Has he not been getting game time at Birmingham?0 -
Pratley jnr0

So pumped. He was the player I really hoped we'd get this window.19

Are we going for a Spain/Barcelona style formation without a striker?0

Pleased a good player with championship experience. With Cullen and field coming back we don't have to over play them with smith and Davis and can even give pratley a rest.
Feb is a massive busy months so all will be needed. They way we play I think we need this amount of midfielders as its very high tempo pressing6 - Sponsored links:

Clearly likes to get stuck in. That or he's habitually late in the tackle - 80 career bookings and 2 sendings off0

he must be half decent?? The brummies are not happy

Wiki says:
Style of play
On joining Walsall as a 19-year-old, Davis described himself as "the type of player who likes to break things down and do what I call the 'nitty-gritty'. I like to get stuck in and work hard". He is primarily a defensive midfielder, reportedly priding himself on "ball-winning ground-covering defensive midfield work"; his major contribution to his team comes from "flying around midfield winning the ball and disrupting the opposition".Lee Clark suggested he looks best when using his power and strength and keeping his use of the ball simple.Dean Saunders mentioned his "winning mentality"; according to the Birmingham Mail's Brian Dick, "when Blues are down no-one leads by example quite as much as Davis".

He’s everywhere on the pitch whenever I’ve seen him play. Got a bit of Pratley about him but is also more well rounded technically too.Obviously not as talented as Conor but I imagine he will play the “Gallagher role” and what he lacks in star quality he will make up for in sheer hard graft.11 -
I give him Seven Days.1

I think it has to be said that the signing of one of either Smith or Davis is utterly pointless. Time will tell which. Delighted we hung on to LT however.
I get the impression this window has been just a patching-up exercise to try and avoid relegation, with the heavy lifting coming in the summer.6 -

Taylor and Bonne at last by the middle of February.7 -
Seems to best as a 4-2-3-1 defensive midfielder.
What does that tell you, especially with the other signings this window?

Really decent player, proper Bowyer signing. I hope we have an option to buy after this as he's the natural successor to Pratley. Given that no-one really rated Pratley when he came in this could really help us in shoring up our defence a bit more. Hopefully with Cullen back in controlling the flow, McGeady creating and Lyle back fit up front we'll have more than enough about us to string a few wins together and drag ourselves up and out before too long. Then we can start looking at permanent signings for next season and thinking about Championship football.

Aiden McGeady is another who Bowyer showed his appreciation for when we played Sunderland on Questr
Andre Green we wanted in the summer
Even Matt Smith was apparently linked in the summer!!17 -
The OS says:
Charlton have completed the signing of midfielder David Davis on loan from Birmingham City until the end of the season.
The experienced 28-year old becomes the Addicks’ third signing of transfer deadline day following the arrivals of Aiden McGeady and Matt Smith and the fourth of the January transfer window, which was kicked off by the arrival of Andre Green.
Davis made his Premier League debut for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2012 before going on to make 61 appearances during his time at Molineux and made the move to Birmingham in 2015, earning a wealth of experience in the Championship with 194 Blues appearances to his name, scoring 11 goals.
Charlton manager Lee Bowyer said: "I’m delighted, especially so late on.
“He’s another player that’s going to come in and strengthen the squad. We’ve brought David in because of his experience. He’s played over 150 games in this division. He’s a man and he’s a winner.”
Director of Football Steve Gallen added “He’s a good athlete with a good attitude. He’s a big, strong boy. During January we were looking to add an athletic type to our midfield to go with what we already have and I’m pleased we’ve been able to do that.”

Not many seem happy with this, but I thought this is the sort of signing many thought we should be making? At 28 he's a good age and played plenty of football in this league over the past 6 years. Not ideal that he's on loan, but I think some have overestimated how attractive we are currently as a club.
Birmingham fans aren't happy either.
