At last! About time someone made a sensible comment! Whatever is said or any action nothing will ever be right for some of the posters on CL.Essex_Al said:Ha, ha, you lot really do make me laugh!
How many of you wallies actually believe that all of the other 91 league managers have it written into their contracts that they have sole control over transfers and the like!
If this was a horse race, you and I would be the only ones not wearing blinkers!0 -

It's only 2% though so it's fine.ForeverAddickted said:Declan Warrington @decwarrington 26s26 seconds ago
Meire: "For me, the change starts today. I'm very positive we made the right appt and this will start to bring the fans back." #CAFC0 -
christ alive - yes, it's the best manager/head coach appointment they've made so far, but hardly saying much is it?
also, after two years of constant lies, half truths and platitudes it's going to take a lot more than "we've learnt from our mistakes" (again!!) and Russell Slade believing he will have control - let's revisit that in a few months eh?3 -

We know what was said Colin, but on what basis can we, or even he, believe what he's actually saying.colin1961 said:Slade said no player will be sold on the cheap and he hopes the players he wants to stay will stay and fight to get the club back ..... Already apoken to one or two players but will see the others when pre season starts and looking forward to trip to Austria

Whilst I desperately want to believe that bringing in an experienced English manager or Head Coach or whatever the title is the start of a shift in the approach of the regime, it really won't be.
Murray's comment today was laughable. Meire's repetition of previous baloney about learning from mistakes, looking forward etc is just rehashed from her previous purile crap.
Duchatalet has a model that he is convinced will work despite it clearly being unworkable. That attitude is not that of a man who is used to or willing to change his mind.
Slade has committed professional suicide in believing that he will have anything other than a passing comment to make on transfers. Who knows his motives for joining but this will probably be his last job in football.
Posters on here who see this as some seismic shift in approach are wonderfully optimistic people.
Me? I tend to judge people on their previous actions. Plus on how they conduct themselves as individuals and a collective. This lot have pretty much destroyed what made this a great club and have done so in such a pigheaded, arrogant and malicious way.
Appointing Russell Slade goes absolutely nowhere near giving me any sort of optimism that they have changed their MO.
They knew that if they appointed another unheard of foreign manager then they would be left with little option but to sell up. By doing this they think they will appease the masses. Unfortunately they think that the masses are as thick as shit.
Most of us aren't .11 -
Roland busy again?
Certainly not cleaning his teeth!0 -
I can assure you in every walk of business life as an executive you and you employment attorney climb all over the targeted deliverables, the financial and human resources at your disposal and your authority to act on behalf of the business, with and without seeking sanction from any other party be it the board, the financial controller or any other executive.
When your livelihood and future prospects depend on it I can assure it does indeed focus the mind. I happily accept in the faceless environment of many corporations the very idea of appointing an executive/ manager to actually manage without interference is borderline heresy.
However in a modest mid-corporate organisation you are paying the person to manage, so in gods name let the person manage.
If you have confidence in your ability to appoint the right person then get out of the bloody way or do the job yourself.
I will add one further comment - on what planet does Murray actually live? On the day when we should all be focused on the appointment of a new manager and the future he decides to make it about himself. So we are immediately brought back to the debate about personalities.
It is not about personalities Richard it is about performance. For a man who has promised communication to the clubs supporters in his first public engagement in months he chooses to talk about himself.

"Verbal agreement" ------- Russel, Russ, Russy ----- she can't hear you0

LOL0
-
Daft of Slade not to get full control in writing, however to get a 3 year deal and to admit that he has only a verbal agreement when it's on film is cute. Make sure you have a copy put somewhere safe just in case someone accidentally deletes it. Might come in handy in the future.
Murray is a card. What exactly does he expect does all to do! The club has been going backwards since 2006 and as he wants to be the publicity man here you have to take the flack along with the praise.1 -
Stop talking bollocks, no one has been racistSwisdom said:LoOkOuT said:
Unbelievable.Swisdom said:If protests are to continue we need to do it properly. Not with flares and petty name calling or aggression and racism. That just makes us look childish and will definitely deter players from joining us.
We are a basket case at the moment but two wrongs don't make a right. We, as fans, are better than that.Addickted2TheReds said:

Racism is never acceptable
The vicious name calling I have personally witnessed aimed at the Directors box is never acceptable
I got abuse for not getting up and walking out in the 74th minute - what the fuck is that about? This is a football club not a picket line.
Protest if you choose but we get more attention for doing it the right way (inflatables and stress balls) than we ever will for mob rule3 -
Racism is probably the wrong word on my part. Still think there's probably something somewhere that states "Fuck off back to Belgium you stupid fucking Belgian slag" "Go back to fucking Naby Sarr you whore" at the top of your voice isn't socially acceptable. That's happened.Addickted2TheReds said:

Please please explain your point about racism...
When has that occurred?
I wouldn't say that sort of stuff to my worst enemy.

This means he got nothing of substance in writing about transfers - in terms of contracts "influence" means nothing whatsoever.ForeverAddickted said:Declan Warrington @decwarrington 13s14 seconds ago
Slade: "I will have huge influence over the [transfer] comings and goings but it will be an open discussion." #CAFC0 -
Well if they're prepared to make the same commitment verbally, what's the issue?Essex_Al said:Ha, ha, you lot really do make me laugh!

Whatever Murray's done for the club in the past counts for nothing: he's been an apologist for the regime these past two and a half years and just wants his investment back.
Squirrel Face is an abject failure and shouldn't be in the job. If she seriously thinks fans will come flooding back on the strength of this then she's seriously deluded.
However, I think once she strolls in on her first day back after her jolly in Portugal, she'll find 1,000 or so ST renewals from the West Stand faithfull have landed on her desk on the back of Slade's appointment. I'm sure they'll shift a few match day tickets too, at least at the start of the campaign (* subject to ticket office being open/available to non-ASBO all singing/all dancing customers only, and with restricted access to the director's box).
I wish Slade and the team well. Clearly a change of PR emphasis, if not direction (we'll wait & see); so if it's to be believed that Squirrel Face and RM told Rat to change or sell up, and Rat is has changed his stance, it means he's in this for the long haul, and as long as Rat's there then Squirrel Face will be too. That's why it'll never work.
I see us yo-yoing between 1st & 10th next season, probably in with a shout of the play-offs or automtic promotion.
But such is the cancer eating away at this club thanks to Rat & Squirrel Face, the club will be in even more debt by the time we get promotion, and we'll face many years doing a Leeds or Rotherham: hovering in or around the relegation places.
The whole lot need to be put out of their misery and, until then, the protests must go on.1 -
Best manager since Bob Peeters.colin1961 said:Very impressive man , when asked he said everything will go through him and we manage the club upwards ....
Plus as I said already been working on transfers before he went away most likey during and yesterday already spoke to agents , players and clubs
Very positive ......
(Never gets old that)9 -
I spoke to a lot of them. Sky and ITN filmed a short conversation with me, and I am trepidatious about how that will look. I spoke to the lads from the SLP, The News Shopper, the press association, Kevin Nolan amongst others.MrLargo said:
Great work Seth. I don't suppose any of the journos stopped for a chat with you?seth plum said:I feel I must apologise for the apostrophe.
(hangs head in shame)
The ITN guy asked if most Charlton fans feel similarly to me, and I emphasised that I don't speak for most Charlton fans just in case anybody says I was a part of any one group or another.
Today I was simply a lone protester/voice doing my thing.39 -
Well done, hope and look forward to seeing a bit of coverage on the box this evening.seth plum said:

Got to admire Murray
He still thinks that we should be grateful that Roland came in and saved us from something far worse than relegation to league one, 7 managers in two years and fans and employees alike leaving in their droves.0 -
if you did it wouldn't make much sense anyway so I wouldn't worry about itSwisdom said:

Anyone find out where Russell went on he's hols tan don't look up to much2

The gullible amongst us will hang on to every word from the regime, the rest of us have every right to question and be cynical.
A leopard doesn't change it's spots & this leopard has more spots than we care to remember.0 -
The fact that 15 other clubs appointed managers while we were without one suggests that one lesson KM has not learnt is how to be decisive in the recruitment - how many of the other vacancies remain unfilled. We shall see how huge Slade's influence over player signings is and how wise he was not to get something written into his contract - but if we have the usual performance around next transfer deadline day then we shall have confirmation that nothing has changed, and even Colin will have to accept that this is the case.0
