Imagine him and Ahadme up front to together, go Scott!2

Unless Leaburn is leaving this window, I'd be baffled if we signed another big striker like Etete. Regardless of whether he's any good or not, I can't see that we need another target man.

I think you’re under estimating his influence on matters @Redmidland.
Again, 29 years of age with one last good contract possible and ambitions to play higher, there are difficult decisions for him to make.1) Championship teams (and there is interest) comes knocking. Guaranteed step up + the financial benefits that brings.
2)Wycombe (or Wrexham) come knocking - they are top - can they keep it up and offer Championship football? Better positioned than Charlton.3) Stay at Charlton. Go up = great. Balance that with risking an injury set back / loss of interest or offers and end up staying in league one.The constant finding a way to lay everything at the SMT’s feet and create a negative angle is ridiculous. There has been a lot of poor decisions / actions and hold those to account, but to suggest the only reason Lloyd leaving would be for CM to grab a quick cash win is just nonsense!15 -
I don't think L Jones goes this window. Stick around until the end of the season and he can either go up with us or be available as a free agent and get higher wages. It is unlikely his form drops off a cliff for 5 months3

So I don't appreciate my opinion as being called nonsense. Their track record isn't one for them to shout about, and, in my opinion I think CM will do whatever he needs to if it saves his skin.
If you trust him, that's fine by me and I respect your opinion, I certainly wouldn't call it nonsense. I hope you're right and CM can be trusted, and, Jones decides to stay and takes his opportunity in 6 months time, one way or the other! I guess we'll both know come Feb 3rd, but in the meantime my lack of trust or respect of CM and the SMT will stay where it is now...on the backburner.
Like I said in my first post on this subject I'm glad Carter is now in a more influential position.6 -

Charlton to Wycombe you are having a laugh. They also have a very limited potential.
Average crowd a pathetic 5,000 in a 10,000 Stadium while near the top of the league.2 -

I don't know anything about the Etete suggestions but I wonder if the club have made contact in the event that we do lose Leaburn. Obviously we want to keep Miles but if there's a chance or even some noise about a bid coming in that the club would accept then it would be the least you'd hope for that a replacement would be lined up. Not much point sitting on your hands telling yourself who you'll sign if you then speak to them and can't afford the fee or find they don't want to join

They might figure that Ramsey is back soon, so you have a back four as it were (not au fait with systems) of Ramsey Mitchell Dizzy and Edwards
Then get the money in for Jones to mitigate the losses of this season and squeeze a bit from that to fuel the gravy train.0 -

I would also suggest that the backlash against the SMT would be vociferous at the very least and more fans will vote with their feet!
CM is a 100 mph prat and it's the sort of stupid stunt he'd pull just to save his own skin.
Jones is by a very large margin the best defender we have, in fact I'd suggest one of the best players we have at the club!
Moving Jones on, no matter how much we're offered, will put pay to any chance, however remote, we have of making the play-offs, sadly CM and Scott are short-sighted enough to make such a stupid decision!
I can only hope Gavin Carter reads this and other SM to realise the damage it would do.
I want to see the US owners building a competitive squad, not allowing CM and Co. to make a few bob!1 -
Oh god are we at the shitty nicknames stage of the season already? I swear it starts earlier and earlier each year

a) you think we have no chance of promotion so may as well cash in now, and/or;
b) you think he’ll down tools if he doesn’t get a move this window (I don’t expect him to do that).Probably the only player in the squad that we could sell that would make any sort of dent in our losses is Leaburn.0 -

We would get 500k at most for Lloyd Jones. Given how critical he has been this season to our defensive solidity, it would be madness and very short sighted to sell him. Especially as we look like picking up some form and challenging top six.
Would rather he left in the summer for free if he isn’t going to sign new terms.35 -

If we sell him this month then the regime will rightly be criticised as it would be massively shooting ourselves in the foot

Joe Gomez is injured for a few weeks, do that's another window when we won't see any transfer money from the resell clause...0

Dobson was as vital and Jones stepped in and made sure we kept him until the end of the season. Would be surprised if he didn’t do the same with Jones.5 -

And for that it is surely not worth the loss of your key CB alongside huge uproar in the fanbase.
I don't think we will sell him, but we will likely lose him on a free in the summer.5
