Did think it was odd describing this as the largest building project since we returned to the Valley.

Wouldn't building any of the three stands have been bigger and especially shifting the old East terrace?

Perhaps it's base on sq ft?

How much does a barrel of Napoleonic brandy weigh ?

Seats need repainting/replacing - looks awful in that video.

750 lorries over 1 week? Over 100 a day? I bet the locals really do love it at the moment.

    They'll all be at work.

I thought they pretty much just built over it.

can't believe for one second there will be 750 lorries over a week. Almost 110 a day? I work in the construction industry and there's no way 750 would be correct.

Where have we got 750 lorries from?

The average end tipper lorry holds about 20 T of soil. The larger ones can hold 30 to 40, but would probably struggle to get down Floyd Rd.

    2700/20 = 135 Lorries.

    That's about 20 loads a day.

Usually on an earthworks project like this you have between 4 and 8 trucks running from site to tip and back all day long. How many loads each truck can shift each day depends on the distance between the source site and destination site. They might be doubling up and bringing in fill on the return leg.

20 loads a day is very do-able and although the residents will certainly notice its going on, there will be quiet spells between each truck.

if the local residents were contributing to the Charlton Life Confessional Thread it would go something like.

"Now the seasons over, we'll get a few months of peace and quiet!"

    20th May 06.30 "Doh!"

Suddenly the disruption when Millwall are in town doesn't seem so bad!

Pretty much just the weight of the barrel, nearly all the brandy would have evaporated in 200 years. I must admit, happy though I am to answer your question, I fail to spot its relevance.

because those on the lower tier have had bums sitting on them every other week & thus polishing them for almost 2 hrs. The ones in the upper north never get sat on as the "geezers" are all standing up.
