Car wasnt needed... Russell had GONE!!!1

Absolutely. Bottas was having a mare there and George was away.ForeverAddickted said:Argh if only a Safety Car wasnt needed... Russell had GONE!!!2 -
Must have had at least a 2-3sec gaplordromford said:

That’s the spirit.Exiled_Addick said:Well that’s the race ruined. We’ll just be watching two Mercs follow each other round all afternoon.0 -
Lando doing a good job climbing up the field.
A good result today and McLaren could pretty much wrap up 3rd in the constructors champ.1 -
Unfortunately the one race where I just want to watch the leader0
-
I get that. But if George can lead a procession today I’d be more than happy.ForeverAddickted said:Unfortunately the one race where I just want to watch the leader
Ideally, he can lead for 87 laps without incident and there’s a bunch of action going on behind him!2 -
The whole interest in this weekend was with Lewis gone, Red Bull fast in race trim, and Leclerc and Perez on the fringes of the fight as well, we might finally see a genuinely competitive race. Well nearly all those factors gone we’re just left with two mercs again with no one who will get near. Right now looks like Russell will leave Bottas a few tenths a lap behind him just like Lewis does so we may not even get a Merc race. I’ll be happy to see Russell win but I hoped we might get a bit of a race for a change. Now we’re just watching who manages their tyres better... again.lordromford said:

So watch further down the field then. Plenty going on down there.Exiled_Addick said:

Yes but that’s the situation every week. My point is that first lap crash ruined what was going to make this weekend more interesting than usual. Formula one needs people fighting each other for the lead. Constantly having to watch the midfield battle for 2 or 3 points is like saying the fight between Villa and Southampton for 9th place in the Premier League is where all the excitement is.lordromford said:

Well, ok, but not really. You’re complaining that there’s not enough wheel to wheel action, but then when someone points you to some you’re complaining that it’s not the right kind of wheel to wheel action.Exiled_Addick said:

Anyway. It doesn’t matter, it’s just a difference of opinion. Let’s not argue about this any more. I’ve had this argument on here too many times already and I’m a bit tired of it. Let’s agree to disagree. No hard feelings.0 -
It does lessen Hamilton's achievement somewhat that Russell can walk in from the bench and race just as well and win a race just as clearly.
But its definitely not the car eh.1 -
No it doesn’t.SELR_addicks said:It does lessen Hamilton's achievement somewhat that Russell can walk in from the bench and race just as well and win a race just as clearly.

Yup, shows how much effect the car has, as you say, in the main a novice is winning a race in the best car.0
-
Best thing that could happen between this week and next is for Mercedes to rest Bottas and give Russell an opportunity against Hamilton
Of course they wouldnt do that but certainly curious0 -
Nobody is saying the Mercedes isn’t the best car. But I’m not having it that Russell’s performance takes anything away from Hamilton.
Russell is widely recognised as an exceptional driver and he’s having an incredibly good weekend.
If Stoffel Van Doorne had come in and done what George has done, I would be two things:
1) Fucking gobsmacked.
2) Marginally more likely to agree.4 -

Jesus wept!!!... You dont open an eight second gap on a pit stop and have a brief issue if your not a good driver0

My stomach went for a walk when Russell said he had no power though1

Now reporting he’s down on power on the straight. Please, please no gremlins.ForeverAddickted said:My stomach went for a walk when Russell said he had no power though2 -
Bottas is catching him at a rate of knots here... That 8 sec gap is suddenly down to 5 secsDaveMehmet said:

Perez is a great driver.2

It doesn't at all.
