Remember visiting the old, derelict Valley once and tripping over a sign lying on the 'pitch' which read 'Keep off pitch: re-seeding in progress''. It seemed to work very well, the grass was about three foot high! Had a few weeds in it though.
Have a feeling the pitch will go from one extreme to the next. Will probably be like a putting green next year, then hopefully see an upturn in results.
is it me or from that angle does it look like the pitch is not quite as wide as before?
I was thinking that, the astro turf looks about 2ft wider than the old grass area. I sit in the upper west and look directly down on that area.
I have just looked at an old video, and it appears that the red concrete area in front of the dugouts has been covered with astro turf, so i do not think the pitch has been reduced in width.

Wondered how long it would take for that tidbit to come to light !
I outed Andy at the last FF mtg but was sworn to silence ....

Seed will definitely give you a better pitch. There is time as seed takes between 7 and 14 days to germinate - depending on the quality of seed. The hard wearing type is the quickest (Rye grass). I think we would be putting something slightly better down.
It will then take 4 weeks or so before the first mow. It will still be fragile until the roots establish. After 4 to 12 months it will be ready to play football on and by then we may even have some players.
I suspect we are going for the part plastic pitch means that the roots are protected so the grass attaches to the plastic fibres and you can play much quicker. The plastic fibers are injected about 20cm into the ground and cover about 3% of the pitch and are said to give better wear and recovery + a more comfotable playing surface. With this system you can be playing on it after as little as 3 months.
The good news is that for those who choose to afford it- it can be grown off site and will be ready in days.
I'm still struggling with this Redrobo. That pitch looks pretty grassy after a few days. If we don't mow it for 4 weeks, it might look like the pitch, after we left for Sellout. In fact it's already been mown !
I'm still confident we'll be able to play on it before mid September :-)

I swear it's got greener throughout the day.
Looking great can't wait to get back to the valley !

Edit...Actually looking at older photos it looks about right, just the run off area looks different.
Where there's blame there's a claim....
