  • Exactly.

    Good luck Joe

  • Am I the only that thinks we have gone back to the old days when we have agreed decent signings in private (nothing announced yet) the money raised from the sale of Gomez will be used to finance, if other clubs know we have the cash from this sale they will make theie transfer fees higher.

    Hopefully
  • err Premier League helps doesn't it, ie you don't have to accept a bid if you have the funds coming in, also maybe Bolasie didn't have a release clause ?
err, back. Remember this game? I'd rather forget it, but I was there and it haunts me like a curse

as much as I didn't want Joe to leave I fully back his decision to do so, afterall most of us would accept a higher paid job at a top company if offered.
I just hope that the money that comes into the club is spent in the club.
  • Confirmed.
  • It's on the OS.
  • Good luck Joe
  • On Sky saying its a 3.5 million pound deal. It isn't and is actually a fair amount more than that. They also said he played for the u18s at 13! Again incorrect.
  • Undisclosed because it'd be silly of RD to let that figure show as fans would pummel him for not re-investing it into the squad in any fair/relative to this fee's form.

Good luck at Liverpool Joe, hope you go on to get your first England cap, I expect big things!

Very politely, may I enquire if you know that for a fact? Not wishing to sound rude, and very much wanting to believe you.

  • Good luck to him. The club and Joe have handled this brilliantly. I hope he fulfills his potential.

    Olly Groome on Twitter:

@ShoreRobert I can confirm Robert, that reports of a release clause were total nonsense.
  • So the academy lads were right then ,

Good luck to Joe and his family , go on and set the world a light young man but remember

#madeincharlton and you won't go wrong

But at that point he wasn't a 10 million pound player was he, Palace had a chance that season and took it and if truthfully honest, imho got very lucky in the play offs as Brighton played them off th epark twice and still lost, but if you do take your chance then it's a whole different ball game, you are then in a position to hold out for more money, but as a championship club if the top 6 come calling that is it job done.

  • Very politely, may I enquire if you know that for a fact? Not wishing to sound rude, and very much wanting to believe you.

My understanding, and hopefully I will have some more concrete news on it over the weekend is that the fee is more closer to 6 million with some add ons. As often happens the amount announced publicly is not always the overall price of the deal.
  • People going apeshit over a fee reported that isn't even true

    #cringe
  • Interesting how on the OS it's an undisclosed fee but on Sky Sports News it's £3.5m on the breaking news feed.

Sky Sports News don't normally report the wrong figures tho and its them saying £3.5 M

Charlton wont say a price, no-one associated will say a figure and you have to wonder why

just seen Olly Groome tweet that £3.5M is wrong, how does he know, and why wont he tell us the real price then.

Unfortunately with nothing coming from the club I am starting to believe it could be as little as £3.5M

  • But at that point he wasn't a 10 million pound player was he, Palace had a chance that season and took it and if truthfully honest, imho got very lucky in the play offs as Brighton played them off th epark twice and still lost, but if you do take your chance then it's a whole different ball game, you are then in a position to hold out for more money, but as a championship club if the top 6 come calling that is it job done.

Sure not £10m , and not attracting the same attention or rave reviews as Zaha, but definitely attracting FAPL scouts. The point I'm making is that we could have considered doing the same thing. Building this season's team around Gomez and Cousins, and like Palace, making it into the FAPL. We'd probably then still sell Gomez (but for double what he's gone for today) but Cousins would be happy to stay. Maybe I am a trifle naive to believe in such a scenario, but it seems to me that is what Palace have done. And they are there on merit.

Thanks. Good news. Any info on a possible loan back?

  • The BBC are also reporting it as £3.5 million without qualification, which seems a little irresponsible given that neither club has disclosed the fee.

    It's not 3.5m ffs.

Good luck Joe. Seems like we lost a really good one this weekend, unfortunately too talented for where the club is at right now.
